Halifaxtiger
This is great news. Another season of a rider who turns up with a miserable look on his face in his Wolves kevlars, trailing round behind opposition reserves if he misses the gate, not bothering to acknowledge the fans with a lap of honour if he does manage to win a race. Can't wait for the season to start. I think he deserves another try. His EL average is only marginally behind Stead's, so he could put as much as three points on his average. I don't think any other in the team - or any other rider you might have signed instead - has that sort of potential. Its a gamble, but then again so are at least 3 others.
screm
Can we take it everyone is now happy that Wells has signed.
Willowman
Its a gamble, but then again so are at least 3 others. Mmm. You know what happens when you gamble. More often than not, you loose. You have got to be extremely lucky to win on an 4 way accumulator. Good luck.
OdsalBoy
I think Facundo Albin & Damian Koppe will suprose a few people to be honest.

Steve55
Can we take it everyone is now happy that Wells has signed. I'm happy because I'm one of those that think he has a lot more to show than he did last year at Sheffield. Yes he did do a lot of 'following home' after poor gating. But he did start making the effort later in the season, putting in some good passes, although he did come a cropper on at least one occasion on the third/fourth bend, when he was lucky not to get hurt. However he did try and that's what I pay to see, riders putting in the effort to get a result. On top of that he also has the quality to get results away from Sheffield, something that other Sheffield riders didn't seem to have last year. You know who I'm referring to and if we want to get anywhere near the playoffs they're all going to have to get points away this year. I know it's wishful thinking, but I really want the team to stick it up those who are tipping Sheffield as 'wooden spoonists' this year!
fairplay1
I think Facundo Albin & Damian Koppe will suprose a few people to be honest. Facundo Albin should have most definately been signed by Berwick in my opinion, i think Sheffields gain is Berwicks loss...
Steve55
Facundo Albin should have most definately been signed by Berwick in my opinion, i think Sheffields gain is Berwicks loss... I couldn't agree more as I've said so already. Think he will be one of the biggest surprises in the premier league this year, well I hope so because I'll be there to se him every week. Get the track right and weather permitting Sheffield will be up there with the most fancied sides!

I dont agree, anyway which one of the current Berwick team would you drop.Albin is very much untried and will see most PL tracks for the first, that IMO is to much of a gamble to take at this time for Berwick. Wish the lad the best of luck at Sheffield though.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm way off the mark. I do know that you've got one of the best number ones in the league and can't wait to see him come to Sheffield. Always entertaining Ricky Smashworth as the Berwick fans named him a few years ago!

OdsalBoy
Shame, always thought he would be the next big thing, but just didnt happen when he was over here. Hope next season Sheffield bring back the "Top Gun" individual, that meeting unearthed a few rough diamonds. Remember when Darcy rode in that. The club announced that when Alden decided that he wasnt coming that put an end to Albin, though I must say that if your keen enough on a rider then you should sign that rider.I hope Albin is a success at Sheffield but it might be a case of one step back before two foward.
Heedthebaw
Facundo Albin should have most definately been signed by Berwick in my opinion, i think Sheffields gain is Berwicks loss... At the forum in the Black & Gold before Christmas when the team was announced, Ian Rae explained that the reason Albin wasn't signed was because with Seb Alden not returning, the team would not have as much top end fire power and it was felt it was more important to get the balance of the team right without taking any risks, good luck to Albin and Sheffield anyway
OILYRAG
Wells will be in a great frame of mind to ride for Sheffield , he has only signed because he cannot ride for Wolves if he didnt ! If you thought he was mardy last season whats he gonna be like in the coming season on reduced money ? At the forum in the Black & Gold before Christmas when the team was announced, Ian Rae explained that the reason Albin wasn't signed was because with Seb Alden not returning, the team would not have as much top end fire power and it was felt it was more important to get the balance of the team right without taking any risks, good luck to Albin and Sheffield anyway Yet Sheffield take 3 risks on the back of a dire season ! graz gp
That's the promoters decision. Imo they are taking a massive risk with the future of Sheffield Speedway. But i hope it work's out . If it does we could be in for an entertaining season.
OdsalBoy
Apparently the two riders who were waiting in the wings or banging the door down were Hynek Stichauer and Taylor Poole.
