martin_t
Yes thank you, I have just woke up. Very boring meeting, you gotta hand it to CVS, call that team the Wolf Cubs has they have been in the past and nobody turns up to watch, change the name to Dudley Heathens and the place is packed out! Only excitement was if an Heathens rider failed to make the gate, upmost respect to anyone who watches it week in week out but its not for me. It`s not like that every(other) week....if the opposition are poor, the meeting will be poor

Soul crew, you are ALIVE, listen mate come along next week against The Fen Tigers, you will see a different meeting to last night, last season they beat us at Monmore Wood, the Mildenhall Track aint unlike Monmore, and they have a first leg lead albeit slight, so that will be as different a meeting as chalk and cheese, who will win that one ? well of course i am bound to say The Heathens, but in no way will it be a forgone conclusion, and i am sure The Fen Tigers will be out to put one over on us again, and theres NO saying that they wont. Soul Crew
I will give it another go but I don't get much luck in terms of Heathens meetings, been to two now, tonight and the drubbing by Stoke last August.

Soul Crew
Don't bother turning up again,im sure you won't be missed. Don't be so touchy, it was a boring meeting, as others have quite rightly pointed out, that was to do with the opposition, as someone who was brought up going to Dudley Wood in the 80's and 90's I find it difficult to get enthralled by what I witnessed tonight and don't buy the whole "At least the Heathens are back on track business" The National League will always be a strange one in the sense that the stand alone clubs ie. Dudley need to be winning and bringing crowds in while teams like tonight (Kings Lynn) are there to develop riders and not necessarily be competing away from home. And I never thought I would say this but having travelled to meetings all over the country, I have to say some of the most pig ignorant people can be found in green, red and white. No doubt I will get the whole we are just a passionate bunch spiel.... Shame really Edited May 22, 2012 by Soul Crew

