World Cup Race Off 12 July

Denmark do look the team to beat, but if Mallila is a horse power track then dont rule out the Poles,as for Team GB,third is the best we can hope for IMO.We have had two good meetings so far in the SWC,hopefully thursday & saturdays meetings will be just as good.

Hoping for another good meeting as I've really enjoyed the last two rounds :)

Like many other's I can't see GB going through but I know they'll give it everything.

If we don't win tomorrow (which is highly unlikely ;)) I'd like to see Denmark do it because I think they should be rewarded for giving the young kid's a go :)

Good luck to Team GB!! :D and I'm hoping for good racing and safe riding :)

I will be cheering team Gb on as I did monday night.......the lads gave a sterling performance but our tactics were all wrong, dont come in front too many races and let other teams go too far ( ) behind..keep watching the scores!!! Also I'd love to see Yorkshire man Josh Auty in the team....get in there you Brits!!

maybe we could do with Stekkers being our manager

Don't agree with that. There's no point giving points away. Australia gained 3 points with the joker. For every point you "protect" you can take a point off from that. I can see there might be a reason to do it towards the end as the final few heats unravel, but not early in the meeting.

In fact, you could argue that the tactics with the Joker were pefect because they went 6 ahead with Holder in the next heat so nullified the TS.

I never said whether to do it early or late though did I? Only to keep aware of the "gap"

All the talk about playing a tactical game goes out the window when a chain breaks or a clutch burns out. I think you have to go for "Virgo-Taktik" - i.e. "Score as many points as you can". Another example of "keeping it simple, stupid"!

Correct, you did not specify a time but you did suggest that the error was in winning to many races, which ones did you have in mind?

After heat 6 we didn't win another until heat 10 (Harris) by which time the Aussies had played their joker. That ht 10 win put us one point in front of Australia. King won ht12, which maintained our 1point lead.

The next GB race winner was in ht17 (Harris) which was for double points. Following that heat we needed to win all the remaining ones to have any chance of taking first place.

So you seriously suggest that GB would have been better off giving up places early in the meeting, that's just plain ridiculous, it must have been hard enough to win those 5 races on the trot without having to try and engineer a 2nd place, or maybe you would have preferred just 1 point from certain heats.

Apparently practice is already over. There were no problems with the track after plenty of work being done on it last night and this morning. Denmark had five riders practising with the other teams four.

Good news!

MBJ is replaced by Nicki P. He's just tweeted that he's ok with it, the team is strong and he'll be back next time. Very professional I thought! :approve:
