whowasthatberntpersson
If Bridger's huge shove on Alex Davies was an unsatisfactory start i'll start watching table tennis. That was a ridiculous decision, Bridger clearly caused Davies to take what ended up being a nasty fall, and it was deliberate. Referring inconsistencies particularly relating to false starts and first bend incidents are a real issue in speedway, needs to be sorted. Bomo1
Got to say that this meeting was a trully appaling advert for speedway. A very good job so few people turned up. For the first time in my life i actually left a meeting early due to boredom (i'd had enough at 10.10 and heat 13, my uncle baled after heat 12 but what seemed a 1/2 an hour before me!). Who was the referee because i can't find out who it was anywhere. Shocking display by him/her and it ought to be the last meeting they officiate. I missed why Josh Auty ended up back in heat 3 but whatever the reason it would have to be classed farcical. A farce that removed the importance and meaning of the meeting. In heat 12 Grajczonek and Campton were sat at the tapes for what seemed like 10 minutes with no sign of the GB riders, or more importantly the 2 minute warning. Did he forget. By that time did we care! I'm not even going to mention the tractor coming out for a 10 minute grade of the track 1 heat after a 20 minute delay (whilst they fixed a fence panel because of a crash) when no sign of the tractor was seen. Sorry, i just did mention it! The track was/is hopeless, Not a single proper overtake until Auty in heat 12. A depressing sight to see the effort Lewis Bridger was putting in without any headway being made on clearly slower riders. Next year's season ticket money and sponsorship money are staying firmly in my pocket until i see those physical track changes made. I'm afraid the track shape has no redeeming features. My money isn't being spent on promises or benefits of the doubt next year, it will be out when i can see those changes. finally, due to the crowd being so thin and the extra time we were getting before the start of the meeting and between heats i decided to put my old concert promoter head back on for the night and do a walk round head count! There were between 650-700 people watching last night. Anyways, hopefully, with a couple of weeks off, i'll be forgot all this and feel passionate for the Lions (if not for the track) come the next Leicester home meeting but not holding my breathe. Mick. You can't blame the referee or the track for that, he's like it every week!!
whowasthatberntpersson
It was a very drawn out meeting held on a bitterly cold night. Once again any hope of drawing casual observers back has been lost...it was pushing the patience of many die hard speedway people so what hope have we got of any part timers enjoying it? I guess any hard riding which took place can be partly attributed to not having a cat in hells chance of passing without making a forceful move... Incidentally Alex Davies was quite severely concussed, and Nick Morris had damage to both hands and a knee (as well as a bike almost completely written off, engine n all) Davies had rode brilliantly all night and was in line for a paid maximum, prior to being escorted to the fence. robert72
if it keeps you out of the place i hope they dont make any changers. So i take it you want leicester shut down then as a top meeting like yesterday shows fans are losing patience at BP by either not turning up or by walking out way before the meeting had ended and you hope just me will stay away, you need to wake up before leicester is doomed for another 28 years. Parsloes 1928 nearly
Like others I did leave after heat 10 (at the point a very unwelcome interval was called) - but I had an ailing car which I needed to nurse gently all the back to London!! The meeting was very drawn out and goodness knows I've been to a few of them over the years! I LOVE Beaumont Park for all it represents and for being, er, in Leicester but a real shame that there wasn't more urgency applied to getting the racing on, bearing in mind it was bitterly cold (especially for mid-Sept.) and a school-night for youngsters. No wonder there were dozens of parents with school-age kids making that same early (well not early in time, as gone half 9!) exit after heat 10... The track grading after heat four (an HOUR into the meeting...!) was the longest I've EVER seen - and that includes much tractor time at Iwade! - so unsure why that happened and then to see the tractor out just three heats later was more than a tad demoralising.. On track i really thought with Bridger & Barker on song the GB side had a chance but Lewis was very out of sorts and Ben has taken a few big hits this week and it took its toll. Birks was the best Brit by far - no idea why Bridger and not Ashley got nominated for heat 15 but I was half way down the M1 by then!!!! We all do still need to celebrate Leicester and I wish I could go more often than once a year but I think some quickening up on the running of meetings would do some good.. BTW who WAS the referee - it wasn't announced and no-one seemed to know.? Whoever it was, was clearly giving their two minute warning button pressing finger a night off and that didn't help either.. But having said that, the Clerk of the Course/Pits Marshall can and should be getting riders out promptly on track regardless of the time warning siren.. Parsloes 1928 nearly
Leicester Lions Speedway Team about an hour ago Apology Last night's meeting should have been a night to remember but for many reasons it did not turn out that way and we apologise for the length of time it took to complete. Apart from one or two occasions when things have not gone so smoothly we think we can all say that overall the season has been a success. People have said just that, but we are not foolish to think that everything is perfect. So we would like to hear from you about the things where we fall short so we can address the issues. Some we will be aware of and are currently being addressed and others will no doubt be surprises so don't hold back. We will be handing out feedback forms at our next meeting on Friday 28th September so give us the good, the bad and the ugly and we promise to publish the findings and what we are going to do about addressing the issues. David and Alan I think that's fair enough.
robert72
How many of those last night are on email ? how many would return even if they had an email, you need to look at the damage not only of last night but many nights through the season and the promise of the track being changed last winter
speedy den boy
Ive never been to this track so maybe i was dreaming, but didnt sam Ermolenko have a hand in the design of the track from scratch? What is the problem is it he shape ,or just not being prepared right?.Seems a shame for this to happen when it really should have been a superb racing track.
