Maybe - just maybe - his squad proposal might have kept Sky a bit more interested?!!

(Apologies for this on the KL thread!)

I don't think we have to look very far as to who is to blame for Sky lack of interest. Here we have the BIGGEST leg up the sport has ever known, the best advertising for our sport ever, and we as a body continued to put crap matches on show, when we should have taken full control of meetings, track preparation, equal competing sides. we could have done so much better...... We want to see close matches, we want to see derby matches, we want to see racing on well prepared tracks. You don't have to be a magician to know which matches are going to be feisty or not. Then not only would Sky wanted to continue, but also we could have more supporters wanting to come and watch for real. Instead of which, we carry on regardless.

At least he has some big ideas, unlike some of his small-minded colleagues, who continue to push the top level of the sport down to its lowest common denominator!!

You could well be right, but his ideas very rarely appear to benefit the league as a whole. I'm sure a squad system would suit Poole down to the ground with all their assets but I imagine it'd make the league even more lopsided than it is already.

Sharing the number ones around in 2011 worked well IMO but it was no suprise that it disappeared as soon as Ward's average went North of 8..........

can anyone really blame Poole for wanting to keep Holder/ Ward together why drag Poole down to some other clubs leavel why not drag some other clubs up ?

Fair point about dragging clubs up (not that I think it would work as the sport is skint) but why get rid of a rule if it worked well?

I'm sure Coventry would have liked to keep the seven who won the title for the next year (I'm pretty sure it would have fitted) but they had to release Harris or KK for the good of the league as a whole.

I dont blame Poole at all for keeping Holder and Ward, they are the head and shoulders above anyone else in the elite lge, and the best top two since Gollob and Rickardsson at Ipswich in 1998.

Of course there is, with no independant governance its dog eat dog. But Matty boy is the one who goes squealing to the media just before the AGM with all his big ideas.

Dodgy avtar Baggy...especially after Saturday's result....or are you 'shaming' him? ;)

I don't blame Poole either for wanting to keep Ward & Holder together, even though my team Belle Vue will struggle to find anything resembling a number 1. They are box office in the current EL, as the massive queues at our fixture with Poole last season showed. I look forward to seeing them twice at Kirky Lane later this year, though I guess I'm looking forward to it more than they are!

Back on topic, looks a real solid King's Lynn side this year, top 3 finish a minimum requirement I'd have thought. Look forward to visiting Saddlebow Road, will have a few quid on a Rory Schlein max that night!

Guests have always been the norm in our dangerous sport, has never put me off, I'm betting you're just one of those people who have fallen out of love with speedway after many years of support and this is just one of the excuses you put forward?? Although like most, you can't let it go completely or you wouldn't be on here ;)

I think Speedway needs a massive reality check. Don't like comparing it with other sports but just imagine when Manchester United's fixture list is announced and they say Rooney will be missing the following matches because he will have to play for Huddersfield on those days. Or if Norwich will be without one of their key players because he has to play for Barnsley. An Elite league should be what it says it is. The name currently means nothing. I know guests have always played a part in Speedway but last season it appeared to be week after week after week. When I spend my hard-earned on petrol, entrance, food, etc, I want to know than I am going to see, more often than not, my team's advertised 1 - 7. Having first experienced the sport at the Firs in the early 60's, it is difficult to ignore it completely!

I dont see it that way. The first week is a celebration of TT's time with The Stars, man and boy. After that its all focussed on the season ahead and the Stars Challenge to try and nick one of those play-off places. Plenty to look forward to in the build up toward the new season.

So it seems we've sold a promising young prospect Simon Nielsen to Leicester.

1, I didn't even know we owned him

2, 2 years time should be ready for an EL reserve

3, Are we convinced the asset system is coming to an end so selling riders asap

4, Speedway at the NA is coming to an end (very much doubt with more stadium improvements)

It's a sale I personally don't understand!!!!!

Maybe your promotion has decided to raise some funds in order to make NKI an asset at some stage, he does seem very happy at Lynn. Im not aware any promoters have said they want the asset system scrapped.

Or perhaps, like Graversen and Oliver before him, the Lynn promotion don't think Nielsen will make the EL grade and were happy to sell to Leicester? And perhaps if he ever is good enough there is a buy back agreement.

Then again with no real connection to Kings Lynn, maybe the rider was keen to put down some roots and the Leicester wanted to show thier committment to the rider.

Who was that youngster with a Danish name that was a regular during the interval in our PL days? Was it not him?
