MK Knights race into the Grand Final

MK “Alpine Cooling” Knights secured an MDL Grand Final spot with a 26-10 victory over a depleted Long Eaton Invaders who drafted in team manager Steve Cook to make his MDL debut.

With Ollie Greenwood on NL duty for parent club Scunthorpe, the Knights brought in namesake Dan Greenwood to join regulars Conor Dwyer, Adam Sheppard & Shaun Tedham.

Heat 1 suggested that the meeting could be a tight one, Connor Coles leading Dan Greenwood out of the tapes before Greenwood drove up the inside and secure the 1st of his 3 race wins.

Consecutive 5-1’s in the next 3 heats & a 4-2 in heat 5 secured the match win and lifted the Knights 5pts clear at the top of the table with 2 matches remaining.

With Grand Final qualification secured for the Knights, it remains to be seen who out of Long Eaton, Mercia Vikings or Belle Vue Colts can grab the remaining spot in the end of season showpiece which will be a 2-legged, home & away final run over the normal 6-heat MDL format

Next up for the Knights is their last regular season “home” fixture against Sheffield Tiger Cubs @ Rye House Stadium on Sat 8th Sept following Rye House vs Redcar in the Premier League which starts @ 7:00pm
