The Poles are not using that rule in 2013. However there is talk about them limiting the amount they spend on team building!!!!!
DougieD
The day the GP is just a series of picks with no qualifying will be a sad day Why ??? IF it puts the top 16 riders on view than so be it to me. I look at it like being selected for your country in football, if you consistantly show you are good enough you should get a chance. People were moaning last year when Bjarne qualified because he was going to be outclassed & was one of the old guard, and they were right. If Ales Dryml had made it last night thoe same people would have been on his back. The qualifiers do not always work out. Was Jerzy Szczakiel really the best rider in the world in 1973 ? ... was Egon Muller the best in 1983 ? ... freak results. We cannot have it always, the common moan on here is that we want to see the best riders in the GP ... to be totally sure of that nomination is the ONLY way. The problem is politics will always have a place, so maybe even nomination is not the way. Yes the wild cards are there to help keep the field strong, I think 3 qualifiers is about right but the final should be over 2/3 meetings. Just my view Edited September 30, 2012 by DougieD
stratton
Was gutted Batchelor didn't qualify had it in his grasp i think he would of been a great addition to the series. Was chuffed Iversen qualified that was justice as he has been outstanding this year and the Danish federation has treated him shabbily this year in my opinion.!I think Troy can take heart of what NIels has done this year and he can come again he has the talent to do it.What happens now with Jensen? does he get a pick does he deserve one close call i think. Ghostwalker
NKI has been a sensation this season, hes a much better rider than Zagar in Poland and is well up there in Sweden too infact does Zagar even bother in Sweden? It depends on how you see it. No team wants him. From what I've heard this is mostly because he asks for way more money then what is reasonable. I look at it like being selected for your country in football, if you consistantly show you are good enough you should get a chance. Just my view My opinion and you don't have to agree with it is that every rider should be entitled to fulfill an ambition to ride in the GP series, therefore qualifiers is the only way to do that. You can argue that we should have the top 16 riders but it won't happen, the polictics will decides that there needs to be 4 Poles, 3 Danes and blimey even a token Brit. IMO the politics and the fact that its all about money will determine that its the best ruiders as long as it fits the commercial model of which countries are presented that will prevail. So you will never get the top 16 riders So for me, give every single riders the chance to qualify, use Ales as an example, he has qualfied once for the GP series and didn't qualify, Chris Harris has done what 8 or 9 seasons in the GP's and qualified...........................yep once !!! Are you telling me that Politics of having to have a Brit has not ensured Harris' participation. Its frankly absurd that one rider should get so many wildcard nominations. Your logic is that if you consistently show you are good enough you will get picked, surely failing to qualify over and over again shosw you are NOT consistent enough to get chance after chance and therefore the pick process simply must have other drivers Edited September 30, 2012 by Chris Brown

Haven't got time to Google clips right now, NFL and Nascar in full flow lol, but i' sure footage will surface. Oh yeah caught sight last night of a large article bemoaning the fact that no live tv coverage was available, can't remember if the source was Polish, Swedish, German or Croatian. Translated heat reports from Sportofaktwe (hope i spelt that right for once). Clearly been plenty of good racing. at times. .......Race 1 Leon Madsen 1Krzysztof Kasprzak 3 Krzysztof Buczkowski 2 Martin Vaculik 0 ratio based on Radio Elka. For next year's Grand Prix will advance the top three Contestants compete in Gorican. The presentation was completed. Stadium filled almost to the Brim. After a good start Kasprzak wysforował time to carry out and had no problems to bring the three points to finish. About one "eye" fought vigorously against Madsen and Vaculik, which came out victorious Dane. Chris Brown
Good to see Ales Dryml crowned European Champion today after the disappointment of missing out last night Reportsa in Czecho suggest that if another rider pulls out of the GP series then it will be Ales that steps in and not No 10, 11 etc in the current series. Not sure if this is the case or not but am sure someone willl know Edit. In fact what they are reporting is that rule 077.8.5 says Should a rider or riders Who Have Qualified Directly, Either by being in the top 8 of the Final Overall Grand Prix Classification or in the top 3 of the FIM Grand Prix Qualification system, Withdraw prior to the start of the Grand Prix season, the first rider or riders available on the official Grand Prix Qualified Substitute sheet Shall replace him or Them. Zdroj: http://www.speedwayfakta.cz/mezinarodni/grand-prix/ales-dryml-prece-jen-v-grand-prix-2013/#ixzz27z0HWshS Does this open up a hornets nest as it was reported earlier that Andreas Jonson would get Crump's place, this seems to contradict that Edited September 30, 2012 by Chris Brown

