Press Release received at 3:10 pm.

TONIGHT'S World Under-21 Speedway Final at Coventry's Brandon Stadium will start on-time at 7.45pm.

Early afternoon rain has now cleared the stadium, and the track is in good condition after the scheduled midday practice session was cancelled as a precautionary measure.

British Speedway chairman Alex Harkess said: “We’ve had rain, but that has now stopped and the track had been prepared with that in mind.

“We have a better weather forecast for the rest of the day, so the meeting goes ahead and we look forward to seeing everyone at the stadium to support these talented youngsters.”

IF they get a move on they might get through this meeting before the rain starts again, which is forecast around 10pm...depending on which forecast you read. So what's the chances of running it like a G.P. which is usually pretty quick and not like the Brandonapolis? Get the riders out for the next race within a couple of minutes of the result being announced. False start - straight round to the tapes again without returning to the pits for five minutes. It ispossible for meetings to be run smoothly but for some reason it seems to be a struggle at Coventry, so fingers crossed I am in a good mood when I get back to Leicester, which hopefully will be before midnight.

Well, credit where it's due but I don't really know where it's due - clerk of the course or referee - but this meeting definitely started off speedily with riders being put on two minutes as soon as the previous race results had been announced. Unfortunately though the pace couldn't be kept up because some of the riders seemed to have a death wish and kept heading towards the fence or doing a pirouette before spectacularly falling off. If that was what speedway was like every week I'm afraid I wouldn't go because I'd be a nervous wreck and it has just reinforced my view that speedway riders must be completely crackers to take up the sport. Roll on Monday when I can watch the more sedate racing in the Elite League.

Well done to Michael Jepsen Jensen on a 15 point maximum.

Oh...and it was nice to meet Stevebrum at last, also Racers & Royals.

freshy26.....The track was really bad. 12 crashes i think. first few heats where really strung out. couple of good race. Not worth the £20 to get in!!!!!!!!!

Not surprising really the amount of rain that has fallen and still continued to fall throughout the meeting.

Nice to catch up with Gemini, seeing as she forgot our first meeting.

We were trying to work out which Border Collie it was at the time!

Lovely pleasant lady, as i expected.

Not much in the way of racing and what a truly awful crowd for such a prestigious meeting.

Always a joy to see so many travelling Poles and love their non stop support of their riders.

Although saying that they dont like to lose. That certainly shuts them up.

I was an honourary Panthers/Jepsen Jensen fan for the night as our support certainly shut them up!

Bit juvenile tho to turn there backs when Newman won a race and in heat 14 when both Poles were excluded. Odd expression. :D

Jepsen Jensen was the stand out. Mikkel B would have been a close 2nd but for his last heat. Whilst Shamek showed he still knows how to ride Coventry. His brother clearly doesnt even remember racing there. :P

Newman did well even tho some of his points were gifted. Finished higher than 5 Poles, so i will take that.

Dudek was a huge disappointment , maybe harsh to judge on a lottery of a circuit. But clearly not interested in the title.

Double disappointed that Loktaev wasnt here as he missed the Poole meeting last year. STILL have to wait to see if he is as good as his international scores show.

Good to see Richie Warroll watching the racing, still on crutches.

No complaints from me, other than the poor weather which tried its best to ruin the meeting. The meeting was run as quickly as it possibly could given the track conditions and inevitable crashes, good that all the riders made it to the end in one piece, they were really going for it and some didn't look at all comfortable on track.

Well done to Jepsen Jensen on a faultless maximum, was aggresive in the first turns when he needed to be, looked good. Big thanks to Bartosz Zmarzlik though, possibly now my favourite rider in speedway for the show he put on tonight, very entertaining!! Two brilliant moves round the outside of turns 3 and 4 that made Bombers passing skills look boring and easy! Amazing bike control for such a young rider to stay on his bike and make the passes. Even with his 3rd place GP finish I didn't get all the hype about the guy but having seen him tonight I'm impressed! Worthy mention for Nikolaj B Jakobsen who I didn't know much about, looked to be a good racer who deserved more points.

Well done to the 2 Brits too, the track conditions rewarded those who rode sensibly and could keep control and the Brits did a good job of doing just that, steadily picking up the points. More than could be said for Vaclav Milik who must have rubbed every air fence panel at Brandon at some point!

Great shame about the weather, would have been good to see what show they could have put on with a normal track, the riders got stuck in though with some good races, a few scary moments however. The attendance was massively disappointing, really expected a much bigger crowd, understandable given the uncertainty with the weather though I suppose, even travelling from nearby places like Wolves and Birmingham would have been a gamble. Guess the ticket prices wouldn't have helped either, especially for those who don't follow the U21s too closely and only support their league teams.

You do realise that Patryk missed the first round of the series so was pretty much out of contention anyway?

If the track was as dodgy as it sounds, you can't really blame him if he wasn't giving it full gas when his chances were already uber slim and he is just getting over an injury.

Ermmm....Alex raced at Poole last year!

Admittedly he didn't complete the match as he crashed out and took a ride to hospital, but he was there and racing.

It was Vadim Tarasenko who didn't race at Poole last year due to visa problems.
