5 FURROW
DOES your source live on the moon? Or cloud cuckoo land? Well he thinks MJJ is God so your quote is spot on
f-s-p
Dont think you need to pay anything extra when organizing a FIM event, the riders money is listed in the FIM rulebook. Then you pay a meeting FIM license or similar that includes the FIM officials and their hotel bill. Thats about 2-3k. But when talking about FIM BSI/IMG event, thats a different story. Tracy M
Facilities not good enough Food outlets are not opened some times Small capacity Coventry's track is ok but often has ruts in it. LagutaRacingFan
Coventry's track doesn't deserve to be graced by a rider of Michael Jepsen Jensen's elegance and style.

Backless
From my sources at the FIM, It would cost £40,000 to hold an FIM Event and what they do is you pay them 40k and you get an event. BUT you don't know whether it's Event 1, Event 2 or the Final. Berwick are current;ly in negotiation on establishing an exchange rate to convert the fee into Scotch pies. Your sauces will be useful when negotiations are completed A further £500 + £50 adminstration charge to pay for transport, accomadation and other "luxuries" for the FIM inspectors for the track and If they tell you that you need to upgrade then you HAVE to upgrade, Too much money already put into the event so you have to do it as you won't get a full refund and It will be payed in installments IF you want to pull out. "luxuries for the track" programmes at £4 are luxurious enough. Regards JepsenJensenRacing Ah bless, have you been looking at a grown up's letter? Coventry's track doesn't deserve to be graced by a rider of Michael Jepsen Jensen's elegance and style. Have you taken down all the pictures of Little Kenny Bear, or just pinned Ickle Mikey's pictures over them like another layer of wallpaper? Gemini
The stadium's capacity is 5,000 and was built in 1948. No argument about the year but I'm sure the capacity is more than 5,000. I thought it was around 12,500? Mind you standing near the front of the terraces might be a bit tricky as you'd only see the helmets going by. A ORLOV
The local councils determine the capacity along with, I assume, advice from the elf and safety brigade. Swindons current limit is about 5000 where as in the past crowds have been 2 to 3 times that for test matches. I would imagine the limit is controlled by a number of factors from the number of emergency exits the stadium has and the time it takes for everybody to get out to the number of toilets it has. full-throttle
the grandstand seats circa 1800, but due to the taylor report is now limited to about 1500, I would think you could get 1000 on each bend and another 2000 on the back staright, add to that 250+ on the home straight and 300 in the bar/dining lounge there is capacity to hold around 6k. More than enough for this type of meeting. How about holding the race off at one venue and the final at another. Sheffield is only 2 hours away from Coventry so wouldn't make to much organization if the WTC was held on these shores

TV wouldn't want to set up at two venues, stadium branding, ticketing, etc.
full-throttle
sorry for the double post, covdogs.com have the capacity listed at 4500, although that seems a little low to me phil. isn't this the biggest problem with Speedway in the UK. Football moves from city to city, even the Olympics are hosting matches at smaller stadia, as posted it's less than two hours drive from Sheffield to Coventry, so I can't understand how the logistics would make that much difference. The airfence could be transported as it is for the GP's, both Sheffierld and Coventry have the capacity to host Televised events, and maybe more fans from north of Manchester would attend if one meeting was further north

This is speedway we are talking about, not the Olympics or football. The money isn't there. It's a nice idea but, as I say, simply not practical.