But likewise plenty of people were deriding the prospects of Zetterstrom and Lindback (when he re-qualified a couple of years ago) in the series. Zetterstrom held his own and Lindback has been something of a revelation so just shows you never can tell. Even Woffinden may not be awful if they put him in

I suggest Ales appeals this one and takes it as far as he has to to get his rightful place in the GPs.
spook
Wildcards will be tougher now must be Hampel Ward Vaculik and MJJ Yes.... in fact impossible is probably a good word for how they must be feeling in the IMG offices The names in the frame must be Hampel, Ward, Vaculik, MJJ, Woffinden, AJ ................ politically and realistically I dont see Laguta being involved When was the last time that a GP winner wasnt ensured a place in the following year's series? Theoretically that should mean Vaculik and MJJ are assured Ward is top box office and everything IMG & Sky want for the series.... it should mean he is assured Hampel is top class and has done nothing to lose his place apart from injury..... Polish quota also isnt an issue for him.... he should be assured For years IMG have grimly held on for dear life to the notion that a Brit should always be involved, Cardiff is a cash cow that they dont want to run the risk of upsetting........ it should make Woffinden feel assured...... never mind those long term rumours that it was a done deal months ago According to some VERY quick assurances from those in the know that AJ is now safe ... due to Crump's retirement.... it should be the end of it...................... however it does smack somewhat of speedway's inner circle, making a decision, closing in and now trying to force throught that square block in the round hole..................... I should imagine that they will get what they want and AJ can feel assured but it will be very interesting if this 'ruling' is challenged 5 into 4 doesnt go ...... and if the assurances being offered to AJ end up being hollow then the 5 becomes 6.............. I wouldn't offer Ward a chance to be honest, on talent yes but after tuning it down for money last year they should tell him to qualify if he wants in Just my view Ward is absolute box office.... once we acknowledge that WC's exist then he is always going to be a candidate According to mjj Danish clun webpage he was to drive from the hotel to the track with the dk national coach. The car had A flat tire. They went for mjj's Van, it had 4 flat tires (valves removed) !! reading through the thread i'm amazed no one has commented on this............. if true this is pretty outrageous behaviour from the culprit And for what its worth I do believe that riders should try to qualify and laregly I would say that if they do not even attempt to qualify then they should NOT be eliglble for a wildcard. Surely if you want to be in the GP's you should try to qualify ? Just my view yeah completely agree that if fit and healthy anyone who thinks they might consider a wildcard should have entered the qualifying process.......... the main problem that I see with it though is that it sometimes suits both the rider, and IMG/FIM if they DON'T enter......... isnt it more difficult to justify giving a rider a wildcard when he failed in the qualification process? I'm glad that NKI has qualified as of right and now has a chance to show what his new self is made of.............. but along with Zagar & KK we have 3 guys who have all failed abysmally at least once in the GP series .......... i'm not sure the top 3 are a good thing for 2013

Its just another example of why this is not a true World Championship but a circus designed to make money for BSI/IMG or whatever they are called these days. I know the Speedway Press will defend them but rules are in place and they are OK to ignore them..............when it suits. Sadly speedway appears to be of secondary importance these days. Sill as long as the Press can travel round the world on jollies I am suire it will be fine

brandonbee48
12 mins amateur video of the challenge final-only thing up at moment http://www.youtube.c...h?v=xG6rjBJNtyk Thanks for this. What a performance from the start line girls. (So-called) Elite League girls please note! Usually they appear surly and totally disinterested. As Pandorum and i have both observed with the Mega-Lada streams the entertainment value offered to the "people who pay the bills" i.e spectators, is so much more by the Eastern Europeans. Promotion i know but all this for one pound. Three pounds for the Mega-Lada spectators. Be interesting to see what is offered tonight for 17 pounds. Regards. Alan.
