Paul
How come he is allowed to ride meetings in Germany? At what age can they ride over there? Think we missing a trick here!
Parsloes 1928 nearly
Can't be one who objects to the Garrity situation seeing as Ritchie Worrall is riding EL & NL for two clubs I'm involved with (Lakeside & Stoke) but as a matter of clarification what IS the ruling on this now and when did it change? Am sure a year or so ago it was prohibited for any rider who appeasred in the top division to also ride in the third tier.. As for Lambert - well we have a rule in the UK which says a rider has to be 15 to ride in any competitive league Speedway (including the junior/development leasgues) - threre has to be a cut off point somewhere and 15 is what it is... iris123
You are allowed to ride 500s when you are 14 here. The Dryml brothers rode here before they were allowed to do so in Czecho.Max Dilger and a few others i think mad their Bundesliga debut at 14. Here is Roberts win against Smolinski from a few weeks back.Hopefully i am going to see him ride here tomorrow in the U21s Edited June 8, 2012 by iris123

25yearfan
If Garritys average fits then theres no reason why he shouldn't be in the NL! Afterall hes hardly setting the world alight in the PL so his average would be under 5 anyway and he obviously could do with the extra rides! greyhoundp
No objections whatsoever against Garrity riding in the NL, he is attemting to make the step up to PL and needs the confidence boost and regular track time the NL rides will give him, after all its not as if the guy is a PL Heat leader, YET. ashtree123
From what i saw on monday he would benefit more from a plain race suit and a little less ego though he does look pretty good. Whats wrong with his race suit? he looks very well turned out to me, maybe even better than some NL/PL Riders, and as far as to say about his ego, I think he has both feet firmly on the ground,
Triple.H.
Nothing wrong with his racesuit, its a personal opinion that young riders should wear something a little less flash, much like at a lot of premiership football academies players are only allowed to wear black boots. As for ego i thought he looked a bit full of himself, hopefully he is as you say very grounded and good luck to him he is learning far more in each meeting on the continent than he will doing lap after lap on his own.I dont know the situation with Australia but if he is eligible to ride a 500 down under at his age maybe he should be encouraged to try and get on the Young Brits trip.Getting time off school would oviously be an issue. ashtree123
As for ego i thought he looked a bit full of himself In what way!!!!! bet it was your first ever time seeing the young lad, I have seen him around different tracks and only spoken to him a couple of times and he is well spoken and very polite. I bet you are saying that because after he has done his 4 laps, he goes round pulling wheelies!!!!!!!! Dont knock the lad, bet thats why he rides abroad because of very jealous people slating him here in Britian
Shadders
From what i saw on monday he would benefit more from a plain race suit and a little less ego Oh dear... Is this the kind of thing he's gonna have to put up with throughout his career?
iris123
Must say i had a good long chat with Robert + his parents at the weekend and found them very pleasant. Can't say i saw anything like a big ego or bad attitude.Obviously if someone does better than those around them they will get some jealousy and nasty comments.I remember Arthur Sissis' father telling me similar things.I do think they have thought the situation over and decided on what they think will be best for Robert both from a development and also safety aspect
Ben91
The lad is good, he has every right to a nice race suit and to pop wheelies, strange people assume it's an ego thing, could maybe be a 13 year old lad having fun and enjoying doing what he loves? The Raiders did try to get him into the side for this season, however were refused permission, which is a shame as he is a fantastic rider and talent which could have been nurtured for both his and British speedway's future. Given the right guidance he can be a world class rider. As for Garrity riding for the Raiders, it makes sense and will be good for everyone involved, he's started to fire in the Premier League, another lad with undoubted potential, with Morley, Sarjeant and Hazelden also in the Raiders side, the future is looking bright for Rye House. berniev123
From my daughter's sporting experience in her day on an Olympic Squad , a very thick piece of cork between the shoulders & deaf ears help a great dealing with your eventual progress as a lot of rubbish is spoken in psychlogical jealosy about you by you peers and older competitors Go for it Robert, wear what you feel is correct and 'Ommer 'Em! Shadders
bet thats why he rides abroad because of very jealous people slating him here in Britian He can't race competetively against all comers in the UK. His parents must be congratulated for making the effort to drive to the continent so Robert can get some serious laps in... Imagine how good he's gonna be when he rides in the National League with all that experience behind him! iris123
Think it was PhilK a few weeks ago who said he wouldn't be surprised if Robert gave the NL a miss and waited until he was old enough for the PL/EL.I wouldn't be surprised if PhilK's hunch was correct

He'd learn more racing against stronger opposition in Germany rather than the lower standard of the National League.
