waco
Hector ..I was]not aware that i was critisizeing any one, or any team,, just stating facts off the bpsa site and passing an observation of those facts...Certainly agree they made better use of the points limit at the start of the season than any one else... TMW
Biggest joke now in this league is whos at reserve, been same for a few years and something needs to be done about ti In what respect???? I agree maybe as Perry has a 'settled' PL place maybe he should be replaced by a 3 pointer any suggestions????? but Dudley are out to win the league after the dissapointment of the last 2 years and good luck to them. (as Scunny were last year. Remember a cerrtain S Nielson at number 8 as a 5 point rider?). Ben try as he might to get a new average has simply not done enough meetings but that is down to weather and amount of meetings in the NL when he has he will move up!!!!!!!!!!!! I supose at Stoke the race is on to see who makes the most progress out of Wrathall and Carr as that could be Adam down at Res again!!!!!! Would that be a joke????? britmet
You'd better tell the SCB then, who still refer to it as the National Development League in the 2012 regulations at least once! The name aside, I'm sure you would accept that development of riders is part of its reason for existence. Obviously that would not be at the same level as the ADL and MDL you mention. Only once ? I've just skipped thu the Regs and finally came across the one (and only one, I think,) ref to National Development League, - on p38 . I did find 14 other mentions of 'National League' or 'NL', and never an 'NDL'. Dare I suggest an oversight in the drafting, ( - or else very sloppy drafting !) Yes, the league came into existence for that reason, but much water has flown under the bridge since then, and several name changes as well, as the league per se as developed from what it started out as. Sure, riders in the NL are developing for the PL or EL, in the same way that PL riders are developing up to EL standard. By that logic every level except the top level, - SGP ? - , could be classed as Development status.
montie
Right I'll ask the question again In what respect? As in riders hover so long at reserve and that a rider like Tom Perrys, due to his success[pl team place] has missed fixtures, 6 home and 6 away is to much for an 8 team league It happened with Jerran Hart a few years ago,i even think Gary Irving had a match at reserve last year.Madness i want to see the quality riders step up the NL as quick as possible

Is that step up to Pl or step up to NL from Junior and Amateur leagues? And now we have come in from the playground how could this be achieved? release monthly averages? This probably wouldn't make much difference as Kings Lynn have ridden 1 match in 6 weeks I think Drop the matches when a riders averarge changes to 2 A 2.H. Not a realistic reflection of average scoring power IMHO. Rank riders rather than go on their scoring achievements? I believe this is done in NZ and is successful but not quite sure how it works. I can't think of any others. One thing that is for certain is the NL is going through a barren period but I'm sure it will pick up as the DL's and the Amatuer meetings are showing great prospects. britmet
Rank riders rather than go on their scoring achievements? I believe this is done in NZ and is successful but not quite sure how it works. Wasn't there ranking into a number of grades, A,B,C etc. in the NL/CL about 5 or more years ago ? I wasn't too involved/interested back then to have paid much attention. .
Swift Saint
"I believe this is done in NZ and is successful but not quite sure how it works." Doesnt produce many riders. Seriosuly there was a grading system in the Conference League althoiugh not A B C etc. It was not popular and in my opinion what we have now is better although flawed by lack of fixtures Malcolm vasey
THE DEAN MACHINE
i think the grading system that we used before was flawed because of the way riders were graded , if i remember right we had a rider at sittingbourne who was graded a 10 point rider even though he had never rode in a meeting before and some 8 point riders were graded at 5 and its that bunny brained type of thinking that made the grading system fail in the NL , had they just graded a rider on his average it might of worked abit better but then again when it comes to rules in the NL good ideas never get past the door
villiers210
In my opinion, in a league that only has 8 teams, having to ride 3 home and 3 away matches before averages are re-assessed is far too many. If they were done monthly, riders current form would be taken into account more and we wouldn't be getting these anomalies.

Agreed, but equally with so few fixtures a rider would only have to miss one or two home matches to be artificially low or a couple of aways to be ridiculously high. Not easy either way. I see where you're coming from, but the "anomalies" wouldn't be lasting for so long. It is a difficult one though.
