Wolverhampton 2013

Recommended Posts

If the Wolves do sign somebody then it could all change but if not they will still be a tough nut to crack.Whoever goes there if it was the first leg ? if not on there game could end up having a large deficit to claw back.Monmore is a hard track to master a bit of a homer but credit where it is due they have had an outstanding season which in all honestly LOOKED an average line up at the start of the season.

I know where you are coming from Steve.

However last night they weren't out of form, they beat a very good Birmingham team.

The play-offs aren't in August either, they're in September.

No replacement for Ty was going to cover what he was scoring to be honest.

I'd rather have the right signing later than the wrong one early. Time will tell if and when that happens. If they DON'T replace him, then I agree with all the comments. Let's wait and see.

We are singing from the same hymn sheet then.

The RIGHT replacement is key, and not just a signing for the sake of it. But that right signing is needed.

As for the play offs, of course they start next month but you need to be in form leading up to them, not the week they start.

Last night was great result wise, the facts remain we have been indifferent for weeks now.

So, Wolves have 5.78 to replace Ty Proctor with, so obviously any rider must come in on or below that figure.

As we're hearing a lot of bleating about how badly RR is doing for Wolves, I figured, let's check out the reality of this.

RR at home is averaging 5.86

Away it is averaging 5.82

Overall 5.84.

So there is the crux, any rider brought in needs to be at the very least matching that, more ideally beating it. Would someone totally new, thrown in at No 2 do that? Maybe.. maybe not. We've seen Michelsen come in at Eastbourne and have a couple of good meetings but also a shocker at Lakeside (potential play off opponents).

It would be safer to look towards established riders, like Nermark and Ljung. Yet they have averages of below 5.78 for a reason.. that's their level in the EL. Yes, they can have good meetings, but they'll also be awful in others.

The simple reality is we are never going to be able to replace the scoring Proctor was providing at the start of the season. He was riding to an 8.5pt average, which is why we were so dominant. RR has simply been producing what Proctor would have been EXPECTED to produce. Given the injuries also suffered by Tai and Freddie, we've still done well to stay on contention.

I remain confident that come the play-offs the team is capable of stepping up a gear and giving anyone a run for their money.

Nermark has a low average due to injuries and riding at #5. He was averaging near 7 before that

Ljung has a low average as it was taken from less meetings before the 28 rolling match averges. A rider that has made GP semi finals is better than 5.61 in my opinion.

I expect it won't be just one change before the play offs, I expect Baby Lindgren to be gone too..

Vey much doubt it and the only real options are Nicolai or Pontus doubling up and can' see either being much betteror committed to the team as Ludvig is having scored well in all home meetings bar last night.

Hynek Stichauer was a fans favourite and back in Britain now but there is no way he is a replacement for Ty

Not disputing this too much TNT. I think both would be a tad better than RR.. but not that much. Certainly nowhere near the level that Proctor was at before his injury.

Just wonder if the R/R facility for Ty runs out at the end of August,or if Adams is playing it canny and waiting for the cut off date of 19th September and hope to get a better rider in on loan, from another club who is no longer in the play-offs.

Ty has been side-lined now since the 22nd May,thought the facility should have ended long ago.

There is no time limit on a facility for an injured rider unless they're assessed.

You cannot bring in another rider after the 28th August (effective 3 days later). So any new signing has to be made in the next 2 weeks.

Any idea when the Wolves vs P'boro match will be scheduled for?

Wolves have a free September apart from the 16th along with the Panthers. Both clubs need to get this in before the deadline as Wolves want to finish top to pick their opponents and P'boro want to keep their play-off hopes alive.

Wolves also have a trip to Belle Vue to arrange but I think before this match gets played it will be meaningless as Wolves are not expecting to finish top as we have just one home meeting left compared to Swindon and Birmingham both having three left while Peterborough have made the charge too late and Wednesday will put them 9 poins behind Lakeside with only 5 matches left.

Yes we have a pretty free start to September, but Belle Vue have both Mondays fixed up, so maybe a double header when they entetain Poole on the 9th ...... but flights to Sweden may make this unlikely ?

As for Peterborough, they are v Belle Vue on the 2nd then pretty quiet. So it wll depend on the availability of riders with oter countries having play offs, the European meetings and the GP's making it difficult to arrange a date when Wolves can come and spak their behinds as the Panthers will go in slow mde knowing they are already out ;)

It sums up what a joke the sport has become in this country when Wolves have no official home fixtures after 26 August.

Something has to be done to make the league bigger with more variety and more fixtures on a regular basis.

If this means some of the top riders being left out so be it.
