World Cup Final 14th July

Recommended Posts

Some very good speedway talent on show tonight.

Will the Russians give enough support to Emil?

Will Darcy's injury hold out?

Will the young Danes handle the pressure?

Will the Swedes be race sharp?

It'll be fun finding out.

Had thought the fact that Denmark qualified would provide a little extra spice with Sweden being the competing hosts. Is there no rivalry as such between the nations on the sporting front then? Are they that rare breed of neighbourly neighbours?

DW's graph starts at 2pm on Saturday.

I was talking from our point of view.Sure there is a big rivalry between Sweden and Denmark. But from an English point of view we only have a rivalry with Australia of those finalists really. And none of Germany,Scotland or France for instance have qualified so that is our other main rivals .Guess Finland might have a big dislike against Russia,so any Finns here might be hoping for anyone but Russia,Sweden and maybe Denmark :P Then it is a simple choice

I gave Holder some stick for knocking Harris off on Monday night but I have too ask:-

Were has all this anyone but Australia come from???

They're probably the most exciting team in the whole competition. Is it an anti Poole thing in a International tournament???

I'm not getting it!!!!!!

You're right It is an anti-Poole thing. So stuff 'em.

Come on the Pirates, I mean AUSTRALIA.

2.15pm now and it's absolutely slashing it down. This part of Sweden has had even more rain than the UK!

Obviously everyone is hoping to get the meeting on. Sky have a full production team here, there are Polish league matches tomorrow. Fingers crossed that if it does go ahead it will be on a rateable track.

2.45pm ... it's stopped raining and the sky is much brighter with white, fluffy clouds sweeping across.

Yesterday's practice was a bit sparse ... only Mikkel B Jensen for Denmark, just Grigory Laguta for Russia (and only then a couple of starts because he has never ridden here), three Swedes (no Jonsson) and five Aussies.

Bit risky putting Darcy Ward in now that there are no reserves allowed to fall back on

Matt Ford is working on this rule as there all Poole assets in the aussie team expect to see the aussies with Gollob as the only reserve allowed

Don't really feel the need to support any team in this meeting, just hoping for some good racing and a reasonably close finish for the trophy. Once my own team are knocked out of any competition I lose the partizan attitude and just hope to be entertained, being English and following Manchester City has given me plenty of practice at this over the years.

As much as I want to see good racing I suppose it would be improved if Nicki Pedersen can generate a bit of rough and tumble, always adds spice to any meeting when he does something daft. Most importantly of course I hope nobody gets hurt.

Enjoy your speedway.

It is probably a dislike of Holder and Ward, now why on earth could that be? Hype overload from the south coast perhaps?

I've always found Jason Crump to be a superb and dignified ambassador for speedway and one who has earned great respect in his career - a lesson to many. He's also damn good to watch.

That's not always been the case though with Crump. Now yes, but in his younger days he persistently acted the spoiled brat, with histerical dummy spitting antics! I'm sure age & experience has mellowed him, and he is a leading example of a professional speedway rider these days but you can't erase the past, and whilst I respect him for the rider he's become, I can't quite forget the rider he was.

The same will probably be said for the Turbo Tarts in a few years time. Whilst they're not particuarily petulant, they are very arrogant at times, which generally gets on peoples thripennies unless your a poole fan or another aussie! Davey Watt's had his moments too!

So, calling it a hatred is a bit strong, but I'm definately not a fan of the Aussie team, so would prefer to see any other team on top of the rostrum.

WARD seemed fine yesterday. Was given a thorough examination by a doctor (who coincidentally specialises in hand injuries) who bent his left hand in all directions without any adverse reaction from Darcy.

No sense no feeling! :P

To me, I would like Niels to be rewarded for the effort he's applied this year with a class performance in a World Event. Probably then he will be assured of a return to the SGP next year, as either, a wild card or as a qualifier.

As for a fav team to win, I'm not that bothered who wins as long as the meeting is exciting with a fitting climax to the weeks tournament.

A last heat decider, where the team won on merit and not for the use of a Joker, would be wonderful.

Keeping my fingers crossed the rain stays away............

I want to see the dead oppposite and no antics from Pedersen, just clean racing would do me and plenty of it!!

Hope it's a better meeting than Thursday's, that was garbage. Unfortunately, I fear a walk in the park for the Aussies.

Hopefully Nicki can mix it up a bit to make it entertaining.

I would agree with that, Neils has been a revelation this year, must be the Norfolk air!
