spin king
Potentially a good signing, and could rediscover his form up in Scotland. Could be younger brother Charles Wright to fill the last spot, would give plenty of points left over to make changes if they need to. MD
Forget Mills , guy tried his best for us , but he found the travelling horrible and 4.87 is about as good as he is . Schramm is one rider i would love to have in my team , and for him to start at reserve would be a bonus . Has Rajkowski recovered from his injuries ? Last year's brief comeback with Redcar would suggest not . Sedgmen hmmmm , dont know what the story is with him , looked to have plenty of potential a couple of years ago , but last season's form would be a worry for me . There is still the well thought of Max Fricke to be had , but do we want two untried Aussies at the same time again . And , of course , the other Wright brother . Tough choices, annoyingly Campton would have fit also on 4.87 and significantly added to that. Schramm is definitely better than Chazzer Wright though I think he may be based well below the too far north line of the country. Fricke I've heard a lot about though is again untried at PL level. I wouldn't be adverse to signing him should it have to happen as we started with two 5.00 assessed's last year just that I would expect changes very quickly after the first set of averages rather than dither on like we did with O'Malley this year.
crescent girl
I would expect changes very quickly after the first set of averages rather than dither on like we did with O'Malley this year. If Glasgow had dumped Jayden O'Malley at the first opportunity it would have been very damaging (for all clubs) in view of future work permit applications for young, untried riders. As others have said on other threads, the case could yet cause problems in future.
Gazc
Wasn't so long ago he was Premier League riders champion and holding down a second string EL role at Belle Vue and Swindon . Has he underachieved in the last couple of seasons ? Yes he has , but he is only 26 and more than capable of putting a point and a half onto his average . The predictable couple of pages of juvenile drivel that followed the announcement aside , i think most Tigers fans will be extremely happy with this signing , it gives us a pretty decent heat leader trio to go into battle with . With the work getting done to the track and the stadium , a competative looking side taking shape , i'm beginning to excited about March now and the countdown to the new season can start properly . But the drivel was funny though we couldn't resist

Seen Fricke a couple of times last season and IMO if there was one untried Aussie to take agamble with it would be him.Somehow think he might have better offers from down south when he does come over.Might be wrong though.Schramm is used to long distance commuting given his earlier days with Berwick and Worky and would be a good signing on his average Edited December 23, 2012 by Fromafar
screm
Enigma would be my description of James Wright,I keep waiting for him to fulfill his potential but up to now it has just not happened .Decent signing IMO. Has talent . Over the last couple of seasons Wrights form has been very hit & miss, more miss than hit IMO.If Wright can get back to the form we know he is capable of then Glasgow have a made a good signing on a steal of an average. Agreed. And if he maintains his average he has done his job. We'd all like a rider with a low average who will improve on it. But where are those riders and also able/willing to ride at Glasgow on a Sunday with the mileage involved. I'm sure the promotion/directors would have signed him/them if possible. ciderman
Loved watching wrighty blasting round Workington a few years ago , but sadly is a shgadow of his former self, gate and go springs to mind, 0 points last time he was there. If he gets the monkey of his back, a brilliant rider, but its a big if! Will watch with interest!
Brooksy
Glad to see Wrighty get a place. Started really well with Somerset, but then failed to progress. Capable of beating heat leaders then being beaten by reserves. Perhaps the new challenge can rekindle that initial spark, but not sure he'll ever be anything but inconsistent and frustrating nowadays to be honest. msc1874
James Wright has great ability. Nobody can question that. James was a consistent performer at elite league and premier league levels not so long ago. Can he get back to that I don't see why not. I don't know why the dip in form has happened if late, I have never ridden a bike so I am not going to slag him off, but I think James could end up a 7-8.00 point rider if he can find that consistency. Lad has track craft and is a pure racer. Maybe if tigers add Charles as the 7th man maybe that would be the settled environment that James needs to find himself again. Like you say I've not ridden a bike either. But I do know that in life when things are on an up you can start thinking you're on your way to better things. When they don't materialise then motivation and self belief can suffer. If these are the reasons then maybe being in a team with Joe Screen may help him. Joe's been there and is still enjoying riding a bike, some of this may rub off on James. Who knows.

There was obviously more going on that day , than it simply a case of James riding poorly . I think the hand of Denham had an influence on that performance . I'd take comfort in his performance in an Ashfield classic , which he would have won till he got Fishered in the final .

Well he has ability and maybe only James can turn that switch back on. But he still wants to ride and as long as that's the case ability does not disappear overnight.

Unless the rules have changed you had to finish in the first two or three in an australian state title to be rewarded with a work permit. To my knowledge none of the new aussies coming in on a 5 point average have achieved this so not sure how there getting permits Junior. It would be reassuring to learn from the promoters/directors/owners/team manager that Harley Horwood will be granted the required permission to start. Sheffield and Scunthorpe must have the same worries, as will any club landing Max Fricke.

Is there not a rule that young Aussies can come in on a two year working visa but then, if they haven't attained a certain standard, the state championship rules kick in? There was something like that with Cameron Woodward some years ago I think

Wendy
Pretty sure that working visa thing was stopped a few years ago Wendy I have just Googled it and there is something called the Tier 5 youth mobility scheme for people aged between 18 & 31 (which means I only left my youth last year - I wish!!) See http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/working/tier5/youthmobilityscheme/
