screm
I thought that 'Dick' on the centre green had been replaced for this season? I turned up tonight and was horrified to find him still there. I thought a DJ had taken over centre green duties? Maybe last night was a swansong. He told me a couple of weeks back he was doing the Ben Fund and then taking a back seat . He'll probably fill in now and again when necessary . george.m
Can't help but think some Berwick fans would be unhappy if the shale was the wrong colour.

Different voice in box so that might be reason. Never read anything about Dick replaced except a new guy was joining team?

Not much of a fan of Dick Barrie but theres no denying his knowledge of speedway, and he is good at what he does.Thing is maybe what he does has had its day and its time for a new, fresher, modern approah to speedway meeting presentation.Only time will tell. Was reliably told Dick was in conversation last night after meeting with the new Glasgow presenter!

I turned up tonight and was horrified to find him still there. I thought a DJ had taken over centre green duties? Nae luck then - Dick will smile if he learns of your horror. He was pretty good on Saturday, I thought -- still knows so much, never uses notes or carries a clipboard. His shoes will take some filling. The DJ you mention was in the announcer's box, did a fair job for a first-timer.
freddyfivetoes
No he's not . Who actually is , is still uncertain I am told the new Glasgow presenter was at Berwick on Saturday, watching and learning. They then had a chat with Dick Barrie after the meeting. OK, let's discuss your valid point, well-stated. You suggest a newer, fresher, modern approach -- but what is that going to be?
Robinh88
I don't really care about who our announcer is. Only ever listened to Dennis anyway.. Hope Berwick do a good season (with a few passes)
screm
OK, let's discuss your valid point, well-stated. You suggest a newer, fresher, modern approach -- but what is that going to be? Must admit Im not that fussed how they go about presenting the riders parade, nor the inbetween race comments.Ive always stated that I wasnt Dick Barries biggest fan,nor they way he went about his presentation, but he had his fans and if last saturday was his last then he will be missed by some. If by way of a modern approach to presentation they are going to play newer music, and have a more youthful approach, then thats fine by me,the only way to find out if something new works is by giving it a go,time will tell. Much more important IMO is track prep, thorny subject to some I know, but surely its good quality racing will keep people coming back.
DSC67
Just hope he doesn't take a front seat at Glasgow then. Unless his Sunday radio show gets cancelled , there's no chance of that Edited March 12, 2013 by millen
luluthetiger
Unless his Sunday radio show gets cancelled , there's no chance of that Really on the wrong track's thread here, but he was fantastic at Shawfield in 1988. Glasgow owe him an awful lot. He's been on radio on a Sunday for over thirty years, and has already admitted he had been approached about taking over on the infield at Ashfield this year, but declined. Nice to see more Dick and less about the racing nothing changes glad i will never make an MC.. Good to see you are still about CC Happy New Year.
