Bagpuss
Well done in heat 15 Lewi Kerr
PhilK
Kerr put in a couple of really good rides today Baggy, heat 15 and when on a TR. On his low average I would think a number of sides will be interested in his services in 2013. It is a real shame that he has had so few meetings to date with the Young Stars as at the start of the season he looked to me one of the riders most likely to break into the PL. Liamhgk13
Couldn't agree more with you. Think Kerr has rode more at mildenhall than Lynn this year! Lol! Young stars have never really got started this year with rain offs and the elite taking there fixtures. It's a real shame. Hopefully they can finish with some good meetings. Your last sentence is spot on, such a shame that the weather has wrecked the Young Stars fixture list, mainly by forcing the senior teams' meetings to be rescheduled when the youngsters were due to race, although that is totally understandable IMO. I'd hope that Lewi would stay loyal to the club in the face of other offers next year but if other clubs can offer him more meetings then you can't blame him for wanting that. Whatever happens the club needs to keep hold of him as an asset as the boy has huge potential.

Liamhgk13
Just think with riders such as Lewi who have so much potential need more than the odd meeting every other week. It's a shame if a rider does leave a club but can't hold them back if there going to get more meeting and wants to progress quicker to try move up to the PL. Damon
Mildenhall were far to strong for Buxton today, and I totally agree with the Lewis Kerr comments, he would fit in at Mildenhall next year, as long as the league all stays in its current format. Would be surprised if she is just not bothered, is one of the few promoters that will come on here and put us right when we get it wrong and give a genuine opinion, will be a loss to the sport if she does have to sell up or even worse close up. A very hard season for Buxton, only a couple of seasons since they brought us the likes of Morris & Branford and were a quality team in a better economic environment. Despite the big scoreline there was some good racing. Kerr great guest can't add much to what has been said about him - certainly wouldn't mind seeing him at Mildy if the young Stars didn't run, Blacklock very entertaining ( not sure Stefan would have thought so in Ht 3, but full credit to Blacklock in making sure Stef was O.K. after the spill ) and great to see our old friend Deano always on the pace and picking up a deserved paid 8. Wish Buxton well and hope that they will be back in 2013. Kev

To say we are not bothered is unfair at best as I don't see anyone else paying the bills or putting the work in to get a meeting on in the first place . Its not a case of just selling up if we wanted to as there is hardly a queue of buyers, but if you want to buy Buxton then let us know. neil3065
Its a real shame that there are doubts over whether Buxton will run in 2013. They have worked wonders to have been in the third tier every season since its inception in 1994. During that time, they have produced some excellent riders, who have been amongst the best at this level and gone on to achieve success in the PL & EL in many cases. They are somewhat unique in that, while they set out to introduce young riders to competitive Speedway and develop them, they are also a standalone club and need to achieve relative success on track to encourage the paying public to attend in sufficient numbers to make the club viable. This raises the issue of building a team to compete with clubs with larger fan-bases, such as Dudley and Mildenhall. The present third tier, in my view, isnt as good as it used to be. There are too few clubs and fixture lists are too dis-jointed to name but two issues. However, it seems to me to make a reasonable attempt at meeting the varying needs of its member clubs, which seems an increasingly difficult thing to do, as demonstrated by the doubts over Buxton's future. There's a big gap between the PL & NL in terms of being able to move up, The structure below the NL, ie, the regional 'second half' leagues is better than it has been for a number of years, albeit, it doesnt offer a viable option for any club that needs to 'step down' from the NL. So, its difficult to get a perfect fit of a league for every club to compete in. If Buxton were to stop running in the third tier, it would increase the void in third tier teams in the north of the country, which would be a real shame for the prospects of would-be Speedway riders in the north developing careers in the sport. Its difficult to know what the answer is, with Speedway as a whole suffering from the current economic situation. Could there be any possibility of a tie-up with a higher league club, ie, Belle Vue or Sheffield, perhaps, in a similar way to what Mildenhall has with Ipswich?! Buxton has an excellent record of producing talented riders, so I really hope they find a way to continue in the NL beyond the current season. Liamhgk13
I'd hate to see Buxton pull out. Been a great club. Hopefully we will see them again in 2013.
greyhoundp
Surely there is NO need for Jayne to attend every meeting?, i think she looks in on here most days, generally answers questions that fans have, Buxton or NL related. I think it would be a sad loss to lose Buxton from the NL, or indeed lose Buxton full stop, its such a pity there is No one out there who is interested in supporting/sponsoring the venue, I am sure it would be an ideal venue for a BSPA training facility, where each EL/PL Team could send one youngster for intensive training, not supply the riders with equipment, but send them for Training every weekend, with Static Caravans on site so that they could sleep over on weekends from Mid April to October, and the income from that would help to keep Buxton, maybe not thriving, but existing, and help British Speedway generally, at the same time, In addition other young riders could book in knowing they will get valuable Track time over the weekend, and pay there own costs. Cloud cuckoo land ? No it need not cost a fortune for the BSPA. Edited September 17, 2012 by greyhoundp
Allitt Racing
Just a question? Why do some Mildenhall fans think they can just have any riders they please even if they are contracted to another club? Lewis had a great day yesterday and is a talent but is also very much part of the Kings Lynn plans for the Future. I also hope Buxton and the league can find a way forward I think more teams are finding it hard then even I thought sadly.
Liamhgk13
I wouldn't put it like that. I think a lot if people can see the potential in Kerr and for him to progress further he has to be given more meetings than the young stars have had this year. For a young up and coming speedway rider trying to make his way up he has to do what's best for him and if it's a move to mildenhall or any other club you can't hold a young rider back I'm afraid. That's speedway
neil3065
One of the problems with the NL these days is there simply arent enough meetings for riders looking to develop their careers. That's irrespective of which club a rider happens to ride for. Unless a rider is doubling-up in the PL, then most at this level, it seems, will have spells of a few meetings, then almost nothing for a few weeks. The weather hasnt helped this summer, of course. But even if the weather hadnt been an issue, its the lack of teams at this level and the way the fixture lists work that cause this situation. Simply Kerr looks a good prospect on his average 5.5 somehting? unless that changes, and I would like him at Mildenhall next year. Obviously if KL dont run next year he will be looking for a club to ride for and he isnt at EL or PL standard just yet, so NL Mildenhall, with the likes of Lee,Louis,Henry and Jolly as guidance and help could bring him on further. If KL run NL then I would fully expect him to be there with them, but who knows.

I don't think we think like that at all.He clearly has potential to be a very good rider..any club would want him in their team..Especially on the average he currently has..There's quite a few riders about who I wouldn't mind seeing in a tigers jacket.Doesn't mean I expect them to sign for us.
