home straight
Watching last night's GP I think there might be something wrong with my TV, not only did it look like Freddie Lindgren won the GP, it also appeared to show him smiling on the podium.

These are guys you used to sponsor. Why the huge change of opinion? You must have sponsored Hans Andersen for nearly 10 years. Bomber you backed last year, but now you seem to hardly ever have a decent word to say about either of them. Not having a go. Anyone who pumps their money into speedway as a sponsor has my full respect. Just curious.

Ghostwalker
Good win for Freddie, quite some luck with the weather as well. The upcoming week promises cold and rainy weather. Hope that Freddie can get his stuff going now and to stick within the top 8.

He's obviously not going to say why but he must know these two riders better than any of us do and has his reasons. JT
I thought this was a genuinely entertaining GP on a much improved circuit. Well done to Lindgren. One thing I couldn't understand was Pearson's continued sympathy for Harris, personally I find it hard to feel sorry for a rider who has been dining off a freak GP win for the best part of half a decade. Harris is a decent league rider, but he's past his prime at this level. His comments in the press are very rarely backed up by his racing on track either. No doubt we'll get the same BS about set ups and bike troubles in the Speedway Star, but only the most avid Bomber fan could say he deserved yet another go this season. Sadly from a British perspective, our best rider is nowhere near good enough. JT.

I was quite bemused by Harris' comments after the Czech GP after scoring 6 points he said he was "happy with that". In his first season his target was to score at least 5 points in every GP. That's a reasonable expectation. 6 years later he's happy to score six. He blames everything but himself; engines, team, tracks. The fact is he is not a world class performer. If by some miracle he is offered another wild card next year he should do the honourable thing and decline as he is wasting a valuable place in the world championship.

Harris,at the GP level, just isnt up to it Im afraid,he certainly talks a good game but out on track against this kind of opposition he doesnt cut it. Next year the only British rider in the Grand Prix will be Tai Woffinden ....... unless someone qualifies through the GP Challenge Woffinden was due to take part in the GP Challenge meeting at Berwick, that must be a big now he`s injured,so theres a chance of getting a wild card pick.Though to be frank,is Woffinden that much better than Harris at this level,it would be wrong IMO if the powers that be selected a Brit just so theres one in the GP series, when theres better riders around. woodenspoon
Do we really deserve any British rider in the GP series, at the present we havn,t anyone of the class to compete at this level. We only now get a rider in the GP to maintain the Brit interest. Chris Harris is an embarrasment at this level, his excuses for his poor performances go on and on like a stuck record. It might shake things up here, if we ended up next year with no representave rider, but I doubt it.
SPEEDY69
Well I watched the GP on Sunday night and have to say frequently 'fast-forwarded' as I found it quite dull. Maybe it's because I prefer team racing than individual events or the fact there are so many GPs. I can't get excited about someone getting a couple of more points than someone else because it means nothing at the moment as it can all change dramatically. I also wish people would stop slagging off riders with the same old arguments used before. They are in the series and trying their best - it's a completely different thing being on the outside to being in the series. Take F Lindgren - having perhaps a poor season outside the GPs but then wins one.

Klaus Lausch is the chap and he`s probly been doing longtrack/grasstrack and i`m not 100% sure on this but i thought it was mentioned earlier in the season that Harris had a motor from johnsy. spook
Ouch. The bolded bit sounds like a suggestion that you think that Nicki's bikes aren't legal. Would you like to clarify whether that was your aim? The end of the Czech Gp and the start of this one were reminiscent of his dominant year in 2007. He wasn't necessarily dropping the clutch the fastest but was driving to the first turn amazingly well. As for his move on THJ. It was a GP semi final. Should he just sit back and settle for 3rd or actually try and make a pass? As it turned out, he picked up coming out of the corner and lifted which took him further out towards THJ than he probably planned to which caused the incident. I was initially surprised by his finger wagging reaction to the crash, but I actually thought that his interview kinda made some sense. After lifting and heading out towards THJ, he apparently thought that THJ would get out the way rather than holding his ground and accepting a crash...or at least, that's how I took his words. If that is how he meant it, I can say in all honesty, I think he is probably right with that statement. Plenty of riders would have moved over and just let him by, but THJ wasn't to be denied on home shale and just stuck around and took the fall....and well done to him for doing that. What tonight did prove was that Nicki IS back, and personally I love that he is....I was starting to worry that we had lost him after the last couple of GP seasons. Now all I need to make me really happy in my SGP viewing is for Emil to get back in gear I surely couldnt have meant anything by that.... if I did it would be naughty of me ....... obviously he had super charged flying machines a few years before....... I guess its all or nothing in the Pedersen camp You are right he is making it into the first bend amazingly quickly... even when not trapping.... just like a few years ago..........obviously a few decent GP's do not make a campaign but he actually seems to be rating highly in all on track categories.... out of the start.... into the first bend.... in the dirt.... in the slick..... straight speed......... It is good to see NickiP competitive again and mixing it up.......... I have concerns about Crumpy on this score as he appears to have started to become a little too 'safe' (although even this approach he is starting to perfect)........... however finding a passion and wanting to mix it up are not the same as wiping someone out and then playing up to the cameras.......Nicki clearly has learnt nothing over the years and is still blind to the line that separates being competitive from being a liability..... Nicki was never going to get injury from a move like that but THJ could have I think that was a bit of fake lift from a desperate man who had already gone into bend 3 attempting to cut a portion of it off ... Nicki has history with fake lift One thing I couldn't understand was Pearson's continued sympathy for Harris, personally I find it hard to feel sorry for a rider who has been dining off a freak GP win for the best part of half a decade. Harris is a decent league rider, but he's past his prime at this level. His comments in the press are very rarely backed up by his racing on track either. I think Harris is quite capable as a rider .....but as has been alluded to in this thread and has been patently obvious over the years..... he quite obviously has issues putting the right machinery and setups together....... he can blame everything until kingdom comes but he is the one who has to gain the sponsors and then spend the money wisely on those who will help him to produce results.......... this was an issue years ago and the odds are he will never find the right path at GP level Edited May 28, 2012 by spook

Yes Tai is that much better Edited May 29, 2012 by T.N.T.
