Sheffield 2013

Also agree about the pairings!

I couldn't understand why Hall wasn't run at 5

I also thought we should of ran Skiddy as a heat leader at 3 or 4 at the beginning of the season with Wells at 2 when he was initially struggling. It would of taken the pressure off Ricky till he found his set up and confidence.

It may have also given Skiddy a confidence boost to push him on. Instead he's remained at 2 and his season levelled off. This maybe the reson why he remains a second string rider. The lad was riding superb but was ignored and now many are saying he needs a move to improve where as his own club could of helped push him on.

I don't think that there was a rider (except Jakobsen) that I wouldn't have in next year's team, just not all of them together again:

You have got to be kidding.

Franc, Schramm & Skidmore's averages dropped last season.Hall, Sanchez & Wells stayed the same.

Haines maybe (although I am still not convinced he is going to go up that much). Wells has some potential although I agree with Tigerowl - his performances for Sheffield simply did not match those for Wolves and that is hard to take. Scramm is worth a punt on an unrealistically low average. Skidmore maybe.

Sanchez, Franc & Hall definitely not. They simply won't go anywhere.

Sheffield need three, maybe four new faces and an attractive, competitive team with some potential thrown in. Another outfit like last season (and the poor performances and falling gates were widely predicted last March) and the Tigers will be staring closure in the face.

We've not had much talk about potential teams for a few weeks so I thought I'd try and ignite fans imaginations.

1 Grajczonek 7.44

2 Haines 5.04

3 Doolan 7.29

4 Wells 6.47

5 Masters 7.43

6 Koppe 5.00

7 Sarjeant/Nielsen 3.00

41.67

No out and out no1. But 4 heat leaders all with the possibility to be no1. Three of those are young lads with great potential and then an experienced head in Doolan. Maybe a bit questionable at reserve but Nielsen has rode at premier level or go for the local lad. 1 to 5 should be able to score home and away. Masters might qualify for under 21s, otherwise no grass trackers or long track commitments for the rest.

I'd pay to watch that team and be confident to take new fans and expect good racing, provided there's some dirt!

I agree with most of what you are saying.

I do think that maybe in Ricky Wells mind that there is unfinished business and could want to comeback to the club to show what he can do and I would take him back.

Joe Haines was about the positive from last season, but a lot of Joe's problems were down to confidence, that last season started to come back slowly, and I think that this will continue again I don't think that it will happen at a rapid rate and I think that he can forge himself a position as a decent second string at Sheffield and I would be looking for him put around a point on his average.

Of the rest.

Hall was far to inconsistent away from Sheffield

Franc to many foreign commitments

Skidmore stood still and his career is crying out for a move.

Sanchez never going to get any better.

Schramm all out trier and popular with the crowd but has suspect equipment and I don't think he has the funds to rectify the problem.

I do think that the club needs a big name maybe a Stead/ Screen as an out and out number 1, we need a character with young riders around them.

Or

A team that has more balance about it but packed with young riders that are hungry and want to challenge for the top position/

But the Management have a major rebuild and this coming season has to be one of the most important season in the clubs history because it could be the difference between the club folding or move onwards and upwards.

Nope, I don't have to be kidding.

They all have their individual merits and would benefit a lot of teams in their own way, just that together they were a poor side. You yourself have said that they need 3 or 4 new faces, which means that you would retain 3 or 4 of last year's team... which is more or less what I'm saying - I wouldn't have all of them back by any stretch, but I wouldn't be upset to see a combination of them returning with some new blood.

I think the difference is that I have ruled out three riders and you haven't.

I shudder to think what the reaction of Sheffield fans would be if the next three riders signed were Hall, Sanchez & Franc.

EDIT: I also think you need a new team manager. As some have pointed out, the balance of the side on race nights was definitely askew, and I don't think some (especially Squall) have yet forgiven that disastrous decision against Glasgow...........

This is different.. Possibly 2 outright number 1s totally different idea but could work.. 2 experienced World Cup / Grand Prix riders packed with youth up and coming riders :

Lukas Dryml 9.14

Ales Dryml 7.32

Ricky Wells 6.47

Taylor Poole or Richie Worral 5.99/5.71

Joe Haines. 5.04

Damien Koppe 5.00

Joe Jacobs/Simon Nielsen 3.00

Nielsen rather than Jacobs for me.

Jacobds rode superbly last year and deserves a PL place, but Nielsen is the better of the two.

I know but I was trying to be realistic.

To be fair I would love to see Stefan at Sheffield, he is probably one the most excting youngsters from the National League so as well as his potential to score points he would thrill us along the way. But I get the feeling that someone else will come along offer him a better deal.

I saw Joe Jacobs ride in the Under 19's at Sheffield and was impressed with how he rode, and I would give him a chance at Sheffield.

Wonder if I offered Squall up to have Stefan's babies it might just a deal clincher. :t:
