King's Lynn Stars 2013

Recommended Posts

if u owned peterborough speedway and had upwards of 60000 pounds of talent that had no interest in riding for you wouldnt u try and recoup the money for them as i know i would.

With team-building equalisation each year & rules like "only two top twenty riders" it's almost inevitabloe that no club can retain all of its assets & that some will have to be loaned or sold.

Boro have been heavy-handed this year in dictating "sold" rather than "loaned" & insisting only that KL buy NKI seems justified.

I think it's more the potential. NKI has stepped up a notch over the last couple of seasons, so you have a reliable and solid scorer at the top end. The genial Korneliussen has added some consistency to his game and Klindt/Stead are both capable of upping their scores. But, equally, there are question marks of form/fitness over one or two of the line-up and that, in part, is what makes it such a fascinating line-up -- you're never quite sure what you are going to get. Should be an exciting team to watch, though, and one that could really kick on if it gets a bit of momentum going. When I try to work out who will finish where, I invariably bump Lynn up two places to reflect Rob Lyon's management and then drop them two back for the fair and excellent track.

I take your point, but perhaps a more pertinent question would be why "£60,000 of talent" apparently has no interest in riding for the club.

Perhaps we should be asking why Lynn are so dead against buying him?

Maybe because teams who are only loaning riders are in a better position to offer a better package to the riders.

Good answers! But with the economy on its backside and the whole asset system in its current state of flux, it's not surprising that teams are reluctant to shell out.

has it also got something to do with the uncertainty of Sky renewing there contract for 2014 if they don't renew assets will be worthless

The big question mark in this team for me is Kozza a year out of racing is a long time he didn't pull any trees up in the Aussie Championship against lesser oppersition than he will face in the EL .

No suprise to me that Kozza and Adam Shields both struggled in the Oz finals, as you say a year out is a long time.

Not too concerned about his scores Down Under, the most important thing was him getting laps under his belt. Once he gets into the swing of things with Berwick I'm sure the scores for Lynn will start to flow, he has a lot to offer IMO.

It was good of Rik Frost to play the helpful neighbour and let King's Lynn borrow NKI. Otherwise my sources say they were considering signing Kevin Wolbert as Stars No.1

Dakota North Racing??? I think it is our old 'friendly' Boro school boy with another new identity. He certainly has some remarkable sources but does not have the courage to name them

Even NKI?! After years of insisting he was nothing more than a 7/8 pointer? :D

I didn't see him ride much but his performances in the cup for Poole were amazing and if he continued that form he would end up with a ten point average! so a nine point average should be easily achievable.

I must be being dim (again) but even allowing for an 8% reduction for Kozza, I make the Stars team add up to over 42.5. Where am I going wrong?!!

I believe the reduction is now 10%.

So one wonders why the 2 clubs concerned Lynn & Swindon have purchased Schlein & Morris respectively over the winter.

Lynn were ordered to buy Schlein by the BSPA, were they not? As to Morris, who was a Glasgow asset, presumably Swindon saw sufficient medium to long-term value in him as a promising teenager to want him in their ranks. Obviously there's an element of gamble there, with the current assets debate. But really you need to be asking Swindon about their decision.

NKI on asset system:

King's Lynn Stars number one Niels-Kristian Iversen has called for a change to speedway's asset system.

The 30-year-old has been cleared by the sport's governing body to join the Stars on loan, despite protestations by parent club Peterborough Panthers.

"At the end of the day everybody rides where they want to ride," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"It's down to the regulations and I think they will have to look into it in the future."

Iversen has spent the last two seasons on loan at the Norfolk Arena, but the Panthers were refusing to allow the Dane a third spell because of what they perceived as an illegal approach from their Elite League rivals.

But the British Speedway Promoters' Association have enabled Iversen to make the temporary move, a decision the Panthers launched a failed appeal against.

"It shouldn't be that much of a problem," said Iversen. "It's like a storm in a glass of water. It creates so many problems.

"It's good to have everything under control. It's been taking some time with the problems with Peterborough.

"It's always annoying when things have to drag out like that but it's nice to have it done."

Just for anyone with eyes as bad as mine. ;)
