British Final At Wolverhampton, Mon 30th July 2012

Recommended Posts

In saying that i think you would never see a British Final like that in this era now. Was a massive crowd and they didn't even show the grandstand side of the stadium. Very happy memories of Wiggy though, Be strange with Lee not being there tonight

You are right, finals like that are a thing of the past . Watching that race again, after all this time did remind me of how much better the old shape circuit at brandon was, when compared to the current one. :D

Agree with you on that, The track now is to fair for everybody and we get no real home track advantage.

Even better 1987 and King Kelvin.

Watching that makes you realise how every race was like a final, a point dropped would cost you the title. Makes for good tv these days going to the last heat but for me 5 rides each, highest points scored wins.

I would like a northerner Josh Auty, Craig Cook or Stuart Robson either win outright or be second behind Bomber so that he can go to Cardiff....absolutely sick of seeing same old faces, getting same old result, Scott or Tai have never amazed at Cardiff (unfortunately!!) ...hope the younger lads can step up their form and come out on top of this.Should be a good meeting either way.

I'll say it again, how would Tai be same old face? He has never won the British Final, and he has only made one appearance at Cardiff when he was a GP regular. He had one ride last year as track reserve and came second?

Surely a 21 year old counts as a "younger lad"?

In the scheme of natural career progression, Tai needs to win this. It doesn't help it being at Monmore IMO.

Wouldn't be dissapointed if Roynon shook 'em all up.

Glad we've had a bit of rain. Track seems to be prepped better after it if last week's surface is any guide.

In fairness Tai hasn't ridden there that many times but Scott made the final in 2008. So other than winning, what's your definition of 'amazed'?

For me as much as i am looking foward to tonights meeting, the link below shows the era i most remember the British Final as being the meeting of the season.

Wolverhampton will fill 1 side with ease but would never cope if that amount of people turned up

Wow,what a crowd, just shows what a mess Speedway is in now.

Hopefully Woffinden wins (if it isn’t to be Ashworth) I would like to see Tai at Cardiff this season, could be pretty interesting.

FWIW on the whole age thing, Woffinden was comparable to both Holder and Ward at the age of 17/18 all three are far and away the best riders that I have seen race at that age during the 15 odd years I have watched speedway.

I would imagine Woffinden is the closest thing this generation will ever see in comparison to someone like Michael Lee in that, he was instantly superb.

His show at the P.L.R.C when he won was stunning for a rider of his age.

Even now, for a rider of his age Tai is an incredible talent, he isn’t the veteran that some seem to think he is.

Got to express that i think the removal of the racecard thread for this meeting is a very poor decision indeed. I've had to backtrack several pages already just to find the original post stating there is a card. I see that another provider bumped their card a page or so later. So many fans are going to be totally unaware that they are available for it. The BSF has always been a great service for providing users with information or access to it. One quote below regarding not expecting a card won't be an isolated situation. As it gets nearer the event even this post will disappear pretty instantly.

Is it possible for a Moderator (ideally the one who removed the racecard post) to give a reason. If it's to save space i should mention that there are currently many trivial threads all over the forums which don't provide anything tangible for the fans. I'd hastily point out that the cards are free contain no advertising or personal opinions. There is no personal gain from them nor personal 'fame' lol they are issued under a penname for goodness sake. They are provided simply as a free service for fans and the BSF has always been a great conveyor of such things.

A MiniMax Racecard is NOW AVAILABLE for this meeting from the usual racecard page below.

Cheers Paul, wasn't expecting this, much appreciated.

Fortunately for yourself you managed to catch a fleeting glimpse that one was available.

Anyone got a printable program for tonight they can post the link to.

See racecard link above. There is another one buried somewhere back in the pages.

Thanks as ever MP.....

Cheers Paul thats brilliant many thanks!

All are welcome.
