crescent girl
Well here goes . Am ready to be shot down in flames. To the commercial team at berwick bandits. Why not look at something like the Berwick independant traders Bandits. Get say ten local busnisess to join forces and sponsor the team at an affordable amount for them. Give them each an advert on the polyfoam fence and a joint page in the program . This might be attractive to the them. Also to get the crowd level up go visit the companies in the area that have large workforces and giue them money off vouchers for a specific meeting where a lower crowd is expected. Send riders to visit schools. And finally on a saturday have a stall on the market with a dvd player showing good races and crashes ( shame about the crashes bit but sadly many people like to see these ). This is constructive stuff. The schools visits were already happening, but other suggestions are there for consideration, and it is refreshing to read a post like this instead of attacks on the promotion. Any more good ideas, people? The ball's now rolling.

Nice to see some intellect being applied on this thread! The idea of getting a co-operative of sponsors is an interesting idea. Potentially small businesses get the advantage of main team sponsor coverage, but within their budget. I could see it also being good for their business network. I think some of the other stuff is being done already?
Fromafar
For what it is worth I would like to see some alterations to the track which IMO might improve the chances of more passing. While I realise that the football club will not allow anything be taken off the inside line of the circuit I think if the majority of the banking was taken off the 3rd/4th bend it would slow the entrance into the bend and riders would maybe use the inside line a lttle more thus creating more passing oppertunities round the outside as now happens on the 1st /2nd bend nowadays.IMO there is only 1 very fast line round 3rd /4th bend when the track is slick, and the inside half of the track is never used.Just a suggestion. Nothing wrong with the track shape for me,and the banking on the 3rd & 4th turn should lend itself to over taking, but for me its how the track is prepared,as you say there is virtually one line which does nothing for overtaking. As we have seen in previous years if the track is prepared well we can have some great racing. bigeddiechek
Just to play Devil's advocate here. Is the variation in lines ridden and the quality of racing completely down to the track, completely down to the riders, or somewhere in-between? If it is that latter, how does one quantify this? Teal
Could it be down to the varying degrees of engine tuning and amount of money riders can afford to put into their machinery? Bring on standardised machines!
bigeddiechek
Somewhere in-between and each fans personal opinion is MY answer your question. OK, fans' personal opinons is irrelevant. Track prep, or riders? I know which one gets the most chat amongst speedways fans. I mean, it is an incredibly exciting sport, and you turn up to hear folk talking about how much muck is on the track. Therein lies part of the problem. bigeddiechek
What problem are you relating too. The perception is that only strange people go to speedway, one comment made to me was "It's like some kind of social experiment." There has to be some truth in it when one reads a lot of the comments on here. Talking about muck on a track as opposed to guys hooring round a track at 70 mph on bikes with no brakes kind of sums it up to me. Sell it as an extreme sport to people who will appreciate it, let the rest join their local horticultural society.
