Long Eaton Invaders 22

Sheffield Cubs 14

MDL

Saturday 30th June 2012

A victory for Long Eaton over Sheffield Cubs on Saturday evening, and also a little victory for speedway over minor adversity. The Invaders were already depleted by the loss of Lee Geary and Chris Widman, both having been invited to ride in the National League for Rye House and Buxton respectively, but had managed to put together a quartet of riders, thanks to the addition of Kings Lynns' Jake Williams. Meanwhile, Sheffield had been unable to raise a full team. The result of this was that Lee Springthorpe switched over to ride for Sheffield, leaving each team with three riders only, and both using the rider replacement facility.
