Plymouth 2013

Recommended Posts

As a Redcar fan i will give you my view on Dilger. He had the 2 good away meetings at Plymouth and Rye.

Also had alot of very poor away. Put in a few decent performances at home. Tended to fall and has a real awkward style exiting the bends.

My gripe was commitment, missed important meetings, favouring to ride in non FIM meetings on the continent.

I personally do not want him back with the Bears in 2013, and as he has already signed a contract to ride in Denmark next year shows that where his main preference is.

May i also congratulate the new 4 man consortium. A very useful 5 signing's. Think Proctor will become a master of the tight St.Boniface Arena track. He will struggle to acheive his 9.22 starting average, but will be a genuine number 1 home and away.

I think if it is down to his commitment then i can't see Plymouth signing him, but i don't think Ben Reade is a PL rider, last year most of his points for Stoke was at reserve in the NL, that don't don't make him a PL rider, this year we shall see how good he is riding has an heat leader in the Stoke team, then if he does well maybe he can give it a go in the PL, but going on last year when riding for the Devils, he did nothing in my opinion to show he is a PL rider yet, if other supporters think he is then i must be watching a different rider.

In my opinion, Ben Reade aint ready for PL yet, you missed out on JJ who was the next rider ready to move up to PL, Manzares hmmm not so sure, there are better Americans out there than he is, Austin Novatril is one who springs to mind.

However the Top 5 aint looking to bad to be honest, but the remaining 2 need to be half decent, otherwise they will still struggle.

Only saw Austin Novatril once but my God was I impressed. That was about 2 years ago now so I'm guessing he's 18 and come on a bit. I'd sign him on a 5 point average,. Would have to agree on Manzares, seen him a handful of times, 3 point PL rider only IMO.

i am sure lee has done his homework on gino so lets give him a chance before we write him off,as for ben read remember he was riding in the main body of the team alot of the time last season and everyone is always banging on about the young brits being given a chance so lets do that give the lad a chance i,m sure if ben finds it hard going lee will take the nessecary steps some people are never happy look at the difference and positivity we have as a club this season compared to last, also todd being at reserve could be a trump card

Lewy if Lee wants to give Ben Reade a place in the team then i will support that, but in my opinion i dont thin he is a PL rider yet, it's only an opinion, and i will support the team no matter who rides for the team.

Yes, there is a lot of positivity, down in Plymouth, but with that comes raised expectations, definately you are stronger than Sheffield, but can we compare you with your nearest rivals, up in Somerset? no i dont think so, lower mid table would be the best i could see, and a lot will depend on Hot Toddy down at reserve.

Get Seemond & co to look at putting an NL team out in 2013, we could certainly do with some more competition from down there, and riding under The Falcons banner would go down well with the shareholders.

After the last two seasons 'lower mid table' will be like soaring with the eagles!

As regards your proposal for a Falcons team, please see the link (you must be psychic!) - though not going as far as NL:

I have just read this 'Link'. I must say that I am very impressed with what Seemond Stephens has to say. He seems a very intelligent chap with loads fo bright ideas. He, his Colleagues and Plymouth deserve this venture to be a success.

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (with a little extra significance at Plymouth Speedway). :t::drink: :drink:

It was asked at the meeting on thursday about running a junior team, Ashley did say that they would be trying to have a 10 o/clock finish instead of a 9.30 finish but would not say that running a NL was something they would look at, i think that would be down to the Council, and i can't see them going for that, but i would be happy to watch two meetings on a friday, and maybe pay extra to do that, but i'm happy to pay the £14 for what they are asking for next year.

You have to support the ideas of the promotion and the team manager. It is a very rare occurrence that a team that starts a season finishes that season intact, no matter where they are positioned come the end. Changes will happen, for whatever reasons as the season progresses, but the main objective is complete. We are at the starting tapes come March. Whoever puts on a bib for any team should be given the chance to prosper and grow, and shown positive backing from all of their supporters, then as the season progresses, there will be ample opportunity to pass comment on how you see things are developing.

Good post Dave, coming from someone who has followed speedway for a while, the sign of a good team manager is one that when they have to make changes, and there will be changes, makes the right ones at the right time, good one Dave.

What I can't understand is after reading several comments on this thread not many people rate our side and think we're going to finish lowly once more! I just can't understand the reasoning!! Personally if the remaining 2 signings are okay then we have a very good side and should be challenging for the play offs!! Plymouth are going to surprise one or two pessimists here!!!! The promotion I believe have put together a decent looking outfit!!!

If Mark Lemon and Ty Proctor get back to there best, we will have a very good side, because on there day they are has good a rider has the best in the PL, Mark has had a few average seasons, and Ty hasn't been riding enuff meetings, if Lee can get them back to near there best and we are in with a chance.

i,m with you mate i think we got a better team than somerset and everyone tipping them for honours, maybe that will be to our advantage low expectation less pressure, lee will build a good team spirit amongst the lads which he did last season despite everything conspiring against him and i really believe we will be the surprise team this season however time will tell

If the American is as bad as some people say (I have never seen him), Todd will only be at reserve for 8 meetings.

You only have 1.5 heatleaders, Somerset have 3. Plymouth will be midtable.

Totally agree, to say Plymouth are as good as Somerset on the current signings and speculation at who will complete the Plymouth side is in my opinion crazy. Somerset should be top 4, Plymouth will be bottom 4 but that will do me given the last 2 seasons.
