To be honest, and I say this with all respect, I am not surprised that you didn't understand our frustrations if you were unaware of this. Perhaps now, you can understand a little more why we are agitated. Anyway, let's hope we have a good match with some great racing, and all riders staying safe. By the way, looking forward to seeing one of my favourite GB youngsters Joe Jacobs. Top bloke!

That nothing to do with the BSPA having the power to make the call,as i can see, they, like you and many others are saying it should start at 3,which it isnt going to so the BSPA for sure dont have the power to tell the home club what time a meeting should start

Plus this is not from the BSPA,its a press relaease Dudley,

What??? They obviously do have the power to make the call to state the meeting should start at 3 because that's exactly what they did after hearing the evidence from all concerned. As far as this being on the Dudley website, do you really think that Dudley or any club for that matter, would make such a statement if it weren't true? Could you imagine the repercussions if it was untrue? Which leads me to ask the question for one last and final time. Dudley made the objection, the BSPA made a ruling. Why was it that only after all this sorry mess had unfolded did Mildenhall see fit to announce there sta dim wasn't available till 4.30. Don't you think for one minute that if it were a legitimate reason, they would made this known at the onset?

So why isnt it starting at 3 then.............simples,the BSPA DIDNT MAKE A RULING,as i dont think they can,the said, just like you, that it should start at 3,doesnt mean it will or that they will be made to

When Dudley came to Scunny last year i recall we didnt have Richie or Irving i think it was,did you want start time moving then,no,The mighty saints i dont think were ever at full strenght yet still won the league[just]!,----thanks to play offs

where did you get THAT quote from? It quite clearly says (and I quote) that they (Mildenhall) MUST start at 3.00. Nowhere in the statement have I read the word "should".

As a neutral in the argument it would seem if you are fielding ultra strong National league teams with doubleling up premier and elite league riders then its inevitable you are going to be without them in a number of meetings..Mildenhall have every right to run their meetings at their normal start times,, that it does not suit the opposition is not their problem.

Sure. The issue is whether agreement was reached on a 3pm start time before a change of heart (and, to a certain extent, why). Leicester clearly think so. Dudley clearly think so. The BSPA clearly think so (or why would they rule for 3pm?). I hope Villiers210 isn't holding his breath waiting for an answer to his question or he might be in a bad way come Tuesday!

Edit: Oh, and to be fair to Mildenhall, they estimated a 15 per cent reduction in crowd figure for the previous week's different start time so that may be a big factor.

Interesting,i didnt realise the BSPA had that kind of power to be honest, where does it say they did this??

They don't.

Its sod all to do with them what time a meeting is run.

So I take it, after 2 days of constantly asking, that nobody has the answer to my question. That's interesting. Not surprising but interesting.

I suspect no-one actually knows, that's why they haven't responded.

If track preparation time is the ruling factor there's a simple answer. -

- bring the track staff in 90mins. earlier !

( No additional labour cost incurred.)

Quite :approve:

I have helped prepare the stadium for racing many times (most often with Robert Huggins on the tractor, one of the best track curators in the business) and there's absolutely no doubt that it could be ready by 3pm.

I doubt if that is a factor at all. In any other week, maybe, but here there's no question in my mind that running the meeting at 3pm would result in a substantially bigger gate than running at 4.30.

For a start, there would be one guest as opposed to two guests and two lots of rider replacement. No doubt which the floating supporters would prefer to see. Secondly, many Dudley supporters won't travel (some out of sheer bloody mindedness, some because their team is significantly weakened).

To be honest, I wouldn't argue with any of that. But it was advanced as a factor and, in fairness, I felt I should include it.

What a load of fuss about nothing. It's the third tier: there will be ocassions when teams have to put out weakened teams. End of story.

Has anyone considered the following? The meeting starts at 3pm, but then there are delays. What happens? Would Blackbird, Morris and Roynon have to leave mid-meeting to get off to Leicester? It could open a whole can of worms. It's better just to stick to the usual 4.30pm start-time, with replacements for the missing riders. As far as I can see as a neutral, both teams are missing riders, so it evens itself up. Not an ideal situation, but this season, with the weather as it has been, it's necessary to crack on with the fixtures.

All the best

Rob

And STILL nobody can answer my earlier question.if the stadium is not available until 4.30, why do Mildenhall wait until AFTER the BSPA ruled it should start at 3.00 before they make the point? If you know the answer, please tell me, but don't bother answering with a "non-answer"

Maybe you've not had an answer because your asking the wrong people ! How would the fans know I'm sure we've not privy to the inner workings of a speedway promotion, I've looked at a old programme and fold these details for you : Club secretary Nikki Lee 01638 712455 maybe you can ask Michael direct.

Halifax tiger you say:

Obviously with you vast experience of attending speedway meetings you must have been at a few(or more) that have had a delay for one reason or another would agree that riders attending two meetings within a short time is not ideal, I ask you what would happen if there was a delay of anything more that 1/2 hour ? Would riders leave early leaving the reserves to take their rides ? Is that allowed? Would the second meeting delay their start time even more? Would you advise riders to race up the motorway maybe putting lives in danger? As you can see the list is endless, and I'm sure we don't have all the answers do we !

The question was posted on here in response to the vast amount of inaccuracies that people had been writing. Furthermore, giving us the contact details to get hold of the club is a complete and utter waste of time when the Mildenhall website clearly states that the meeting will start at 4.30 and no further comment will be made on the matter. Thanks for that - very helpful!!!
