Mildenhall's Reserve Pairing?

Where now for Mildenhall, the easy option would be Terry Daley and Graver. However I personally dont think that will be strong enough for the play offs. I understand this is a development league and I feel Mildenhall have done well this year bringing some lads on,just imagine if we still had Stoneman and Bates fit?

That would be an awesome line up.

I have had a look at the averages out there and I'm not certain really where we can turn.

Any ideas?

No idea mate.Thought i read somewhere that Graver has blown his engine,so he might not be an option.

We have been unlucky with the injuries to our reserves this season. If we still had Nathan and Josh there i have no doubt we would mount a serious challenge for the league and koc.

Having two novice 3 pointers at reserve for the business end of the season will be tough imo.Puts a lot of pressure on our top 5 to perform big.

Really don't know what other options are out there, other than bringing in a new 3 point rider :(

From what i saw of your recent visit to Monmore Wood, you have more than enough to beat The Heathens, JJ is riding better than i have ever seen him ride, Nielsen can beat anyone in the NL, Halsey is more than adequate as a 2nd string come 3rd Heat Leader, Blackbird is on form at the right time, and is as good 3rd heat leader as any Team has in the NL, it was only a lowish score from your Guest No1 as opposed to what Cam would likely have got which let you down, so your top 5 seem to be equal if not slightly better than The Heathens Top 5, especially with Royno likely to not be fit to ride, or not 100%, so yes maybe you will need a decent reserve, but all will not be lost with RTD, and AN Other at reserve, but obviously not as strong as having Stoneman or Bates, just as we are likely to not be as strong with the likelihood of not having Royno as rider and Captain, but first there is the small matter of P/O Semi Finals to negotiate.

Back on topic (not every thread is about Dudley)

Lets hope Cam is fit to return soon and there are no more fixtures clashes for Lewis and fingers crossed the promotion can pull something out of the bag for a reserve- have read joe g blew an engine and isnt available not sure if that means for the rest of season or just Buxton meeting but what about josh bailey? Is he eligible ?

Josh Bailey looks to be a talented kid, but would be a little harsh to throw him in at the deep end at this stage of the season.

I hear Bates isn't that far off from being fit again. Not sure whether he can be re-declared into the side or not though.

Forgive me, if we are irelevance, but in the spirit of your reply, Cam & Lewis Reserves  .Oh you must have mistaken this for being a PL Topic.

Are there any teams who have finished or almost finished their meetings?. If teams are out of the KOC and not in the trophy there could be riders around who would appreciate the chance of riding for another few weeks. Just a thought, and I'm sure it's something which is already being looked into, if it's an option.

Mildenhall Press Release:

Mildenhall Fen Tigers have snapped up former Stoke rider Gareth Isherwood to fill their Number Seven berth left vacant after injuries to Josh Bates and then his replacement Aaron Baseby.

The 23-year-old Mancunian hasn't ridden this year after damaging his back in a fall, ironically when he was riding for Stoke at Mildenhall last season. But now fully fit, he has been practising at Loomer Road and is ready to get going again.

"The main thing is Gareth is keen to race and be part of a team," said Mildenhall co-promoter Michael Lee. "His average fits, so to start with he'll ride in three meetings against Stoke in the Cup on Saturday, then at our place against Buxton in the Trophy, and also against the Isle of Wight again in the Trophy. By then we'll know if Josh is fit to ride again. Gareth knows that and has told me that he is determined to prove his worth. I can't ask for anymore than that."

Hopes are now high that Bates will recover earlier than expected from his broken arm and could be ready to return in a fortnight. Lee continued, "I know rumours have started that we won't be able to re-declare Josh in the team if he is ready, but we have checked with the authorities who have assured us that we can."

Number One Cameron Heeps will still be missing this weekend. He was expected to be in the line-up for the Cup semi-final at Stoke, but he has now been ruled out of any return this weekend, according to Lee: "He is now seeing a specialist next Monday and we'll have a much better idea of whether he'll be fit for the Trophy match against the Isle of Wight. But whatever happens, I am confident that Cam and Josh will be ready for the Play-Offs which is great news and means we will be at full strength."

The Trophy match against the Isle of Wight has been brought forward a week and now takes place on Sunday 23rd September at West Row (4.30pm). The 30th September has now been pencilled in for the home leg of the play-off semi-final.
