Gazc
Did the Berwick promotion miss a trick yesterday? A couple of riders on bikes, not racing or doing full laps for obvious reasons. But a few starts, a bit of noise and THE speedway smell might have been a good bit of PR, especially with the TV cameras there. After the drivel we served up yesterday the speedway would have been a welcome relief

At least the Irish presenter lad said he was a Speedway fan and mentioned Berwick Bandits and Glasgow Tigers and Speedway got two or three other mentions. Bandit59
Can Berwick re declare their team if they sign someone is there a time limit on it Nicki Barrett wont have enough matches to ride in to become an asset . How many points would be available if Ricky and Nicki were replaced

How many points would be available if Ricky and Nicki were replaced Why would you want Nicki replaced? He has looked fine to me, and seems to have fitted into the Shielfield scene pretty well. He won't become an asset this year (although his average will change in October) but to want him replaced (by whom?) seems a bit excessive.
wjm
Apparently Ricky wants to make the PLRC, given the service he has given Berwick this year guests until he is fit is worth the effort (more so if Nick Morris can be used ) ….might even play into Rickys thoughts when it comes to deciding where he wants to ride next year… Loyalty works both ways and it worked with Lee. Backless
To be honest, loyalty doesn't come into it - who are you going to bring in to replace Barrett & the space reserved for Ashworth, that would improve Berwick's position for either 2012 or 2013? Ashworth seems more than happy to want to return & Barrett, while not an asset looks tasty enough to persue. If he attains a teambuilding average then he's got to be a better bet than the 5 point totally unproven route Berwick have gone down of late. Barrett and Dyer look 2 riders who would be ideal for Team Building next seaso on what we have seen of them so far IMO
Robinh88
Be intresting to see who leads the line for Berwick next year Love to see David Ricky, Nicki, Robin, I'd assume Lee will skipper the side. So, do we go for 2 competitive reserves and a middle order man at 5 or do we go with two 3 pointers and Super Seb?

Always your No1 first, then the 2 strongest reserves you can find, fit 4 into the team with the points available to you afterwards. Alternatively, go for a very top heavy 5 and carry 2 reserves. crescent girl
Aw, c'mon lads! Let's get 2012 done before we start the "Berwick 2013" thread (which will still attract at least 1,000 posts by Christmas). In addition to scoring ability (proven and potential) it is necessary to consider who are assets of other promotions, who are on Berwick's retained list. To be discussed. When the season's over, and we've nowt else to do!

How many points would be available if Ricky and Nicki were replaced It was a point I made a few days ago,if the rules remains that its 6 home six away for a rider to become an asset then Barrett will not be a Berwick asset come the end of the season as he would be one home meeting short.Whether is would get a true average,or still be saddled with a 7pts assessed on I would know, though giving that Edberg rode in the last few meetings that saw him on a true average Id guess Barrett will start next yrar on a 7. Dont see the point in re-declaring the team at this late stage,as long as we dont get more injuries of course.
crescent girl
Sigh. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. To get an AVERAGE you need to contest 4 home, 4 away league matches To become an ASSET you need to contest 6 home, 6 away league matches I'll just add that changes to your 1-7 cannot be made after September 12th, unless it is to reintroduce an injured rider while dumping his direct "injury replacement". Also (the "Paul Bentley rule") if a rider is in your final 1-7 at the end of a season, but not included in your opening 1-7 the following season, you can't later bring him back in!.