Yes, for different reasons probably the worst two you could have selected! As posted elsewhere, give it another go when Mildenhall are in town and the racing is likely to be far more competitive. As to your other post concerning the "at least the Heathens are back on track" view, I'm sure the club stands a much better chance of securing its own venue in the long term by being able to point to the sizeable crowds, high media coverage and passionate support engendered merely by running in the third tier rather than trying to go from a standing start.
junior fan
Gee that must have been exciting to watch, how long are the fans going to keep turning up for that. Only interest is can anyone beat Roynon around there this season.Branford is the only person to take a point off him anywhere. Death of the national league is all that you are watching, stand alone clubs might stomach it but clubs that are using it like Lynn and Scunny to bring on riders wont stick around another year. Wake up, Roynon is an elite rider and as stated else where its like taking candy from a baby, not to mention taking points off already financialy struggling riders. 21st century heathen
This can not be for real? £17.50 for a polo shirt with a NL reserve's name on? The world has gone well and truly bonkers. It is expensive, but those that buy them do so knowing that in some small way they're helping Dan. The lad has been working three jobs to get back in to speedway and has just one bike. ...you gotta hand it to CVS, call that team the Wolf Cubs has they have been in the past and nobody turns up to watch, change the name to Dudley Heathens and the place is packed out! With comments like that it might be you getting booed. *shudders at the thought of being linked with the dogheads* From a neutral point of view I guess the sense of inevitability could have got boring, but for such a one-sided meeting there was a fair smattering of good races. Darryl was superb and came from last to secure a 5-1 in three of his rides and from third to second in another I think. Dan made up places from the back. Ash was largely comfortable but needed a couple of smart first turns. James was good value and involved in a couple of reasonably close races. 'Boris' went forwards and backwards in just about every heat I think. As a couple of others have said give it another chance. We've seen some superb meetings when teams have been closely matched. Next week should be a really good meeting. Tom <who> Perry was hardly missed on this occasion. Off the top of my head I think we got 6+2 from his rides. I don't think anyone could have beaten 'Fred' last night, all things being equal, so we could have scored 70!! Don't bother turning up again,im sure you won't be missed. 99.9% of the time I'm so pleased the Forum is Phil's baby, but everyone now and again I wish I owned it. I could then just ban people for this type of completely unnecessary post. *shakes head in disappointment* Don't be so touchy, it was a boring meeting, as others have quite rightly pointed out, that was to do with the opposition, as someone who was brought up going to Dudley Wood in the 80's and 90's I find it difficult to get enthralled by what I witnessed tonight and don't buy the whole "At least the Heathens are back on track business" The National League will always be a strange one in the sense that the stand alone clubs ie. No doubt I will get the whole we are just a passionate bunch spiel.... Shame really Was it last night's meeting in particular that didn't do it for you or do you mean the whole set up? Agree regarding the NL being a bit of a mish mash. I was actually saying the same thing to someone on the terrace last night. C'est la vie. It serves it's purpose on both sides of this debate. For some clubs it's really all about giving the lads some track time in proper league action, and for others such as ourselves there's a higher purpose and success is important. After the post above directed at you I won't even bother trying to make a defence. I'll just trust you to acknowledge the majority are a good bunch. Gee that must have been exciting to watch, how long are the fans going to keep turning up for that. Only interest is can anyone beat Roynon around there this season.Branford is the only person to take a point off him anywhere. Wake up, Roynon is an elite rider and as stated else where its like taking candy from a baby, not to mention taking points off already financialy struggling riders. Junior Surprisingly it was quite entertaining considering the scoreline. The fans will turn up every time someone puts a Heathens race jacket on. We went through a spell of being thrashed out of sight even on our own shale last season. Anything between 10 and 30 point defeats felt like they'd become the norm, but we still had crowds over a thousand. Not true. From all meetings Royno has averaged about 10½ and been beaten a few times, including at home by Richie Worrall in our very first home meeting. Nonsense. All the NL clubs know what their objective is and operate accordingly. And before slating us consider that we are bringing on riders too. Tom (18) and Darryl (17) have been given their chance by the Heathens. Ash already had a year before we started but he's in his third season with us and has only just turned 18. Dan has been given a way back in to the sport by getting a place with us this season having been very promising as a junior I believe, before personal problems forced him out of speedway for a few years. Royno is with us because the rules allow it and he wants to be there. Any NL club could have approached him (with permission of course) about riding for them last season and this. He wants and needs as many meetings as he get after so much time on the sidelines year after year. Going out and winning races without too much pressure is clearly giving him a big confidence boost. If you consider the big picture then surely you must see this is good for British Speedway? He, and perhaps Richie Worrall in a few years time based on current rate of improvement, is one of too few that could go on to ride at a higher level. If not for the injuries he'd have been knocking on the door of a SWC place by now. If a year (and a bit last season) helps him get there then... Royno has been a terrific captain to our younger and less experienced riders too. How Long has Roynan gone un beaten now?? Only three meetings in a row. He was beaten at Buxton earlier this month. In fact he didn't even top score that day, Perry did.

Yes Fourenteen, that is the phenomenem that Is a Heathens Fan, its what Various Councillors have failed to grasp over the years, its what is known sometimes as blind loyalty, we may not some of us be the brightest sparks on the planet, me included, but trying to explain what being a Heathens fan means is difficult, but maybe i can describe it as losing one of the family when we lost our Stadium, and when eric returns for his "Night with eric" on July 20th i can assure you all it will be a fantastic night, and i for one am looking forward to this great evening, with my all time Hero, of years gone by, who brought me so many great moments on a speedway track, from the time he first appeared in this country as an unknown reserve, and went on to become one of the Sports all time greats, and Cradleys greatest ever rider in terms of World championships won.

Junior Just remember that we put together a team that was within the 40 points limit, and we can only ride against what is put in front of us. AND, please remember that Kings Lynn were affected by injuries. As far as your comment regarding how long will fans keep turning up for that, you really don't understand do you? Win big or lose big, Heathens fans have always and without question stood by their team like no other in history.

Yes mate you might continue to turn up, but be prepared to go into the next league because you are killing the concept of the develpment league because you blatantly have more money to spend, and its win at all cost or any cost, but hey i bet hes riding for ten pound a point, not.But hey thats what you will do when you have killed off the national league Open your eyes to what the national league is supposed to be about, elite league riders arent needed to take money off the young kids, its a joke end of.
