jenga
I always thought that forums were about opinions and people voicing them. so why do you blast other forum users for putting their thoughts on this forum.
spin king
so why do you blast other forum users for putting their thoughts on this forum. Looks like you have a fan there Jenga.. not certain but i think it was said at STARRS that hall and wells are signed, can anyone remember if this was the jist of it? Not been there I would not know, but the impression I got was that they were talking to both riders about a return. Whether or not they have reached an agreement remains to be seen. Totally correct its Sheffield or nothing. Ricky Wells could opted to ride sorely in the Elite League. Richard Hall could opted to ride Grass and Long track. But it is my guess both will back at Sheffield, just wondering why it is taking the Promotion so long to announce the signings. .

big johnowls
RICKY Wells insists he still wants to return to Sheffield next season but he’s also revealed how the club want him to take a pay cut. Speaking in Los Angeles at a big invitational event where he finished third, Wells says he would settle for the same deal as last season. But Tigers are looking to keep a tight grip on costs after losing thousands last season thanks to the number of rain-offs and a poor side. Wells says he cannot say at this stage whether he will be back at Owlerton after showing signs of improvement in the second half of last season. He said: “The bottom line is that I want to ride for Sheffield next year and if I get offered the same deal I was on last year I’ll sign in seconds. I’m not being offered that though, I’m being offered a lot less. There’s no way I could ride for it because I’ve got to earn my living, it’s not me being greedy. “I understand that we’ve got to be sensible but I wasn’t on an outrageous deal last season, it was a deal I thought was pretty fair on both sides. If I don’t get the deal that works then it won’t happen.”
Dcb7
I reckon the promotion , because of the 'anti' Hall brigade, dont want to announce Richards appointment yet. And as for Ricky, I simply feel he is not completely comfortable about a return to Sheffield, due to some of the stick he took from some of the supporters last season, unfair stuck in my opinion. Both decent lads !

Cue Ball
Happy New Year to all Sheffield supporters! Here's hoping that the optimists are right and the pessimists (or realists or whatever you would prefer to be called) are wrong
active
I have to agree with the above post of Cue Ball and hope i do not get shouted at for saying that...................lets enjoy our speedway at least we still have it!! On another point I normally buy a season permit but have had nothing from Sheffield regarding buying another has anyone else had a reminder ? RS50
I do not think they have set a price yet. Has it yet been announced offficially by management what day we will be racing? Perhaps they believe that fans will not commit to buying one until this is announced.

They have not signed a 1 to 7 yet, must admit that I am starting to get a bit twitchy regarding the team. I do not think they have set a price yet. I was under the impression that they were sticking with the traditional Thursday night. And now looks as though I have reason to be Ricky Wells is a rider that I wanted back at Sheffield I just hope that they can now do a deal. http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/speedway/i-m-not-greedy-says-track-ace-1-5266952

Halifordukesfan
There's got to be a compromise between Sheffield & Wells, Sheffield probably have the upper hand at the moment as no other team can accomodate him.
AJK86
We are normally a lot quicker off the mark setting prices for new season and i am pretty sure we are sticking with Thursday so who knows what the hold up is. Friddy75
If we don't sign Wells I fear we are going to be so far away from being competitive with every other team. If we can't put a deal together for Wells we can forget other riders like North or even Poole and I would expect the last two to be Sanchez and Hall. Although I don't know the ins and outs of each deal I'm struggling to understand why we have broke the bank and put together the biggest deal in Tigers history to get Stead to return. Have sent out a young asset in Skiddy and if we do get Wells, we will be losing out on a loan fee for Sanchez. I'm also a little baffled why we have spent money buying or supporting new assets in a year when we have been warned things need to change or bust. Wouldn't it have been better to fill the team with the assets we have to save money and who we know can at least do a job at Sheffield. Although not a team many would of liked but 1 Masters/Grajczonek/Doolan/Lemon etc 2 Skiddy 3 Wells 4 Sanchez 5 Hall 6 Haines 7 Knight Wouldn't this have been a less risky team at a lower cost and on paper be more competitive at home which was one of the criteria for next season? AJK86
I am starting to worry now a little that the Promotion have gone about team building the wrong way, Knight should have been announced as the last signing once the other 6 were confirmed and knew what points they had left. For me now and i know it is harsh on Knight but i would sign Poole and North, see what is left and find a new number 7, might leave us weak at top end but at bottom end we would be much stronger i'd hope. Promotion are out of ideas and it all started so well.
Adrian Brownell
it says in local paper they want ricky wells to take a pay cut now there is our ambition bike prices are going up and they want riders to ride for less money . perhaps thats why we have 3 new riders because they will ride on the cheap to get a theam place
szkocjasid
If Wells doesn't sign they could go for Jesper B Monberg!
spin king
This is a real worry regarding Ricky Wells failing to agree terms with the club. We could look elsewhere and there is riders available but I cannot see other riders of the same standard but will they come for the same amount of money. The Promotion obviously have a budget and that is fair enough, but why approach a rider who has said that he lost money last season and ask him to sign for less money it just does not make sense. Hopefully Ricky and the Promotion can meet each other halfway, but it looks like this could be unlikely as Ricky states that he will only sign for the same money as last season. Where do we go if Ricky Wells does not sign who knows, I just don't see any of the riders who are left out there riding for the money that appears to be on offer at Sheffield.
