montie
Yet another examples of that British disease of encouraging sportsmen to step down rather than step up Nothing against Joe at all, rules fit etc but yet again a rider who is far and above the NL is back
vog
What is a joke! Probably that a guy who has, by all accounts, had a fantastic PL season can come in a couple of days before the deadline for changes and double up. I understand the need to replace Adam, but it does make a mockery of the sport.

Backless
Simon Stead, Ben Barker & Josh Auty knocked them back then..... Looking forward to Pearson's next bellowing about the Danish / Swedish / Polish production line, giving riders the chance to progress. richiej95
He may be "stepping down" but the attitude to doubling up riders be it EL/PL or PL/NL on here is one I don't agree with. Surely if Joe isn't getting EL rides, then riding more and more is only going to help him progress? Back to Dudley, good signing IMO. Having a good season and knows Monmore very well
Heathen1984
We have lost the best rider in the league, surely we have to replace him with the best available. Some of the s**t i read on here gets me mad. What should dudley have done then with no roynon?

vog
Rider replacement Or guests. We have lost the best rider in the league, surely we have to replace him with the best available. Some of the s**t i read on here gets me mad. What should dudley have done then with no roynon? Well, yes, but it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth that a guy who, at the beginning of the season, appeared to have no want to ride NL has decided to take a bit of easy money at the end of the season. Fromafar
At the end of the day it does nothing for the credibility of the sport. Trying to attract new people into speedway must be difficult in all 3 leagues with rules that are in place.
villiers210
I find some of the comments on here hysterical to be honest. As far as I am aware, the National League (while it is a development league) was, the last time I looked, still a league and as such that makes it competitive. Despite all the bleating and claims of "win at all costs Dudley" (which implies bending or altering the rules to suit themselves) as far as I am aware, Dudley have always worked within the boundaries of the rule book and what is legal. I make no apology whatsoever for supporting a club who has an "in it to win it" attitude though. Whats the point if you're not going to give it your very best shot? Dudley started off this year with exactly the same points limit as everybody else. The fact that they made some very astute signings is to their credit, but some people would like to shout "cheat". So now Adam Roynon is unfortunately injured. Would you expect us to replace him with an untested 3 pointer on the eve of the play-offs? Someone suggests we should use a guest or R/R. Why? Because that would suit your club better? Name me one team who has run into injury trouble and have not done their level best to come up with the best possible alternative. Stoke have when they signed Simon Lambert. Mildenhall haven when they recalled Baseby etc etc. Perhaps the next suggestion is to do what another club did recently and field a 5 man team? If any team (especially at the point of reaching the play-offs) have their top rider injured, please tell me what is wrong with replacing him with the best possible alternative (whose average by the way is lower than the guy he's replacing).

Dont think anyone is calling Dudley cheats or win at all cost, they, along with me are questioning the rules i think, Lambert and Baseby are slightly different as they didnt have team places,Joe does and has been riding well for Sheff in the PL, No doubt Joe will be the heathens entry to the NLRC also................

I have no problem with Dudley bringing someone in. They were massively unlucky in losing Adam. Had they brought in somebody who had no club, then that is one thing, but to bring someone in who, on the face of it, just wants a couple more meetings before the season ends, then that is a different scenario. Either way, I hope that Joe isn't in the NLRC, as it just wouldn't sit right. Perry and Morris should be their 2 representatives.
berniev123
In my opinion..............it is like for like, but it is the Heathens who are doing it this time, so it must be bad Mildenhall have done the same thing with Isherwood at the lower end, Stoke did the same thing with Simon Lambert & Scunthorpe are still declaring a certain Jerran Hart at #1 & ran Paul Cooper as a guest rider for the biggest part of last season when it suited them after he had retired as well! I find it a joke that the NL is still by all being called a Development League...........hasn't been that for years! Anyways, heres to a good set of safe meetings in the Play Offs & KO Cup for all who qualify or have qualified through their endevours this Season.
