Rye House V Workington 13/8/12

Well done to ALL the lads tonight never expected to come away with anything so 1 point is a great bonus. Onwards and upwards lets get up to Sheffield on Thursday and hopefully come away with yet another point (or 2), delighted

Must admit I really enjoyed tonight.

Lanham - A totally predictable total, its not fair to expect him to be an out and out No 1.

Mellgren - Anther very solid night for the man whom nobody seemed to want this year, we got lucky.

Hawkins - Sad to see a rider who clearly is trying so hard but can not seem to breakthough, its clear a new start is needed.

"The Ghost" - Totally deserved his total, for a home debut and riding at 5 he just gave expectation for next season a big lift.

Garrity - saw this coming a few weeks ago, paid 46 in the last three meetings whilst recovering from injury, who said the England production line was bare.

Bunyan - Didnt happen tonight.

Very very impressed with Roynon (always liked him when he was Rye), Bach is clearly getting fitter and I suspect he might have a big finish to the season, Aeario got better as the night wore on and Morris showed why I do not understand why promoters go for the Mudgways and Kiesaks, give these youngsters a chance.

MOM Roynon and Garrity

Really enjoyed my first visit to Rye tonight, with a well prepared track and good stadium facilities you can't ask for much more.

Feared the worst after heat 2 and again after heat 11 when the tactical ride failed to produce but thought we deserved a point in the end. Really impressed with Ashley and Tero tonight, but Jason Garrity was amazing! Looked quick, confident and throughly earned his 16 point haul.

Glad to see such words of praise from firestone1 and refreshing to hear them. Indeed tonight's meeting was an absolute cracker. Certainly the best meeting I've seen anywhere this season and one of the best i can recall at RH for many a moon.

Monday night crowd held up well too. :approve:

The Comets did well after a bad start and in truth they certainly could've won this match. Got to be highly unusual in a side which saw, by the end, FOUR riders (out of six) scoring paid nine or higher yet when the T/R came it went to a man who totalled just one point at the meeting's end. The reason really was an accident of timing and very much affected by the new rule about no T/R from heat 12 on... Hindsight's a great thing and in truth Lawson looked okay in patches and at first lead his T/R race but seemed his machine was very down on power.

Roynon & Garrity were both superb - Garrity at RH is now firmly in the bracket of a rider it's literally worth the admission alone to see..! And yes, I DID pay to get in!!!!

A milestone meeting for me as a spectator, as it marked the 40th. anniversary of my first Speedway meeting (at Canterbury in '72) and with a full second half this was like a throwback to those days. With a junior match and appearances from some tasty new young Aussies this was simply excellent entertainment and superb v-f-m. Well done to all at RH for putting on such good value Speedway this season.. Really showing what can be done!

Oh and it's purely selfish on my part coz I'd go every meeting IF it was a week night track, but more Monday night meetings PLEASE!

Sounds good, will a DVD be available? We seen Jason at Norhside a year or two ago. He didn't win the meeting but looked like a speedway rider, really comfortable on his bike, just a bit too daring maybe which caused him too come off. His was the name we remembered and we were disappointed that he was injured when Rye came to DP. Hopefully he'll have an injury free run and keep improving.

Good win for the Rockets with a depleted side. Comets are understandably happy with a point, but should really have been looking for more. They'll never have a better chance of a win at Hoddesdon, but blew it thanks to a very poor night for Lawson.

Very happy with our new signing Kasper, apart from his poor gating he looks the real deal. Jason G had a terrific night, following on from Leicester; no boos tonight!

Another poor return from Ritchie, disappointing.

Good to see Adam Roynon looking so quick. Still think he needs to be riding in the National Leage to gain confidence? Do me a favour!

Like CityRebel I thought the track was left far too dry, I'm sure the weather forecast has a lot to do with it, but thankfully very little dust and the forecast rain didn't materialise thankfully.

Not the best meeting we've had at Rye this year, but nowhere near the worst.

