Humphrey Appleby
I WOULDN"T have thought they had done too bad this year especially with Monster Energy on board Depends what Monster are paying (or not) for the sponsorship. Otherwise the list of sponsors is mostly tourist boards/municipal councils and equipment/media suppliers to the series. Be interesting to see how things develop, because the parent company has been hemorrhaging money for the past few years.

Thought I read somewhere that it was a 'seven figure sum' over 'several' years, but the actual figures will surface in due course.
fatface
Riga would be one I'd go to - cracking city. Did Daugvapils a few years back, don't know why anyone would bother going back though. It's a tidy enough stadium, but a pain to get to and a bit of a ghost town. PHILIPRISING
THERE was some talk about a new national stadium but that was put on back boiler when their economy headed south. Perhaps it is back on the cards.

Perhaps it is back on the cards. No stadium, no money, and not much of a speedway tradition in Riga or amongst the Latvian population (Daugavpils is mostly ethnic Russians). The city already attracts plenty of tourists, so it would seem more like wishful thinking...
PHILIPRISING
THE stadium would be primarily for soccer but with more general usage as well. But, as you say, money is tight in Riga as well as the whole of Latvia.
