Berwick Bandits 2013

Recommended Posts

Let us as fans be positive that we will be running in the PL in 2013 what kind of team do we want to see out on track if the averages stay at 42.50 how would this team do.

1 Ricky Ashworth 8.84

2 Todd Kurtz 4.38

3 Kozza Smith 7.19

4 Robin Aspegen 6.40

5 Seb Alden 7.58

6 Alex Edberg 4.36

7 Nicki Barrett 3.75

Total 42.50

In a perfect world at the AGM the points limit would be put up to 45 so we could fit Bellego back in.

Excellent bring Todd Kurtz and one track Edberg back in and leave out Bellego, great stuff

Not far away. Kozza Smith for either Bellego or Aspgren and I'd agree with you.

Given that Bellego should become an asset, going on cost aloan, should get him into the team.Nothing against Kozza Smith though but he comes with a loan fee,as does Aspegren of course.

The two Id drop from the team I posted is Albin and Edberg,Albin because I dont think he will attain anything like a 5pt average and we cant afford to be throwing away points, and Edberg because IMO we will run for a good few meetings with r/r or worse still going with NL guests to him if he`s still at reserve.

If they're going to run with Edberg (flights, hospital fees, NL guests as replacement once Barrett overtakes his average) and Albin (how much is it going to cost to fly an NJL: rider half way round the world to house & feed him) then, frankly, they deserve all the get - or don't get - to pay into the bank on a Monday morning.

Berwick have made it clear (had you wanted to listen) that Albin will pay his own fares, and base himself in the Berwick area.. Also, what makes you think Alden, Aspegren and Edberg don't pay their own fares in and out each week? Your ill-will towards Edberg, apparently wishing injury upon him, is also disappointing, to say the least.

On a different note, it will become clear this month if Bellego is a Berwick or Glasgow asset. The decision will presuambly affect thinking on his future.

I am pretty sure there are no fares as such paid to Scandanavian riders by PL clubs. Obviously, their points-payment scructure may reflect their expected travelling when contracts are agreed.

As for the awful comment about hospital fees, I am not disappointed. I am appalled.

Based on his repeated non-riding absences, it hardly seems a huge leap of faith to believe it'll only be a matter of time before once again guests are being dragged in.

If your warped mind wants to interpret that as "wishing him ill", then that says more about you than me.

If you're naive to think that the Swedes don't take into account air fares when negotiating deals, then so be it.It doesn't actually matter whose credit card is used to pay the airline, the money ultimately comes out of the club.

It could be easily argued that that's a price worth paying in the case of Alden (asset) and even Aspegren (+ loan fee).

As far as throwing 5 teambuilding points into the wind on a non-English speaking second-halfer, it'll be in keeping with Sike, Hertrich, and to a large extent, Mudgway.

All you lot on here that are slagging off the likes of edberg and albin want to put your money where your mouth and help the promotion out, maybe after that you could sign the riders you want and also more importantly we might have speedway at berwick next season!!!!!, forget about writing all these neagtive posts and get out and help your speedway club survive!!!!!!!!

Whilst the DMU agreement has nominated Championship meetings only for the UK clubs to pay the riders airfares, SVEMO has a high top figure for the UK club to pay for any meeting within their agreement. A Swede is more expensive than a Dane. Once the upper limit in the SVEMO agreement has been reached, the rider is then responsible for his own fares.

1. Ricky Ashworth (8.84)

2. Tyson Nelson (5.33)

3. Kozza Smith (7.19)

4. David Bellego (5.27)

5. Seb Alden (7.58)

6. Micky Dyer (4.54)

7. Nicki Barrett (3.75)

Total - 42.5

No chance of Nelson, who (if he is released from Australia to ride in UK is at Rye House) so put Facundo Albin in his place and you've got a pretty fair team, with a lot of potential and the all-important ability to please at home.

Only problem is only four are assets (providing Bellego get the the nod) and there might be a case for trying to buy contracts of Dyer and Smith. Ricky AShworth is a little bit too old for what would be a ma\jor investment at this time.

Well here goes . Am ready to be shot down in flames.

To the commercial team at berwick bandits.

Why not look at something like the Berwick independant traders Bandits. Get say ten local busnisess to join forces and sponsor the team at an affordable amount for them. Give them each an advert on the polyfoam fence and a joint page in the program . This might be attractive to the them. Also to get the crowd level up go visit the companies in the area that have large workforces and giue them money off vouchers for a specific meeting where a lower crowd is expected. Send riders to visit schools. And finally on a saturday have a stall on the market with a dvd player showing good races and crashes ( shame about the crashes bit but sadly many people like to see these ).