We have the basis of a very good side next year. I'd keep 4 of this line up and ditch the rest.

Easily the best meeting of the season of the season by far. Just can't understands the comments regarding the track and it's dryness. Weather forecast was awful, black clouds in the sky. Watering did take place during the meeting and there was no dust and the racing was good so why moan? I'm sure Mr Silver has enough experience of track prep.Five of last nights side will be in the team next year without a doubt. Lanham,Mellgren,Lykke, with Bunyan and Garritty at reserve the basis of a very good team. I say Lanham as its quite clear from his body language that Rye is the place he wants to be

Really enjoyable meeting ..Since switching to GMs Jason Garrittys form has rocketed will soon be changing team places with Hawkins who consistantly disapoint,s ,Time for Len to look else where for next season....New boy Kasper looks a real prospect will use this season to get used to different tracks and improve his gating ..Very good signing Len...Bunyan too has a problem with gating ...is consistent both home and away with his points , but i dont think the Rye track suits him ..We missed Charlie s big points but that was somewhat cancelled out by a below par performance from their No 1 Richard Lawson who either has a very slow bike or has lost confidence..Im sure its a temporary blip as hes a good rider... I thought the track surface was excellent tonight The new shale is a big improvement on the old fine dust,,,and with the dodgy rain forecast i think Len got it dead right tonight....

Funny enough i was at that one too - that also was a good meeting.

Good entertainment at RH this year!

Indeed, been some good speedway. Shame that there aren't more there each week to see it.

Surely not Lanham at number 1?

So according to some on here, next year we have a team which is going to be;

1. Neath or Gjedde

2. Lykke

3. Mellgren

4. R/R (Bowen)

5. Lanham

6. Bunyan

7. Garrity

If as I suspect Len will save a place for Luke when he is ready to return that leaves just the No. 1 spot to fill.

As Len has already had his rush of blood to the head by signing Lykke recently I would think he will go back to the old faithfuls and have Neath if fit at No. 1 or if not fit then try and keep Gjedde for another year.

Now I have spoilt everybodies fun over the close season by telling you all of next years team already

yessssss chuffed with tonights result 1 point from Rye is certainly like a win, or it feels like one.

Well done boys everyone plus get behind Richie Lawson lets support the lad through this rough patch. bring on Sheffield!!

The mighty Comets :-)

Chuffed to bits with a point tbh, at one point we were 10 down I thought we were finished but no the lads dug deep and brought the point home , well done. Richard had an awful night and no one will be hurting more than him so last the thing he needs is the fans turning on him too, he is going through a real rough patch but hell alot of riders go through them and we need to get behind him and support him through it, he will come good again chin up Richard MOST of the fans are right behind you :approve:

lawson will find better form im sure unless theres something wrong behind the sceen were not seeing thats afecting him

Please don't give the rumour mill a reason to get grinding again, them lot on here will be jumping in and twisting things and fingers will be pointing at Worky management , I was talking with Richard after Saturdays meeting and he is just struggling at the minute, beating himself up about not knowing what he's doing wrong , he's trying everything but just not happening at the minute, don't think anyone else is involved

Garrity Mellgren and Lykke must be nailed on. Be good if nelson could join them. I think Lanham will be with us too. I would have thought that would leave enough points for a powerful spearhead.

Good meeting last night. Roynon looks back to his best. What a shame he has had all of those injuries. Nice touch for him to do an extra lap and clap the Rye fans. He Auty and Lanham will always be welcome guests at Rye.

Thought the crowd did nt look far off a sarurday night crowd.

Lawson just looked down on power rather than confidence. On his tactical ride he flew from the gate but our boys were passed him very quickly.

I've no more idea about the state of Neathy's health than you, but my gut reaction, speaking to people who've experienced similar injuries, is that he'll take a lot longer to recover. Even if he makes a full recovery he may decide enoughs enough.

Luke's case is different. He.would want to be back on a bike as soon as possible. I read somewhere that he's targeting the middle of next year. Can we really afford to use rider replacement for half the season?
