Berwick V Newcastle Pl Saturday 8th September 2012

Recommended Posts

Ok Bandits Newcastles record at Shielfield Park has not been great over the years. If the track has grip Newcastle will do well. Lay a fair track and we will entertain. I am coming up so there is another 10 quid in the bank account. Great move by your promoters to reduce admission I hope it pays off for them

Forecast? Well as usual Newcastle to win 50-40 but a point will do, I am not a greedy person

Although I expect the Diamonds to win as always. I am impressed by the bandits on their own track. All of them belt around what is the fastest track in the league. The circuit allows overtaking on the inside and outside of turn two and passing going into turn three. There is a slingshot outside move from the banking on turn four too which if it was a Newcastle rider doing it it would get a standing ovation from me. I hope Lemo and Robbo go well, we need their points. If so we may just have enough in the other riders to come back down the A1 happy.

I hope the financial gamble taken by Berwicks management pays off

As was evident on Saturday past, Berwick's success or failure might lie in their choice of available guest.

Club website says he will be named today - more likely late tonight, when updates are usually posted - and that will allow us to make better forecasts of the end result

But with good weather promised, the £10 offer continued for another week, the burgers sizzling and a confident glitter of Diamonds coming up the road, I am hopeful of a bumper crowd rolling in to see the meeting.

It is really important we urge our friends (on Tyneside as well as Tweedside) to come out and support the sport on Saturday.

Not been to Shielfield too often this season then? :(

Hopefully its working out well, I'll continue to attend every week if it remains £10...before the promotion made the decision to lower the admission a few weeks ago, I had been finding it hard to motivate myself to hand over £14.50 for the on-track entertainment provided.

Not sure how many times you`ve been in recent weeks but Shielfield has been very much gate and go,with the very odd decent race, shame as when its prepared to allow passing it can give us fans fantastic entertaining meetings.

Newcastle will never have a better chance of a win IMO.

Newcastle scored 39pts in the Tyne/Tweed Trophy, and 43pts in the LC,so there has been improvement.IMO though out visitors this saturday will have to improve further if they are to win, they are capable of that though,as their away wins this season have proved. As has been said much will depend on choice of guest,I hope they wont go with r/r at no1,and Im sure we will find out in an hour or two who our guest is.

Dont think it will be Matej Kus. ;)

Have you kept your eyes closed on previous visits? Its a pretty processional track unless youve got nerves of steel and ride the fence! Very unusual to see any inside passes.

Is it just me or when the track is prepared deep and heavy we ride better or it puts other teams of ?

Back to the Peter Waite book of track prep then ?

would be a good choice but glasgow at plymouth on friday could be a bit of a rush see tungate at edinburgh on friday night would be a good choice if his last appearance at berwick is anything to go by

I think you will find that Ashworth & Complin rode in the Berwick Team in these fixtures. If Barrett is still injured and we have R/R for him and a guest for Ricky is our best chance.A good match and a large crowd are more important though.

Ah well it seems I am gonna watch a series of "who gates wins heats". Now! the Diamonds, with the exception of Robbo, are good gaters, so our riders might like the track even if, I as a supporter will not. I only come to Berwick about twice a season.

I am a fan of Berwicks 4th bend. I remember way back 1998 (I Think) Nicki Pedersen clattering the 4th bend boards and bouncing off to win. Lee Complin was another who has entertained me by attacking that corner.

It will be a shame if the track isn't prepared for good racing. If Berwick and other tracks struggle to retain support maybe it is worth risking home defeats by producing a track for good racing. Stay away fans might like to spend their money knowing that they will see good racing.

As always I say I hope Newcastle entertain and yes we will come away with a 50-40 win. What? snore me dreaming again!!!
