Sheffield 2013

Absolutely spot on :approve: .

Also absolutely spot on :approve:

Problem is he has stayed at the same level for years and riders like that should only be considered when you can't get someone who shows signs of improving. I can totally understand the adverse comments on here about bringing Hall back.

Its a no brainer as far as I am concerned. Get him back and the interest is stoked up immediately. Compare that to signing Josef Franc and the point is even clearer.

Bjarne Pedersen ? :P

Those comments are okay but.

Sheffield fans want Simon Stead. And Simon Stead want to be back at Sheffield.

Simon Stead says he needs the race night to change, Sheffield fans generally prefer the race night to stay the same.

Massive dilemma for tthe Promotion.

I cannot see Ben riding for Sheffield.

If we ride on a Thursday that will clash with Birmingham.

If we ride on a Sunday it would clash with Poland Ben signed for Wroclaw last season.

All depends if he stays at Brum personally I think he be at Cov next season..

Also don't think that Sheffield would be able to afford Ben, could well be out of our budget on the money he may want, and also don't Sheffield is a track that he particularly likes.

Thursday for me. If changed to Sunday would go to about 25% of the matches only. Where as in the last 20 years, missed a total of 2 matches. Do the management want to lose fans who only miss 1 match every 10 years? Would like Steady back though. Any possibility of him doubling up with another Elite team.

There lies the problem, if we run Thursdays we can kiss goodbye to signing Simon Stead as he wants to double up with Swindon, both Swindon and Sheffield run on Thursdays.

I'd say the problem is Steady's. If he wants to come back that badly he'll opt for Sheffield over Swindon - after all, I am sure he could fixed up with another EL club.

One things certain - the Tigers can't change their race night solely to suit the needs of one rider.

Much as I would like to see Simon back at the club, I have to agree with the last sentence.

I don't think that Simon is considering any other Elite League club other than Swindon and it appears that any Premier League spot he might take would have to fit in with his plans to ride for Swindon..

Thursday for me if Sunday will not be going. Swindon were going to sack Steady last season. He should think very carefully about next season. Speedway should be run in the evening for me not at 4.30. Better atmosphere.

You have to be joking, changing the race night for the sake of 1 rider. Tell Swindon to change their race night problem solved :D

No disrespect meant by my next comment to Simon Stead but what if he doesn't fit in with Swindon's plans. I'm sure he will but depending on their team building, he might not fit in which puts this day change argument to bed. Of course, we don't know when we will find out about Swindon's signings, do we?

I agree though, the day cannot be changed for one rider, there must be a category of other reasons to justify it.

Yeah because Ashworth will really get the fans rushing back to Owlerton!

Crowds did drop when Ricky left the club.

I don't think last season was about one rider leaving it was more of a case of the lack of a true number 1, which Ricky would be if we brought him back.

But too be honest unless unless Berwick don't run then we won't see him back at Sheffield.

The crowds didn't drop just because Ashworth left. He was a small factor of a bigger problem at Sheffield. Fact is, Ricky would hardly be an exciting signing. No doubt he'd fit the bill as a good and consistent number, but I just can't see that many people coming back for a rider who's left for one season but was here for 10.

The Crowds didnt go because the team assembled was garbage , we told promotion before the season , during and after but still they took no notice and frankly got what they deserved.

Sunday is a non starter for me , if its all about changing the race night because of wanting steady , then thats a nonsence also

look elsewhere , its not as if hes that good in any event hes a Elite league 2nd string , so no guarantee of being an out and out number one .

But the promotion will only do there own thing so probably sunday it will be

I can hear the stories now = "crowds are disappointing " , riders are not wanting to ride as riding abroad etc etc
