Dudley Heathens V Isle Of Wight Islanders 04.09.12 N L

Recommended Posts

So the last league meeting rolls around for the Heathens, and all-too-soon. It brings with it the opportunity to top the pre-POs table for the second time in the three years since joining the league. Take the points tonight and there's nothing Mildenhall can do to catch us, so little if any motivational speech should be needed ahead of tonight's meeting. Obviously we are massive favourites to record another straight forward home win, but after some of the results I saw last season I will take nothing for granted. The boys have to turn it on every time they go out on track, and cannot approach the meeting with a 'turn up and we will win' attitude. Ashley Birks has been booked as a guest for Adam Roynon so it's clear the management team are also of the opinion that we have to respect IOW and approach the meeting in a professional manner, and make sure there are not silly slip ups at the last.

The boys were flying last week before the rain off. The only concern has been James' form as it seems to be slipping. He's put his average up a touch so he's doing his job, but his confidence seems to on a downer for some reason. He can still make some lightening starts but doesn't seem fully committed to the corners. Ahead of the POs and KOC Final I'd like to see him post a better score and start riding full of confidence. He still has such an important roll to play. I'd like to see Darryl keep the ball rolling after his first maximum last week, and Dan scoring big and keeping his confidence up will be very important come the big meetings too.

A big welcome back to Dan Stoneman tonight. He's very popular with the Heathens faithful and will either get one of the biggest cheers or the panto boos. Either way Dan will love it. Back in June Dan topped scored for the Islanders (incl bonus points) with paid 9. Here's to another good pay day for him, as long he doesn't inspire his team mates too much.

Is anyone making the long trip up? Can any IOW fans give us the low down on how the boys are riding of late?

no surprise in birks being guest for the big money win at all costs no home dudley

BB, We may have NO Home, but we certainly have more style than YOU pal, any money we may have is cuz the supporters turn out to watch, we dont have such a big catchment area as most Teams but we support our Team.

NEG means he cant be used as a National League Guest in the Premier League

Not how it appears to read - Taken from the NL Declaration Sheet on the BSPA website:

NEG

Not Eligible to Guest as has achieved 4.00 or above in PL

(S.R. 18.2.2 g) A NL Guest (any Rider eligible for a NL Team)

but who has never achieved an actual PL CMA of 4.00 or above

You should be a spin doctor in politics ! Looks like your worries were unfounded as the heathens edged past their play off rivals without their number 1.No doubt the Heathens posse lapped it up as usual. Edited by New Science

It does indeed refer to the PL, no problems with guesting in the NL providing they are replacing a rider with a higher average.

I would just like to say that I hope the man who suffered a fall pre-meeting injuring his head, is doing ok !!

Furthermore I would like to add that I was very impressed by the visitng Paul Starke this evening, he was very sharp from the tapes and impressive when taking the lead, he was unfortunate to suffer problems when he was on a tactical ride for double points also, and his race with Tom Perry prvided first class entertainment for the crowd.

Also an appreciative mention to Isle Of Wight fans travelling to support their team, and I hope they had a safe journey back

hector austin i will not be defending my post as what is moronic is that you cannot see it was said in jest class? is the fact that you have used it to attack heathen fans as we all love danny and he happens to actually be one of my best mates style ? is what the heathens have this year may i suggest you get your full frontal labotomy humor extraction reversed and like everyone else except we are top of league we have got there fare and square not at all cost as our team is the same from day one and not chopped and changed like lots we might not win league but we have best fan base as like danny ride for us heathen for ever best management maybe no home but rather be homeless and great than with a track and bitter so get over yourselves rest of league love us hate us we dont care we are heathens and proud of it :cheers:

Yet again, some of the posters on here manage to get just about everything wrong. From Birks guest appearance being questioned as illegal, through to even no updates and quoting that ther aren't any supporters capable of texting. Well on that score I should learn to read if I were you son, they were there for everyone to see. They are listed under the National league, and then If you are familiar with the alphabet, look under D for Dudley.
