greyhoundp Posted June 10, 2012 Report Share Posted June 10, 2012 (edited) Jeez, come on Bspa give our young riders some incentive to progress in the Sport, there should have been three Qualifiers for the British Finals, so easy to arrange, but NO, the Bspa in its wisdom carry on with their heads in the clouds, as they have done for years, if it aint broke then dont fix it, but if it IS broken and its been apparent it has been not only broken, but Demolished then try something different, try something new. Richie Worall, Steve Worall, Ash Birks, Joe Haines,Jason Garrity,Kyle Newman,Tom Perry possibly 1 or 2 others should have been included in another third qualifier, which could even have been held at a NL only Track ie Mildenhall, Stoke, IOW. We have to give these young British riders some encouragement to progress in British Speedway, but the powers that be seem incapable of doing something new, and just bumble along with the same old,same old. I have been made personally aware that members of the Bspa DO read this forum, so why dont they put in place some form of "group" to investigate the way British Speedway can move forward, and re establish itself as a World player once again, begin by changing the format for these British Qualifiers. Cue Ball Posted June 10, 2012 Report Share Posted June 10, 2012 Seem to recall that the qualifiers are based on last year's averages not this and that it is sorted at the beginning of the season and so doesn't account for current form. There has to be some sort of criteria/cut off and no doubt there would be criticism whichever way the BSPA decided it as there would always be somebody `worthy` missing out. Been the same for a number of years and so would then be harsh to change it now on riders who were good last year and deserved a shot, but were denied because of the same rule.... what goes around comes around? A rider has to indicate that they wish to compete at the beginning of the season - may account for Joe screen? (or any of the others for that matter) Jason Bunyan is from Milton Keynes - he was the wild card at the NZ grand prix, don't think that he represented NZ. A third qualifier could easily be done but hey its the BSPA so should be expect anything else? Last nights GP had 2 young danes in the lineup, the Gorzow GP will have Zmarlik, could you imagine the British authorities doing such a thing!? You could have 3 meetings with the top 5 in each qualifying and the 3 6th place riders go into a run-off pre-meeting for the 16th place, the other 2 being the reserves.
