Clegg and Kirby impress

MIDLAND DEVELOPMENTLEAGUE

SCUNTHORPE STAGS 16 BELLE VUE COLTS 20

On Friday night theScunthorpe Stags side lost their Midland Developmentleague encounter with the Belle Vue Colts 16-20. The Stags were reducedto three riders before the meeting had even started with the non-show of onerider but Adam Kirby led the side admirably scoring ten points and only beingdefeated by the Saints’ Max Clegg who racked up a nine point maximum forthe Colts.

After the meeting Stags’ TeamManager Richard Hollingsworth said “It is one of the nuances of the MDLthat a Scunthorpe rider has to ride foranother club in this league. However, I do understand it. I’ve been trying to give three Saints riders outings in the second halfrecently and had to sacrifice race points to get two of them in the sameside. Tonight none of the three were available but Belle Vue have beenusing Max all season so it’s only fair they are allowed to continue doingso.

“The important thing is thathe is getting laps when he wants them. He was outstanding tonight and hisbest two times were better than the last four races in the PremierLeague. It augers well for the Saints run of home meetings whilst it isgreat to see young riders like Adam Kirby, Tom Woolley, David Holt and MichaelNeale also improving. It doesn’t matter to me which side they wereon so long as the kids are getting some racing”.

TheStags remaining meetings are:
