emilali
Think the original poster was putting a positive spin on being able to take to track , then you come along with your usual negativity thought you might have been pleased a team in trouble may have found a solution . Team building will be the final piece and to be honest as long as we are competitive I don't think any off us care as long as we have the Tiger's to support , I notice no other negative comments only your's why am i not surprised I wasnt being negative I was asking some pretty important questions. SCOTLAND1314
Was a great night last night . Much relief that the club will continue and that was followed by watching the GP on big screens amongst 300 speedway fans . We even had holiday makers from Bradford and Exeter with us to enjoy the night's entertainment . Also we had a fantastic special guest in Gary Havelock . A true legend of the sport . Good news, very good news. Very healthy turn out. Any further information available for common consumption? Who are the new owners? Team plans? Stadium plans? Track plans? Paulco
Good news, very good news. Very healthy turn out. Any further information available for common consumption? Who are the new owners? Team plans? Stadium plans? Track plans? New promoter is Alan Biggart , a Tigers fan of many years who now resides in Denmark . The day to day running of the club will be done by most of the STARS commitee as Alan and his main shareholder , Gordon Pairman , have their bases away from our mainland . Speaking to Alan last night , he's well aware that the level of entertainment has to be improved and talks will be made with the stadium owners , Ashfield F.C. about improving all facets of the stadium . The track and bar area should be first in the list . It is also mooted that floodlights should be erected enabling us to return to Friday night racing . That will of course be subject to planning permission being attained . The target is to get 800 minimum through the turnstiles at Ashfield on a regular basis and all avenues will be investigated in order for that to happen

MD
It is also mooted that floodlights should be erected enabling us to return to Friday night racing . That will of course be subject to planning permission being attained . Isn't it also subject to the other Friday night clubs agreeing to the change also? The closest club is Edinburgh whose crowds I don't think would be materially affected by Glasgow going to the same night. Friday night racing under floodlights, bring it on! They'd practically be able to see the Ashford floodlights!
Van Helsing
Josh Grajczonek has just posted on facebook that he has spoken to the new tigers promotion and has let them know he will be moving on for a fresh start next year. Tapeworm
Whilst welcoming the fact that anyone is keen to take over the Glasgow Tigers promotion in these difficult times, I cannot understand the aspiration to run under floodlights on Friday nights. Today we enjoyed an intriguing (if slightly meaningless) encounter with Redcar, bathed in glorious, warm sunshine. We were able to see clearly everything that happened, including in the pits. We could read our programmes in the stand without artificial lighting, and our cars were reasonably safe parked outside the stadium. The neighbours were not unduly disturbed during antisocial hours, and spectators and riders could reach home at a respectable time. Regular public transport was available to those without their own transport. And even the toilets were naturally lit ! Apart from the obvious clash with other Friday night teams causing "missing" weeks of home fixtures, the attraction of speedway greatly diminishes for me if I have to leave work early in order to sit in a cold, draughty stadium in March, April, September and October, struggling to see all that is going on, struggling to mark up my racecard in the gloom, and wondering how I'm going to get home by Late Bus if my car is nicked....... I could always go through to 'Armageddon' if I relished this prospect ! And pity the poor travelling fans and competitors dragging back down the M74/M6 in the very early hours of Saturday morning. I trust that the new promotion, before committing to this plan, will be certain that running on Friday nights will be financially beneficial and not just a romantic notion to return to the good old days in the hope that the crowds will come back. I suggest that the spectator of 2013 has higher expectations than those of the 1960s and more than a mere timing change is required to ensure the long term future of the glorious Tigers. If a major cost saving initiative is required to save Premier League speedway. how about reducing the number of riders in each team to 5 (plus, perhaps, one 'National League' reserve in attendance to cover for injuries). At present, riders often travel hundreds of miles for less than 4 minutes of competitive action per meeting. Would it not be feasible to reduce the number of riders per team and increase the number of heats they ride in ?
Greg
Im just wonder guys if Josh dose move like he has said will it have to be a full tranfer ?
Van Helsing
I would imagine they would insist on a full transfer Greg, due to the nature of our takeover and to still have some debt hanging over us. But is there are a market out there for the full transfer of any rider? nevermind Josh Grajczonek.

At present, riders often travel hundreds of miles for less than 4 minutes of competitive action per meeting. Would it not be feasible to reduce the number of riders per team and increase the number of heats they ride in ? Instead of going into the couple of reasonable and the other mostly ridiculous reasons why you are not keen for a Friday night I would like to put my thinking forward as to why it would be a good thing. We will be able to watch speedway in the best possible atmosphere and lighting, not getting burnt by the sun and being able to see the chrome on the bikes glisten under the floodlights. We will be able to read our programs under wonderful artificial light and our cars will be reasonably safe parked outside the stadium. The neighbours will not be unduly disturbed during antisocial hours as the speedway will be finished well before 11pm. Some supporters will arrive home at respectable hours, those mischievous ones may stay out and not make it back ‘til the wee small hours, it’s their choice. The evening service on the busses on Friday will be on a par with a Sunday afternoon service so all who use it will get home just fine. The thing I’m really looking forward to is lights being used in the toilets, I’ve been saying for years that I much prefer peeing under a lamp. I obviously couldn’t condone leaving work early to come to the speedway but I’m sure the start time of a guestimated half past seven would give most supporters enough time to get there. It is true enough that it will be a bit colder at night than during the day but I’ll choose to wrap up warm, look out those long johns and my thermal vest. I believe there will be plenty of adequate light to fill in your race card as for there not to be, I’m unsure whether the stadium would be deemed safe enough for spectators. Getting home after having your car nicked could be problematic but we’re a good bunch of supporters and someone will give you a lift. With the meeting being finished no later than 10pm I would suggest by the wee small hours even supporters from Newcastle a Workington would be home with the locals being home in time for Newsnight. I would suggest from my own viewpoint that I will be able to entice a few of my friends along on a Friday night a lot easier than getting them along on a Sunday afternoon and would imagine a lot of people would agree. There is also the added benefit of the track not being so dusty and more consistent, every afternoon run track has the same problems. I would also think that the food stall will sell more pies and chips and the bar will sell more drink which is surely a good thing. Not running on Sunday opens up the possibility of getting some of the most exciting young foreign riders to come ply their trade in the UK without clashes with the Polish league. That all being said, I will miss my girlfriend giving me abuse every Sunday for ruining the possibility of doing something decent with our weekend. The double backflip she performed on news that we are hoping to move to Friday night was a clear indication that those bitter arguments that I loved so much are going to be a thing of the past.
