Stand by for the last match in the televised 2012 Elite League series as Sheffield Stars go head to head with Oxford. Action from this title decider will be screened on Sky Sports on Tuesday March 19th at 7pm on SS4 and again at 11pm on SS2.

Following their home defeat at the hands of Poole in their penultimate match, the Hammers travelled to Yorkshire knowing that they needed to secure at least one league point in order to retain their title. The Stars - with British Champion Andy Angell leading their team - had other ideas!

Any speedway or cycle speedway fans that are around Birmingham on Sunday why not pop down to Perry Park to see the Monarchs in action against East Park. Racing will start at 2pm in the park. It is free to watch, parking right by the track and there will be food and refreshments for sale to keep you warm!

If you never been before you can enter the park by car at Perry Avenue and follow the road in the park to the main car park. From there you will see a gated one track road, follow that to the end and the track is on the right hand side.

More details are on the website via my signature.

The 2013 Elite League season gets underway tomorrow afternoon at 2pm with three competitive looking matches lined up. Defending champions Horspath Hammers take on many people's tip to take over the title, Wednesfield Aces who incluse their key new signing Paul Heard. Ipswich have re-inforced their top end and will start in a confident mood against Poole while Birmingham take on Sheffield at their new Elite home venue, Sandwell. All three matches are too close to call and could go either way. For a full preview, follow the link to Spokesman online http://www.spokesman-online.co.uk/previews_428.html and for track directions go to the cycle speedway pages of the British Cycling website.

After last weekends opening Elite League meeting against Sheffield, Birmingham travel to Coventry this coming Sunday (21st April) for a challenge fixture.

Racing starts at 2pm at Hearsall Common. The postcode to get there is CV5 7BB which will take you to Broad Lane. From there go to the island at the bottom of the road and take the first exit and the track is on the left where you can park on the grass.

Before that on Saturday Paul Timms and Stephen Hodgkinson will do battle in the first round of the Eurovets series at Leicester's Slater Street stadium (1pm start)

Birmingham are then in Elite action the Sunday after away at Poole.

Hi Gustix, there is only one track in London (to my mind) East London. Here is a link to their website, http://eastlondoncyclespeedway.webs.com/ , it has details of them and track location but the fixtures for this year do not seem to be on their. Best place to look for fixtures is this link. http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/cyclespeedway on the left handside you will see a "calendar" click that and the fixtures come up in date order. Hope that helps.

Pick of the Elite League matches tomorrow is the clash between Sheffield and Oxford (Horspath) at the Graves Sports Centre. The Hammers won there on the last day of the 2012 season to pick up the league title but the Stars were well below par that day. They will need to be firing on all 8 cylinders tomorrow to reverse that result.

Elsewhere Wednesfield should have too much firepower for up and coming Ipswich and Poole are unlikely to slip up against Birmingham who are missing several key members of their squad.

On the Birmingham website (on my signature) Monarchs female racer Natalie Timms has a Q and A as she tells us her ultimate girls 1-7 side, what she would like to see in the future for women's racing and also advice for any girls looking to have a go at the shale sport.

Coming up in the next few weeks will be Q and A with Sandwell specialist Scott Millward as he looks to return from injury, Nicky Evans on life with Birmingham and Newport this season and Richard Stevenson on how his maiden year in the sport went.

A great weekend in prospect in Round 3 of the Elite League with two key matches in terms of the title chase. Many people's pre season favourites Wednesfield know that they will have to be firing on all cylinders to get the better of visitors Sheffield who are high on confidence after lowering the colours of defending champions Horspath in Round 2. By comparison, the Midlanders were outclassed by the Hammers on the opening day of the season.

The match at Ashmore Park is too close to call and the same could apply to the other clash of the titans at Oxford where Horspath know that they cannot afford any slips against Poole after dropping points to Sheffield. The Hammers are sure to find extra motivation after losing home and away to the Dorset club in 2012 while the Comets will know that the match will hold absolutely no fears for them based on these recent encounters!

The outcome of the third match between Ipswich and Birmingham will go a long way in determining basement positions between these two clubs, neither of whom has yet to record a win. Much has been written of the emerging force which is the Suffolk club and this is their chance to underline that potential while their opponants are still attempting to rebuild their side after the transfer of Paul Heard, arguably Britain's top rider on current form, to Wednesfield Aces.

Full match previews can be found on the Spokesman online website and live updates on Sunday afternoon can be found on Twitter @eliteleaguecs from 2pm.

Sheffield kept their 100% record in Round 3 of the Elite after a remarkable comeback at the Graves against Wednesfield Aces who were leading by 6 points until a controversial series of events in the closing heats which saw Ben Mould red carded. For the second season running, Poole pulled off a slender victory at Horspath with European champ Marcin Szymanski going through the card. Full match reports on Spokesman online and British Cycling websites.

Horspath 88 Poole 89

Ipswich 112 Birmingham 67

Sheffield 90 Wednesfield 84

Next matches - June 9th.
