PhilK
From the Mildenhall website - Mildenhall Fen Tigers have been given a boost ahead of their crucial National League clash with Stoke Potters at West Row this Sunday (3pm), with up-and-coming teenage star Josh Bates declaring himself fit to ride despite a heavy fall at Buxton last weekend. It had been feared the youngster was facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, after landing on the shoulder that's caused him trouble since an early season crash. But after treatment from speedway specialist Brian Simpson he will be able to race on Sunday. Mildenhall Co-promoter Michael Lee said, "The problem with Josh's shoulder is quite complicated and at some point he will need to give it some rest to let it fully recover. But, as always, Mr Simpson's treatment has been a massive help and Josh is determined to carry on riding." Lee is fully aware that another tough task lies ahead for the Fen Tigers as they look to keep their unbeaten league record intact against the Potters. "With Simon Lambert back and Ashley Birks leading them, they can never be under estimated and I'm sure Ben Reade will be determined to make up for the off day he had here in the Pairs. We had some terrific tussles with them home and away last year, where we came out firmly on top, so I am sure they'd love to get one back on us." Before the two sides battle it out for the league points on offer, Mildenhall Number One Cameron Heeps will go head to head with Ashley Birks for the Bronze Helmet. "It makes it a great double bill of action and it'll be a real feather in his cap if Cam can win it," Lee added. Fans are also being reminded that Sunday's meeting starts at 3pm and NOT the usual 4.30pm to allow Fen Tigers' skipper Lewis Blackbird time to travel to Leicester where he is riding for the Lions in the evening. There is the chance for supporters to meet stars Cameron Heeps and Joe Jacobs tomorrow (Sat 4th Aug) as they both attend the Lakenheath Carnival . Mildenhall Fen Tigers: 1 Cameron Heeps 9.18 2 Joe Jacobs 6.27 3 Stefan Nielsen 8.65 4 Daniel Halsey 6.62 5 Lewis Blackbird © 7.01 6 Ryan Terry Daley 3.00 7 Josh Bates 3.00 T/M Robert Henry Stoke Potters: 1 Simon Lambert 9.46 2 Adam Wrathall 4.70 3 Tony Atkin 7.84 4 Ross Walter 3.00 5 Ashley Birks 8.28 6 Liam Carr 3.00 7 Ben Reade 3.00 T/M Malcolm Vasey
greyhoundp
The Tigers to win by 10. but maybe The Potters can keep it to 6, very much depends how well the Potters lesser lights do, ie Tony, Ben and Liam.

Super Blue
Does anyone know who exactly Lewis Blackbird is riding for on Sunday as apparently Leicester are insisting that he will not be riding for Mildenhall as their start time is 6.00pm ? Wasn't this meeting brought forward to allow him time to get to Leicesterfor a 7.30pm start ? If so it's an absolute joke !!!
fentigers79
R/R For lewis it now seems shame promotion couldn't sort it out properly, we were clearly told the reason for the change of start time was to allow for Lewis to get to Leicester for their delayed started

Sorry Steve I didn't make that clear, the fans were told last week that our start time was being brought forward and leicester were going to push their star time back for tomorrows meeting the 19th wasn't mentioned, so why now have we been told its R/R for Lewis ? greyhoundp
I am guessing that on the 19th you are probably riding against The Heathens, The Tigers would be without Lewis, and The Heathens without Adam & Ashley, also i believe a fair few Heathens fans will take in the Leic v Worky meeting on the way home, so everyone gains by having 1 meeting start brought forward, and the other start time put back,
Super Blue
I'm sorry , but this is a cock up by somebody somewhere and the losers are Mildenhall losing their captain to a meeting where with all due respect to him he probably won't score many , signed up for the season as captain and he buggers of to ride for Leicester ! I think it's wrong but it's all about opinions I suppose .
2ndbendpostie
No problem with Lewis trying to improve himself by riding premier league, that is what we all do in life, so good luck to him at Leicester, but I do have a big problem with this late announcement especially as the start time has been changed, seems like the management teams first major cock up since being in charge, and against a much stronger looking Stoke team it could be very costly.

If you get offered a PL spot when you're riding in the NL, you're not likely to turn it down if you want to progress your career.
Super Blue
I as others have said have no issues with riders trying to better themselves or enhance their careers but when it's to the detriment of the team who took you on board and made you captain I really think it's a bit much ! He should be loyal to and ride for Mildenhall first and foremost this season IMO and if good enough move on next year !

I'd say all that has happened here is cross wires........Clearly Mildenhall thought the Double header would be today and Leicester thought it was the 19th and this has caused some last minute phone calls. Although it is a little surprising it was allowed to get this far. Nobody would have been any the wiser if it had of been R/R for Lewis today. As to Lewis' loyalties I think the rules dictate where his priorities lye not him otherwise Leicester would be frantically ringing round for a guest now. aljack
It does, Aljack, weather permitting. Thank you MrMungo well weather permitting as you say I hope to be there and the clashes between Cameron and Lambert should be good entertainment. Lets hope for another Tigers victory as they push for the title continues and most important of all the 13 riders all stay safe.
