ROAD CLOSED
What about Ricky Ashworth ?
spin king
What about Ricky Ashworth ? I would not rule him out, but it appears that he wants to stay Berwick. But if, Berwick and Ricky cannot do a deal then he would be a viable option.

Friddy75
Hoggy is quoted saying in the speedway star that the move to Sunday is just in the discussion stage and would like to hear what the fans think. Has anyone been contacted as I can't find anywhere that the fans have been invited to express there opinions on this or any other matter

Whether the Promotion will listen to that is another matter.

Friddy75
There's no way to put anything on the Facebook page unless the specific topic is put up which it hasn't. Not really getting the fans opinion reading what the five or six of us have wrote on here. Another load of twaddle if you ask me. With such a change I would of thought the safest thing to do would be to find out as much as possible whether or not it was going to be a good idea or not. My worry is it could be so bad an idea that we may not see speedway at Sheffield after next season. Hope I'm wrong!

My worry is it could be so bad an idea that we may not see speedway at Sheffield after next season. Hope I'm wrong! I think that they are taking the matter of changing the race night very carefully, as well as the team building, that is why they have not made a snap decision. The latest news from the Speedway Star is that they are looking at a possible start time on a Sunday at tea-time,which I would imagine be something around 4.30pm start time. I can see some logic in that as 7,45pm on a Thursday night is not exactly very family friendly as 4.30pm on a Sunday afternoon, and maybe that is what they feel that making the switch more attractive. . . squall
Sure I've seen somewhere that Sunday's would be a 6pm start. Would any fans prefer Sundays to Thursdays? All I've seen/heard is stick with Thursdays.

All I've seen/heard is stick with Thursdays. Says tea time on a Sunday in the Speedway Star, I suppose what they term tea time as. Thursdays would be better for me. jenga
if you sign steady , thats the make up of your team in deep stuff. remember 2012..
spin king
Ben Barker he looking to ride in PL, I cannot see Ben riding for Sheffield. If we ride on a Thursday that will clash with Birmingham. If we ride on a Sunday it would clash with Poland Ben signed for Wroclaw last season. Halifaxtiger
The race night has nothing to do with the poor crowds. Taking the fans for granted that they would pay more and turn up regardless to watch a garbage team has everything to do with it. Absolutely spot on . Moving to Sunday's could gain 300 new fans, but lose 350... Also absolutely spot on Speedway needs more rider like Hall, after all its the entertainment business and he is just that Problem is he has stayed at the same level for years and riders like that should only be considered when you can't get someone who shows signs of improving. I can totally understand the adverse comments on here about bringing Hall back. Steady would be a fantastic number 1. It reminds me a bit of the Sean Wilson situation - no one remembers him from being a reserve at Belle Vue, they remember him from being a star at Sheffield, Steady would be the same and would attract some of the missing fans back to the terraces much more than Kauko Niemenen would - no disrespect to Kauko. Its a no brainer as far as I am concerned. Get him back and the interest is stoked up immediately. Compare that to signing Josef Franc and the point is even clearer. / What's an in and out no 1? Bjarne Pedersen ?
