Bryn
The Southern Track Riders Association stage their latest meeting at King's Lynn tomorrow (Sunday August 12) with the action commencing at Noon. Why not come along and enjoy the action - free admission of course. DO, at some stage, pop up and see me in the ref's box and witness some action from there? I'll pop up and give you a pat on the head Bryn, but won't be wearing my hearing aid, so I'll be able to save your lungs some work....how's your sign language?? Is Goldberg going to be there, or is he still competing in the athletics at the Olympic Games? Seriously though, it's always a fun few hours out for real speedway fans and something that as you say, is free. Yep a good weekend what with the Young Stars v Mildenhall tonight followed by the STR Meeting tomorrow lunch-time, and we'll stil be home in time to see Goldberg bopping away to the Spice Girls at the Closing Ceremony. Mimmo
Just a reminder to local speedway fans that their is a FREE meeting at the Norfolk Arena this lunch time (12.00pm) as the Southern Track Riders hold another of their meetings. These meetings often contain riders such as Brendan Johnson, Andy Mountain, Robert Hollingworth, Lewis Rose and so on and so forth, and on top of that, are producing riders that have now progressed to the Anglia Junior and Midland Development leagues, so it's a more than worthy cause of competition. If you have a couple of hours or so to spare, do pop along, because as I say, it's not going to cost you a penny. The usual food outlets will be open, so you won't go hungry or thirsty either. Hope to see you at lunch time, and bring your sun cream.
Mimmo
Phew, two additional riders included in the Open Class made chaos of trying to adjust the programme, but we got there in the end. What we witnessed was a meeting with lots of passing and at times neck to neck racing, and these Southern Track Riders certainly know how to put on a show. With it being such a hot afternoon, dust started to rise quite early on, but trackman Mick Daw did a great job in keeping the situation under control, which was a blessing for both the riders and the supporters. The results were as follows: - YOUTH 125cc CLASS Macauley Leek (3-3-3-3-3) = 15 YOUTH 250cc CLASS Lewis Whitmore (3-3-3-3-3) = 15 Mitchell Beckett (2-2-2-2-2) = 10 NOVICE CLASS Neal Richmond (2-F-2-3-2) = 9 Shaun Smith (R-2-3-F-3) = 8 Dave Smith (3-3-1-1-FN) = 8 Rich Pearce (F-R-0-2-FD) = 2 INTERMEDIATE CLASS Ricky Davison (3-3-3-3) = 12 John Markham (1-3-2-3) = 9 Mick Skinner (3-2-3-F) = 8 Rod Woodhouse (2-2-3-1) = 8 Andrew Leech (3-0-2-2) = 7 Tom Rowlett (2-1-2-2) = 7 Paul Robinson (0-3-F-2) = 5 Sean Greenfield (0-1-0-3) = 4 Nathan Clare (2-0-1-F) = 3 Dave Patten (0-2-1-F) = 3 Sid Higgins (1-1-1-R) = 3 Ian Leverington (1-0-N-N) = 1 C Final: 1st Sid Higgins 2nd Dave Patten B Final: 1st Tom Rowlett 2nd Sean Greenfield 3rd Paul Robinson 4th Nathan Clare - Fell A Final: 1st Ricky Davison 2nd Andrew Leech 3rd Rod Woodhouse 4th Mick Skinner - EF OPEN CLASS Brendan Johnson (3-3-3-3) = 12 Rob Hollingworth (1-3-2-3) = 9 Andy Mountain (1-R-3-2) = 6 Nick Laurence (0-2-2-2) = 6 James Cockle (3-1-N-N) = 4 Sean Mason (2-R-1-N) = 3 Jamie Moohan (0-2-1-N) = 3 Adam Kirby (2-F-0-1) = 3 B Final: 1st Adam Kirby A Final: 1st Andy Mountain 2nd Brendan Johnson 3rd Rob Hollingworth 4th Nick Laurence If you happen to be on holiday at the Isle of Sheppy over the August Bank Holiday, then there is a meeting at Sittingbourne on the 26th with a midday start. Next STR meeting at the Norfolk Arena is on Sunday 2nd September at midday, which leaves enough time to get to Mildenhall afterwards to see their league match against the Young Stars.
