Paulco
Instead of going into the couple of reasonable and the other mostly ridiculous reasons why you are not keen for a Friday night I would like to put my thinking forward as to why it would be a good thing. Â We will be able to watch speedway in the best possible atmosphere and lighting, not getting burnt by the sun and being able to see the chrome on the bikes glisten under the floodlights. We will be able to read our programs under wonderful artificial light and our cars will be reasonably safe parked outside the stadium. The neighbours will not be unduly disturbed during antisocial hours as the speedway will be finished well before 11pm. Some supporters will arrive home at respectable hours, those mischievous ones may stay out and not make it back 'til the wee small hours, it's their choice. The evening service on the busses on Friday will be on a par with a Sunday afternoon service so all who use it will get home just fine. The thing I'm really looking forward to is lights being used in the toilets, I've been saying for years that I much prefer peeing under a lamp. Â I obviously couldn't condone leaving work early to come to the speedway but I'm sure the start time of a guestimated half past seven would give most supporters enough time to get there. It is true enough that it will be a bit colder at night than during the day but I'll choose to wrap up warm, look out those long johns and my thermal vest. I believe there will be plenty of adequate light to fill in your race card as for there not to be, I'm unsure whether the stadium would be deemed safe enough for spectators. Getting home after having your car nicked could be problematic but we're a good bunch of supporters and someone will give you a lift. With the meeting being finished no later than 10pm I would suggest by the wee small hours even supporters from Newcastle a Workington would be home with the locals being home in time for Newsnight. Â I would suggest from my own viewpoint that I will be able to entice a few of my friends along on a Friday night a lot easier than getting them along on a Sunday afternoon and would imagine a lot of people would agree. There is also the added benefit of the track not being so dusty and more consistent, every afternoon run track has the same problems. I would also think that the food stall will sell more pies and chips and the bar will sell more drink which is surely a good thing. Not running on Sunday opens up the possibility of getting some of the most exciting young foreign riders to come ply their trade in the UK without clashes with the Polish league. Â That all being said, I will miss my girlfriend giving me abuse every Sunday for ruining the possibility of doing something decent with our weekend. The double backflip she performed on news that we are hoping to move to Friday night was a clear indication that those bitter arguments that I loved so much are going to be a thing of the past. Superb mate . I get that too ....." We cant go anywhere on a Sunday cause you're going to that bloody speedway blah , blah , blah . I want to go down the coast blah , blah , blah " . Friday night speedway at Ashfield would save me a lot of earache .

weejeemy
I'm just delighted that the Tigers will be running next year. I have no intention of looking for problems before they exist. Good on you Mr Biggart.

freddyfivetoes
Any further word on Fridays? Â Like many people, I prefer speedway under floodlights, meetings run swiftly and without dust. Â None of which has ever seemed possible at Ashfield -- until now

MD
The Aussie exodus continues. Mason has posted on Facebook that he won't be riding for Glasgow in 2013 Â We had that one worked out long before the season ended and he had scarpered back home before our fixtures had finished. Frustrating that the Glagow owners and key sponsors funded his air fares, transport and entry into British speedway. I sometimes think where we are taking on a young rider in these circumstances again we should base it on a 2 year contract. Â No doubt Campton has signed for someone else, perhaps one of the clubs that he guested for many times! In the current climate, selling his registration to another club is fantasy, a loan fee is likely.

I think it proves a case ,British Promoters should be sponsering young brits for 2 years and helping British speedway instead of Aussie speedway.
