Heathens V Young Stars 22/5/12

Recommended Posts

I was a bit worried about having R/R for Tom tonight, but seeing that Cockle is also missing swings it back in our favour again. I'm expecting Adam and Ash to carry us through with the other 4 chipping in. An extra R/R ride each will help them continue to get to grips with Monmore. Fingers crossed for full league points.

Monmore is vastly different to the Norfolk Arena, so i expect home advantage to see us through, we should be able to cover for Tom when we are at home, but if we need to use RR when we are away, then thats a different ball game. I am particuarly looking forward to see if BB and DR have come to grips with there machinery tonight, though they have both won some races this year, on the whole they have not got the points i expected them to score so far this year, and Daryll in particular has not been at his fastest, Ash is coming back to the Ash we know he can be so a lot will rest on him tonight, Royno i expect to give his usual captains performance, on and off track, hopefully he can get JWW going alongside him in the difficult No2 role, Danny Boy at No7 has been the big plus for us so far this season, but without putting any pressure on him, any score of 3+ will be enough.

For the Young stars, hopefully Jake Knight will rediscover last seasons form, and i am particuarly looking forward to seeing Adam Lowe riding.

Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

I'm really happy for 'Fred' to get his big chance to impress tonight. I have everything crossed he can shine and perhaps even alert a few sponsors to the natural talent he has for racing bikes. I note he had a few bike problems in the U21's at the weekend though, so hopefully whatever it was is all sorted out.

It's going to be tougher without him and almost certainly a little less entertaining, but with Cockle missing it does even up the loss. I would expect us to take all the points, though that's not to suggest it will be a walk-over. The Young Stars have a few riders capable of producing a shock so we'll need all our boys to be sharp. The last thing we need is another slow start and to be chasing the points. I'll take a steady performance with everyone chipping in to something like a comfortable but competitive 50-40. I think our key riders at the moment are Darryl, who just doesn't seem to be able to get going, and 'Boris' who just doesn't seem to be able to get through a meeting without a fall/crash. If these two effectively make the difference tonight I'll be a happy Heathen.

*edit* greyhoundp - R/R at 2. JWW moves to 4. I'd like to see Ash take r/r in heat 1. Nothing should be taken for granted but on paper you'd fancy us to get off to a good start to the meeting, which is something that doesn't always happen!

Going to pop along to this one tonight means as it is a glorious day, only question is do I need to be careful to avoid all these "alleged" knuckle dragging Heathens fans who are well known for beating up old ladies and other shocking crimes?

If anyone could protect me or point me towards any safe standing areas I would be greatful. :t:

Soul Crew - Depending on what time you arrive, you will have to take any space available as the terraces will be heaving with Heathens. We get proper crowds you know. Main trouble maker is the big bloke on the centre green so you should be OK.

Yeah, watch the joker on the centre green, proper funny guy, especially likes to take the wotsit, but he can take it as well, you are most welcome at Monmore anytime, but watch out for the Red Indians likely to be wearing there war paint. may i suggest you stand on the stadium roof, you should be safe their, on second thoughts NO, you might get thrown off.

Who can Take Toms rides, is it only riders with a lower average than Tom ? or is it 1 above and any below ?.

dont think heathens will score many points in toms r/r rides, its going to be a lot closer in my opinion than most people are thinking,i hope byron doesn't have his customary fall tonight as a lot will depend on how he performs this evening,im going for 49-41 in heathens favour, hope all riders stay safe and have a good meeting.

This can not be for real? £17.50 for a polo shirt with a NL reserve's name on? The world has gone well and truly bonkers.

 did "soul crew" make it out alive ?????

Yes thank you, I have just woke up.

Very boring meeting, you gotta hand it to CVS, call that team the Wolf Cubs has they have been in the past and nobody turns up to watch, change the name to Dudley Heathens and the place is packed out!

Only excitement was if an Heathens rider failed to make the gate, upmost respect to anyone who watches it week in week out but its not for me.

Oh dear, i felt sorry for The Young stars, they caught the Heathens on a Hot Night <i didnt mean the Sun> all the Heathens riders seemed up for this, and it was the best all round Team performance in a long while, the only hiccup was when Dan Greenwood fell in his last race, no weak links in that Chain, all the riders won a race, they all looked competitive, Daryll looked like the Daryll we know, Byron got some confidence back, JWW showed speed, and won well, Daniel continued the almost astonishing re-birth of his speedway career, and Ash and Royno both scored a max, Tom <who> Perry was hardly missed on this occasion.

For the Stars they gated well but were usually passed by the 3rd bend, this track is so different to there own, They never gave up trying and they need just put this down to experience; Kerr, Knight and BJ tried there best, Tom Stokes looks a nice prospect, and Adam Lowe has a nice style but his bike seemed down on power, and yes i dare say it, James cockle WAS badly missed, Young stars will come up against few teams in this kind of form during the rest of the season.

As for Sportsmanship the minutes silence was impecabley observed; never heard a single Boo when the Teams were introduced, and whenever a Star won a race they were applauded generously, so much for the DREADED Heathen element, i just hope Soul Crew survived the trip to Monmore. :t:

This was the starter, next week sees the Main course, against another East Anglian Team in the shape of the Fen Tigers from Mildenhall, in the 2nd leg of the Shield, that should be one heck of a meeting, dont miss it Folks.
