The White Knight
Unlike some of the media reports put out by speedway promoters, I don't think that a single bit of what Stephens says is unreasonable. I shall endeavour to be there for the first meeting of the season - and I predict a lock out. I hope you are right HT. Plymouth deserve a decent Team. :approve: Edited December 6, 2012 by The White Knight
Roger MARTIN
While its fantastic news that Plymouth have the two year extension is there any indication as to what will happen after that. Is there any possibility that the land may ultimately be purchased from the college by the new consortium? I would think that the two year extension will start after next year, because there is already a year to run on it, i'm not sure on that but if it is then three years will give the consortium plenty of time to decide what they are going to do i would think, i think buying the sight would be the way ahead, because that will not only give them the site the track is on, it will also give them the land the Rugby Pitch is on next to it, and if you put them both together you have a piece of land to build a very good Speedway Stadium on. If the price is right and not what the College have been talking then there is every possibility that during this lease extension the Promotion will try and buy the land but who knows. I wouldn't pick any of the riders Somerset have signed to be in my dream team, three good heat leaders, but the rest no thanks, if you sign any rider with a cma of over nine you end up with two weak reserves like we did last year when we had two over nine, and like Somerset have this year when they have one over nine, one of eight and one of 7.44, using 24.61 on three riders, next year there will be a lot of presser on Newman and Davies, we know the top three will do well, but that means nothing if your second string don't, i just hope Lee don't go down that same road. keyham
Roger your slipping I have No1 9.+ and 2 x reserves 4.+ each and they all add together 42.50. so it can be done.

Are you sure Dave, Perry is 3.53 and they have 3.36 for their last rider or are you talking about Plymouth!? It's been a long day! lol As for the Somerset team, since it's being discussed I think their heatleader trio is excellent. It's quite right that having 3 big hitters doesn't leave a lot to play with but in the case of Somerset they have got riders who are all on the upward curve, it's no guarantee that they'll perform every week but lets not forget Newman scored a few points in the EL last season. We've had a habit of signing 'filler' riders who are on the way down and don't improve their averages. It's a bit of a risk for the Rebels with their second strings and reserves but they'll be fine at home and will do OK away. Not sure they'll be top 3 like last season mind. Yep but at least they have three heatleaders, last year we only had two! It's all about getting riders that can improve and I think Somerset's will. I'd have loved Doyle and Morris as our top 2. Mike i agree with you about Doyle and Morris, yes they are good riders both i would not have both in my team, i think any rider on a 8 point cma should be at number 1 in any PL side, i would take him has our number 1 yes, i don't agree with you about Davies and Newman improving in the main body of the team, at reserve then i can see Newman doing a good job, but at number 4 it will be hard for him, and by having to weak reserves the option if he don't do well of him droping down will be hard also unless one of the reserves out scores him, i think the starting line-up that Somerset had last year was spot on, and was by far the best side to come to the sba, and was very unlucky not to win the play-off come the end. Fair comment Roger, I'll agree to disagree reference Newman but certainly agree that the Somerset team of last year was better balanced than this. More to the point lets hope for some team news of our own soon.

ancient mariner
History though proves Somerset always build good sides though unlike Plymouth I'm afraid to say! Let's just hope the new promotion can build a decent side and not one which will struggle! The bit of your post I've highlighted should mean that the Devils will be a much better structured team than previously. It was no different when the Devils were in the CL/NL, was it? Roger MARTIN
This is something like the line-up i would like to see at the sba. 1, Craig Cook 7.76. 2, Emiliano Sanchez 5.83. 3. Cory Gathercole 6.59. 4, Ricky Wells 6.41. 5, Dakota North 6.89. 6, Todd Kurtz 5.15. 7, 3.77.
