For me it's either Ward or Woffinden not to get a place Vaculik like Mjj has won a GP so he should be in and Hampel is a dead cert . Interesting times to see who gets the picks and remember Mjj could be world under 21 champ so needs to be considered

A huge talent but no shoe in.

hagonshocker
So Woffenden will get in merely on the basis hes a 'British' rider?? not good

dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
You could say the same about Tai. Totally agree and if he is in then it will be as much do with politics as talent. Thats life though - not just sport or just speedway. Gavan
MJJ scarped into the semis and won and didnt make the semis in the other gp. he was good in the wtc but shocking in gorizan. WARD HAMPEL VACULIK are certaintys thats for sure. Tai will be in for politics only as really MJJ should be in ahead of him but he wont be
iris123
Sure Michaels time will come. But if he wins the world U21 championship as well as the Gp at Vojens then that surely say's his time is next year.He is improving at a very good rate and i don't see that next year will be any different.I think by the time 2013 comes he will be in a position that he could be regularly making semi finals and sometimes finals. He might not win another one next year, but i think if he has that world title it will be hard to make the case for anyone else over him.Obviously we will get one though if some Brit is in
DougieD
Think TNT has the wilcards spot on ... as for MJJ he won on a track where he has ridden since he was 8, he holds the track record and the track conditions were more suited to him than some of the stars. Last night he showed us what he IS capable of in a much weaker field. That alone will have cost him any chance of a wildcard.
iris123
He might have ridden at Vojens since he was 8,but the track he rode on most of that time is next door to the GP track
lucifer sam
Let's not forget MJJ was the Danish hero in the World Cup as well - I'm sure the final was in Sweden, not Vojens Much rather see him in the Grand Prix, rather than Woffinden - MJJ will stir things up instead of getting humiliated every two weeks. MJJ's credentials are also far better - remind me how many World Cups and Grand Prix rounds that Tai has won? I think the wildcards should be: Hampel Ward MJJ Vaculik But I have a nasty feeling that we will see the final place go to Woffinden rather than MJJ. All the best Rob
iris123
And as far as i remember none of the world U21 rounds have been in Denmark, let alone on the Vojens 80cc track

Politics comes ahread of getting the best 15 riders in the world in the GP. Tai still has time to become one of the best 15 if he gets his head down - but at the moment, he's nowhere close. All the best Rob WELL put and Vaculik has proved that his Gorzow win was no fluke. MJJ has plenty of time. Phil, so are you suggesting Vojens was a fluke? How about MJJ's performances in the World Cup then? Such as Heat 19 in the final. Holder had won Heat 18, with Nicki P only third, and the Aussies were right back in it. But MJJ then provided a wonderfully mature ride to hold back Holder and put the Danes on the brink. MJJ, for me, just edged NKI out as the best rider in the World Cup this year. Please can we have the best 15 riders in the world in the Grand Prix, rather than a hand out to the Brits? All the best Rob

All the best Rob IF Woffinden had a decent team to support his scores he would have won a WTC, as for the GP when he was thrown in last time he was not ready. He is now number one at his club and is a far far better rider than MJJ .... of that there is no doubt at all
JT
Taking away commercial considerations, can anyone think of a single reason to justify having Woffinden in the series next year? Genuine question, because I can't. He's not British Champion (despite the final being held on his home track), he's had a wildcard before (and was woeful) and although he did quite well in World Cup race-off (he was average in Event 2), he was outperformed by MJJ. On the subject of 'commercial considerations', would anyone of us currently watching GP's, stop watching, because a token Brit wasn't included? What are the odds on Woffinden getting a place, the excuse being his 14 point haul (incl. a Joker) in the World Cup race off, and Monster announcing a sponsorship deal? JT. Oh, that's right, he failed to quality despite the British Final being on his home track. You are joking that Woffinden is a better rider than MJJ? What has Woffinden ever won? Evidence please. Being the No 1 at Wolves is no qualification (just means he's least worst of your riders) - if he was No 1 for his Swedish and Polish teams, I'd be much more impressed. All the best Rob Woffinden would have been British Champion apart from Eddies fall, what is MJJ's average in the Elite, please no first season crap he is supposed to be a WTC champion after all so it should not be a problem, and a GP champion FIVE last places last night in a field a rider of his "supposed" calibre should have waltzed thru ... FIVE ... 0-0-0-0-0 = 0pts .... not that good at all really Edited September 30, 2012 by DougieD

Anyway, that was last year's excuse; he should have still gone out and won it this year. If he can't beat Nicholls and Harris, he's got no chance against the World's Elite. I've got nothing against Tai Woffinden, but he will be humiliated in the Grand Prix next year unless he puts his head down and steps it up big time. He's not ready. Maybe in a couple of years, he will be. But let's have a British rider because we deserve one, not just because of politics.
