Iversen looks genuinely world class this season, I can understand why he's dissapointed.

His step up in consistency, professionalism and top end scoring power would surely make him favourite in this years GP qualifiers?

I'd also be very surprised if he wasn't in the World Cup side. Aside from Pedersen, he's arguably Denmark's best rider on current form.

Shame in Britain we don't have any serious competition for a world cup slot, I think most of us would kill for someone with Iversens scoring power this season.

Ive always rated Iversen and am so pleased he has shown his true class and ability for Kings Lynn.As for the wildcard i think it isnt far short of a disgrace him not getting the nod.Is there alot of politics involved with the Denmark federation? and lets not forget as well as Nicki has done he has been given plenty of chances when he has struggled so they shouldnt throw that at Niels well he has had his chance.I think Jensen should have to be a bit more consistent over a period to have at this moment in time get that chance in front Niels.Saying that it is great that Jensen and maybe Kildemand will taste a bit of the gp exsperience i am just sorry it is at Niels exspence.Does something smell fishy with this decision? I feel sorry also for the Lynn fans i would think all would be proud of the way Niels has rode for them.

Ooh please dont compare Iversen with Nicki, he is not even on the same lap as the 3 times World Champion ..... they are right Niels HAS had his chances, maybe he will get them again but now is the time for youth to have its day :approve:

I dont compare Nicki to Niels but in the series Pedersen has had loads of second chances ok a terrific rider he has won 3 titles. But in history he wont go down high up because of the way he does things incidents galore.Ok win do you have to win at all costs? Iversen my gripe is at him being overlooked for Jensen Pedersen fair play to him his title challenge will fizzle out i dont want him winning a fourth title no way by the way Hasse is Niels ancient your Buddy Freddie has had millions of chances

Nicki's had loads of second chances???? Yes, he's been given a permanet WC the last two seasons, but the first of those was after a season written off with injury, and I don't think anyone could argue against him being one of the world's top 15 riders last year. Hardly "loads of second chances" is it?

Nicki won't go down high up in history? Well, I know he's proably regarded as the worst rider to win three or more world titles, but that's still pretty high up - must be ranked one of the top 20 of all time. If he wins this year - I'd say at this stage he would be slight favourite though anyone of the top 6 could still win - he joins a group of only 6 riders to have won 4 or more world titles, and would have to be ranked one of the top 10 riders of all time in my view.

Yes, he rides hard and to win - are you telling me Nielsen didn't, Olsen didn't, Penhall didn't? How many controversial World Final incidents was Hans in? Penhall - look at the way he took Nielsen out fuirst bend in 81, or the infamous Carter indcident in 82. Olsen in 77, Collins describes having to let him through (due to his broken leg), otherwise he knew Olsen would have knocked him off, and that would have been his night all over.

People complain that there are no characters in sport today, but then complanin when they do get a "patomime villain" like Nicki.

As for the Wc spot - well NKI is certainly the form Danish rider outside the series, so I guess he can feel hard done by. BUT... you'd have to fancy him to either qualify through the challenge this season, and if not be offsred one of the permanent WC if he continues this form, so that should compensate for any disapointment. As others have said, he's had WC chances in the past, why not give one of the youngsters a go this time - I'm pretty sure MJJ won't be disgraced.

I don't know about other leagues but Kildemand seems to be doing as well if not better than MJJ in England this year, it must have been a close call to pick Jensen.

Dirty rider he would not be in my all time top 30 Sigalos both Morans better and others. But Nickki is a terrific rider , Olsen 3 titles Pedersen 3 tiles no contest Ole different gravy would wipe the floor with Pedersen. Edited by sidney

As a fan of Olsen who watched him home and away from 1970 till 1975 I must have to say "He would have to catch Nicki first" ... & that aint easy :approve:

Thing is Sidney, you can't "fluke" a GP title, let alone 3! You certainly don't win it just be being "dirty".

The Moran's are amongst my very favourtie riders of all time, but to rank them (or Sigalos) ahead of Nicki is laughable. Kelly Moran never made a top3 in a World Final, woulddn't have got close under a GP system, never even won a major World Final qualifying meeting. Sigalos and Shaun both had better records than Kelly, but still managed just one World Final medal apiece (under a GP system, Siggy would probably have finished 3rd in 82, Shaun 3rd in 84,85 and possibly 89 or 90). The latter two would both be definitely in the top 10 riders of the 80s (Kelly wouldn't) - but no way do they compare to Nicki (and I say that as a much bigger Moran fan than a Nicki fan).

As for Olsen, I too would rate Ole ahead of Nicki (though I'd revise that view if Nicki wins this season) - but I certainly don't think Ole would wipe the floor with him!

I understand that you don't like Nicki, and that's fair enough, but I think you're allowing your personal feelings to cloud your judgement of just what a good rider he's been (and still is).

Without banging the drum too much on how much better the GP system is compared to the old one off world finals, at the last GP Freddie Lindgren (had it be a one off) would now be world champion, but we know on a consistency basis, he's really not that special!

Again this proves the theory that the GP series is better!

I think it's fair to give MJJ the wildcard as Denmark have a good crop of youngsters and giving them meetings like this can only help them develop. Poles and even Russia have a similar crop of good upandcoming riders. We here in the UK can only stare in envy as our lads can't even establish themselves in a p#ss poor league like the EL. I wish we had a couple of Zmarzlik's, Dudeks, MJJ's but sadly all we have are a few that might make the grade given a real chance in a senior league system that does not give them a real chance. We prefer to bring on the rest of the world over our lads.

Our wildcard for Cardiff will probably be Scott Nicholls who fair enough is a decent rider but hardly one for the future.

Scott Nicholls will have to win the British final first(or 2nd to Bomber)as i would think same qualification will apply as before.

I don't think that 7 points would have won a world title. There were no grand finals in those days.

Hasse i never watched Ole as much as you but i see quite alot of him but if i was betting my last pound on a best of 20 races Ole would beat him no doubt in my mind.Go on you tube and watch Ole take Collins from the back in the BLRC at hyde rd.At that time PC was awesome there and nearly unbeatable. The thing with Olsen was he would of took no messing from Pedersen ? was ruthless and as a rider could do anything. Also if Nicki was quick in front then how quick was Olsen?Cant take nothing away from Pedersen his achievements outstanding better than Olsen No. Edited by sidney
