MK Knights 22 – Scunthorpe Stags 14 ---AMENDED TO 22-9

MK “Alpine Cooling” Knights continue to press for an MDL Grand Final place with their 2nd win in 4 days against a spirited Scunthorpe Stags side.

Although run at Owlerton Stadium, this was officially a home fixture for the Knights.

No.1 Ollie Greenwood returned to the side after missing out on the 17-19 win at Belle Vue earlier in the week to team up with Conor Dwyer & Shaun Tedham who both scored 6pts at Kirkmanshulme Rd and Adam Sheppard, who also missed out on the trip to Manchester!

Heat 1 saw the Stags take a 4-2 lead with Danny Phillips taking Conor Dwyer on the final turn of lap 4 after Dwyer looked to have the heat win in his pocket! Ollie Greenwood raced to an easy heat 2 win, shared 3-3 and then Dwyer raced clear from the start in heat 3 with Shaun Tedham in 3rd to bring the scores level with a 4-2

Greenwood & Sheppard put the home side in front for the first time in the next heat with another 4-2

Heat 5 clinched the meeting for the Knights, Dwyer racing clear of Connor Coles with Sheppard holding David Holt at the back Then coming out of turn 2 on the final lap, Coles appeared to lose power, allowing Sheppard thru into 2nd, before picking up speed again! As they entered the 3rd turn, Sheppard held his nerve with Holt trying to take him on the inside & Coles on the outside! A 5-1 heat advantage for the Knights

With victory secured, heat 6 produced another thrilling finish! Greenwood raced clear from the start while Tedham lifted at the gate and dropped to 4th. As he chased Martin Wrathall into lap 3, Wrathall locked up with Tedham close behind who shut-off to avoid a collision! Having lost momentum, Shaun tried one last time on lap 4 and finally passed Wrathall on the line to clinch a 4-2 heat advantage and a 22-14 meeting result!
