greyhoundp
Great away win for The Heathens, thanks to Ashley Birks for covering Royno, maximum from him, tremendous Team performance, this weekend will go a long way to us gaining a play off spot, but nowt is won in june, so keep up the momentum guys. Daniel Greenwood what can i say kiddo 2 years out paid for what 22/23 from 8 programed rides away from home on possibly 2 of the trickiest away tracks, well done. Thanks to all the staff up at Buxton for getting this meeting on despite all the rain thats been around over the week. As for losing interest that is not true but we can only work with what we have got. Feel free to tell us where we are going wrong.

It was the same Buxton team that defeated Stoke a month ago, but it appeared to have no sparkle at all yesterday. Those lads need help and encouragement. As for losing interest that is not true but we can only work with what we have got. Feel free to tell us where we are going wrong. Jayne, as a life long Heathens fan and a part time Buxton fan, I admire your ethos at Buxton which I think is the correct way to go for many teams. Another Adam Allott, James Mann, Armo, Dean Felton, Nick Morris, etc will come along sometime sooner rather than later. Perhaps the BSPA is to blame in the end as the rather silly rule about the over 30's should be abolished ASAP and then any rider with the correct average would be available for all the teams. The NL seems to be at a cross roads......train or stand alone? Perhaps canvassing the BSPA to change the rules might help for the future but, alas, not for today. Keep up the good work and prepare the lads for the next home match!

That was a very strong Dudley team, but that is how the league is structured ,perhaps Mr Pearson would like to comment on the Dudley wage bill. 771neil
Here we go again dudley win so must be on a fortune i know what they get and can tell you they are on less than what some other clubs are paying yes bit more than buxton but buxton as they have always done is budgeted and good on them they do a great job up there. Maybe seeing as its was dudley who are tipped as top team this year plus racing in front of good crowd there riders tried to hard to start off with and made silly mistake which dudley punished them for was always going to be hard match for them PS Fromafar the wage bill is high as they got to pay for 65 pts

Perhaps we should change our name to 'Dudley, the one to pick on from a far when other barrack room lawyers do not know what is going on at the Heathens!' Sorry, sarcasm is my strong point, I am & always will be a Heathens fan By the way, well 771Neil, are you the same Niel who rode speedway years ago for a certain team who are my chosen second team and assist someone, a Heathen, I cheer for at Monmore Wood and rode for Berwick last week? If you are, thanks for the entertainment that you provided and he provides!

Buxton are no different from any other Team in this respect, they are doing a good job under the circumstances and at least the fans are seeing speedway. Lets face it the BSPA are to blame for most things that are wrong with British Speeedway.I agree NL is at a crossroads, and IMO same applies to the EL. berniev123
i am the very same one and Thank you and the heathen i help is my partners son I had to ask as I know one of Tom Perry's sponsors, the one on his kevlar's leg, and he has spoken about having hordes of Heathens 2012 vintage at his place on Saturdays! Keep up the good work and you never know you may be helping our #1 in 2013 if Tom isn't! Or better still, to wind some up.....he could be in the NL, PL & EL in 2013........forgot I suppose Dudley, Berwick plus other PL (G) & Wolves EL (G) already counts as done 3 leagues this year! 21st century heathen
The Heathens riders are in top form at the moment and are brimming with confidence. The very same Buxton team beat Stoke a short while ago, and Stoke are tipped as PO contenders. It's quite obvious that the Heathens caught Buxton on a bad day for the home team and when in peak form themselves. I know a bit of panto rivalry has developed between the two clubs but as I life long Heathens fan I acknowledge that what Buxton achieve on a limited budget is terrific and was rewarded recently with success. I genuinely have a lot of respect for what Buxton bring not only to the NL but to British Speedway in general. Okay, so the current team is not the best in the league, c'est la vie. The Heathens finished 7th last season which doesn't quite equate with all the nonsense we're reading about being a big budget club. Bigger gate receipts do not mean on-track success. Yes, we get good crowds and yes that means the club is raking it in relative to some other clubs in the NL. But, and it's a big but, the vast majority of the profit is ear-marked toward the very expensive task of finding land for a track of our own and then developing it. Tens of thousands has been spent just on site-searches in the local area and it could take many thousands more before we even find a suitable piece of land. Some of the Heathens riders might be getting a fair bit more than many rivals but I think you'll find that a lot of it comes from sponsorship and private donations from the fans. Let's not forget that the comments about the NL being mostly about developing young talent are quite true. So how about a bit of praise for the Heathens young riders that are making good progress? Tom Perry was given his first chance in speedway by the Heathens at 16 years of age. Now, at 18, he's holding down a PL place as well as having developed into a genuine heat leader at NL level (his average from all meetings in the NL is about 9½). Ashley Morris joined us before his 16 birthday and he is also developing into genuine NL heat leader status (averaging just over 8 from all NL meetings) and having had an outing (and scored) in both the PL and EL he is surely on the cusp of being offered a DU role with a PL club. Darryl Ritchings was named our number 8 at 15 years of age in 2010 and did get a couple of meetings. He is now an important member of our squad and after a shaky start to this season is beginning to show the form we know he is capable of. We also have Dan Greenwood who has been offered a way back into the sport after a couple of years out. Now, he's hardly over the hill is he? He too is making great strides (already averaging 5½ from all NL meetings) and has had some terrific performances so far this season and surely there's more to come and he gets his eye in, so-to-speak. Would some of the detractors rather these young Brits were not making progress in the sport? And finally, congrats to our boys on a fantastic week. The Hitmen should, and I'm sure will, put it behind them as a one-off low point. If they learn from it and it doesn't happen again then in some ways it can be turned into a positive learning experience.
