Robinh88
Don't see what the fuss is with Aspegren, bit of an enigma really for me. Seemed to beat riders better than him easily then struggle against the lesser ones Consistant at home and some good scores away from home, a real enigma taking some big scalps notably Doyle from the back at Somerset.I don't see the fuss either... Teal
You are all keen to mention the away meetings- and fair enough, I wasn't there (apart from local derbies) to cast my opinion. All I'm saying tho is at home, where he should be at his best, I am miffed to see where all the high praise is coming from, but thats just one opinion. While we're on the subject, Doyle is another one I don't understand the hype about! Edited December 5, 2012 by Teal

Teal
No fuss but talking about taking Doyle from behind at Somerset, as if that's a massive massive achievement???
wjm
Keeping a hold of Aspegren would be great, he could stick at least a point on his average next season IMO, I would take him before a lot of riders who already have 7.00 + averages. X I think he was a consistent performer, very reliable. Good to have in any team, I think. Probably out of the price range for us, unfortunately. Suspect from what you say that you may not be a connoisseur of the finer aspect of the sport its not all about gate and go. There are some of us who appreciate the rider who can vary his riding style and adapt to the condition to achieve the optimum end result. Lets just say if Mr Aspegren was offered to Somerset it woulden't take them long to make up their minds. And just for the record his home avg was 6.88 which for a rider signed on a 5.68avg aint bad all i will say is if Robin is a Bandit watch him go this season. There will be more than one team trying to sign him IMO.Its only the rolling averages that he is on 6.40 .Shielfield was probably not his favourite track but was getting the hang of it by the end of season, like you say his skill on the more technical tracks was excellent.I certainly have him back.

One good race? Whats the other big scalps you memtion then? Overhyped rider. Far too inconsistent. Smith a far far far better option

Erm I'm well aware of there being more to speedway than gate and go! I'm perhaps one of the few fans who would prefer to see a team being beat at home if it meant there was some good quality over taking throughout the meeting! Something which was missing from the majority of speedway I witness this year!

Goldmember06
I saw him away a lot and his away performances were better than home? example: 13 at Redcar 12 at Plymouth 13 at Workington 10 at Sheffield 12 at Somerset 10 at Leicester 11 at Scunthorpe Oh we'll as long as his away form is immense bullocks to what he's like at Berwick! Sure he was a costly rider for what he scored

Pinny
People suggesting the injury prone Kozza Smith as a better option than Robin Aspegren are barking mad. Aspegren is an all out racer, exciting to watch, scores plenty of points and is good on pretty much any track. For a rider who is so exciting and misses the gate more often than not, he doesn't fall off very often. Granted his air fares make him a bit more expensive but he is a class act. Very likely he will end up at Somerset however I havent heard more on the subject for a few weeks now. Aspegren or Smith is a no brainer for me... Robin every time. screm
I just think he's been hyped to be better than what he actually is. You could say that about quite a few riders. Id like Aspegren to be in our team for next season,he showed enough last season to make me think he can be more than a capable scorer next year.
DSC67
Web-site says that two riders are due to be present on Friday night at the forum , you don't have to be inspector Rebus to work out this probably means that they are British based riders , I would like to think that one of them will be Ricky Ashworth , but as to the other one ? Anyone know if Matty Weathers went home to Oz this winter ? Or is the other rider present going to be our official no 8 Liam Carr ?
