Well the surface is speedway-ish, but it called a longtrack indeed, the track is about 550 meters long. The trees have been removed a couple years ago I believe, no sign of trees anymore on Google Earth.

The official FIM site tells us this was their 125cc Grass Track Youth Gold Trophy.

At the same track, Vechta, on Sept. 9th is the FIM 250cc Long Track YGT !

(Are the bikes any different? - Rear suspension? Brakes ? )

The British win was reported on this site's Youth Speedway section, - Zach Wajtknecht .

Yes it was the Grasstrack Youth Gold Trophy, apparently the word 'grasstrack' or 'longtrack' means nothing if you look at the tracks they use in these meetings. It just has to be bigger then a speedway track...

The 250cc is going to be held on the same track in Vechta, the bikes they use are just like the 'normal' grasstrack/longtrack bikes but with a smaller engine.

The kids on the 125cc bikes usually use their same bike(s) on speedway or grasstrack/longtrack tracks.

They don't use brakes.
